Can someone explain to me how Rousey could go from being one of the most feared people in the world to someone who can't last a minute in the ring?

The competition in the women's ranks is improving fairly rapidly.  While becoming "soft" is the very easy explanation, as is often the case, when you look deeper, you are likely to find the easy explanation is far from complete (or at all accurate).

Rousey started to become a bit of a name in 2011 when she was 4-0 and booked a series of fights with then champion Miesha Tate.  Tate at the time was 18-6.  Their series of fights helped generate interest, ticket sales, boost broadcast viewership, and generally bring bigger paydays for top female fighters, all things which would tend to attract more female fighters and to increase how seriously existing fighters would train and dedicate themselves to fighting.

Since the two of them booked their series of fights, Tate has gone 7-12 (announcing her retirement last month) and Rousey has gone 8-2, losing both of her last two fights, one yesterday and the other 13 months ago.

Thanks, Jes.  Don't be shocked. Yes, I read your response because I assumed you might be responding to me.  I appreciate it, because I know little of MMA, just that Rousey was a household word for awhile.

Cletus, D23, JR...

What's more #Atlanta?

This morning Chipper Jones and his bride named their newborn "Cutler Ridge"

Or

the Falcons are hosting a bunch of rappers that banged Russell Wilson's wife, Ciara, on the sidelines for tonight's playoff game?

When they bang her on the sidelines, will tv cover it?

You'll be able to switch over to nfl tv channel for special coverage during the commercial breaks for those that wish to see it.  Supposedly there will be some live streams without blurry boxes too.

Best part is we get to find out how well Russell can block out what's going on around him.

Superfly Jimmy Snuka has died.

He was 73.

Had a short little run in the early 80's but he'll be mostly remembered as a murderer who somehow got away with it.

I'm 35 and he was never really relevant in my lifetime.

The victim's family sued him and got a civil judgment for half a million dollars.  He also was criminally charged and awaiting trial when the court dismissed the charges less than two weeks ago because he had been diagnosed with a terminal condition and given a very short time to live.

The delay in charges being brought was simply due to the inadequacy of the evidence, a problem the prosecution still would have had now if Snuka had lived and the case went to trial.

Durant has 40 points on 16 shots against his old team tonight.  I'd have to check, but I'm pretty sure that's good.

If it even matters any more, the Bulls appear to be totally imploding.  Wade and Butler conspiring to call out the team, Rondo calling out Wade and Butler.  What a disaster.

GarPax are a f cking joke, that's for sure.

I would love a total house cleaning including all management with only Butler remaining and perhaps not even that.  Gather draft picks, suck for 3 or 4 years and see what you can build as Lebron gets older.

Rondo ends statement with, "The young guys work. They show up. They don't deserve blame. If anything is questionable, it's the leadership."

And now Wade publicly rips into Rondo in an Instagram tirade.  This organization is a disgrace.

I don't know how seriously the young players in this organization take winning when the cameras are off and the doors shut.  But there's something about Wade and Butler getting together and then ripping a bunch of young players in the press that's pretty despicable.
