With the Adams firing as the writing on the wall, it was always only a matter of time before the feud between Thibs and Foreman reached untenable levels. Thibs' man-love for Deng is beyond the pale - he'll see this as another show across his bow, and he won't be entirely wrong.
I'm not heartbroken over losing Deng either. Not because he isn't a nice player - he is - but because it's clear the Bulls were never going to win a title with him as the second piece. With all the protections in place it's unlikely we'll get an impact player from any of the first-rounders owed us, though I suppose it's possible the Bulls could slip into the lottery now and get really, really lucky with the balls. More likely is they make a hard run at Carmelo Anthony and try and bring Mirotic over. Might Rose never come back close to what he was? It's possible, maybe even likely - but they have to strategize as if he will, because if he's not back to being their top piece they're so
**** that a complete rebuilt with the early 2020's in mind is probably the only viable option.
