Whether trusting the eye test or advanced hockey stats (which I don't really grasp, but I do check out blogs where they are discussed), the Hawks were outplayed last night and for big chunks of the series. But, not unlike baseball, once you are in a playoff series, things happen that allow the team playing less-well to win -- at least one series. But it's not a good plan for long-term success over four series.

The Hawks do still have 4 truly elite forwards who are threats to score all the time, and the luxury of two solid defensive pairings. And obviously Crawford is good enough.  That's not something the other teams can necessarily say. Nobody looks forward to playing the Blackhawks. But maybe they don't fear playing them as much this year. the Blackhawks chances of winning the cup seem lower for sure than what they were at this point in the other two championship runs.

I would love an Chicago-NYC final (so would NBC!).

Yeah, the Wild did out play the Hawks.  They kept the puck in their offensive zone most of the time plus they stayed out of the penalty box.  The big difference it seems the Hawks compared to most teams is they are not physical - which can lead to more turnovers.  But as a team they are certainly more skilled than anyone which can lead to a flurry of goals or even fluke goals.  They can strike at any moment.  But they are not going to wear teams down.

And by the way, what the hell happened to the Blackhawks tonight. They haven't had a period like that 3rd period in, roughly, forever.

Yeah the breakdown in 3rd was epic, looked like the 'Hawks were sleepwalking , but it was bound to happen after going 6-0 at home during the SC playoffs...get 'em in LA...

I have stopped trying to figure out the 'Hawks.  Just hoping for the best.

Would've been nice to go into LA with a 2-0 lead.

Well, obviously everyone knew Handzus would be the hero.

Brandon Saad is on the cusp of stardom, isn't he?

But in game 6 Quenville needs to figure out how to play more than 7 forwards (both Bollig and Versteeg barely played in a game that went to a second OT, and Handzus really played very little at even strength).

Still too much dead weight on the Hawks though, and still too much leeway give in the defensive zone. They played hard tonight though, I'll give them that. Don't think they win in LA, unfortunately.

Gotta give the 'Hawks credit for battling.  The Kings are tough, but not unbeatable.

Saad was the best player on the ice tonight.  What's wrong with Sharp?  He's basically disappeared.

The Hawks need to play an entire game the way they played the first overtime period in game 5.  Until then, the Kings skated circles around them.

Someday I hope to have grandchildren. And if so lucky, I will tell them stories about Patrick Kane.

Maybe the Chicago Cubs will one day have a player as great as Patrick Kane.
