Look out now, the curse is lifted.  On the road to victory.  The black and gold, baby, and a shout out to Boris.

Deng traded to Cleveland - no word on return, though Waiters is presumably involved.  Let the teardown begin and, I suspect, the end of the Thibodeaux era.

Looks like no Waiters - purely a cap relief move, Bynum (who'll be released) and a pick.  Boozer and Thibs both gone at the end of the year.

With the Adams firing as the writing on the wall, it was always only a matter of time before the feud between Thibs and Foreman reached untenable levels.  Thibs' man-love for Deng is beyond the pale - he'll see this as another show across his bow, and he won't be entirely wrong.

I'm not heartbroken over losing Deng either.  Not because he isn't a nice player - he is - but because it's clear the Bulls were never going to win a title with him as the second piece.  With all the protections in place it's unlikely we'll get an impact player from any of the first-rounders owed us, though I suppose it's possible the Bulls could slip into the lottery now and get really, really lucky with the balls.  More likely is they make a hard run at Carmelo Anthony and try and bring Mirotic over.  Might Rose never come back close to what he was?  It's possible, maybe even likely - but they have to strategize as if he will, because if he's not back to being their top piece they're so **** that a complete rebuilt with the early 2020's in mind is probably the only viable option.

The Bulls acquired the right to the Sacramento Kings’ first-round pick, which is top-12 protected in 2014, top-10 protected from 2015-17 and then becomes a second-round pick if not used by then, and two second-round picks the Cavaliers had acquired from the Trail Blazers in 2015 and 2016.

Also, the Bulls have the right to swap their own 2015 first-round pick with the Cavaliers only in the case the Cleveland pick is between 15 and 30.

More likely is they make a hard run at Carmelo Anthony

Why on earth would they want Anthony? He's a selfish, one-dimensional player who has never won jack.

Because he's the best FA available and the Bulls front-office has always liked him.  And he'd undeniably give the Bulls the second legit scorer they've never had since Rose got to town, and don't have the means to get any other way.  They'd have to shed a little more salary to make it happen, but I expect them to try.
