This is where MLB has a problem with Bud Selig. ESPN is pretty much devoting 80% of their coverage this week to practice football while baseball is in the middle of the regular season, and MLB doesn't have a commissioner with the muscle or the influence to keep the NFL from more or less running that network. Roger Goodell pretty much has ESPN covering his sport the way he wants it to be covered, and Bud Selig seems content to sit on the sidelines and twiddle his fingers.
The only time ESPN seems to really care about baseball is when the Red Sox have a game on a day Johnny Manziel is taking a break from partying, and occasionally they'll give a shout out to Yasiel Puig if he does something interesting.
Other than that, MLB's influence with that network is next to nothing. The next commissioner needs to change that.
