Blackhawks showing off their young talent against an obviously tired Pens teams. Not sure they'll play defense well enough to be a title contender though.

You can tell you're a hater like Dave is JR.

Justin Fuente?

Come on brother.

We're talking about a legit top 10 program nationally thats probably 2nd in SEC history only behind Alabama.

Ole Miss and Vandy both arent even top 50.

Vandy maybe not even top 100.

I'm not a hater.  I worked at Vanderbilt for 5 years, went to a lot of games when I was working there, and lived in Nashville for 14 years now, so I'm more a Vandy fan now.  I still want to see UT do well though.

I'd like it if they did pay up for Chip Kelly, but I don't see it happening.  Kelly just doesn't seem interested in taking a college job, and even if he was, a job like A&M is going to be more attractive, not to mention some other job that might also open up he might like better (UCLA being a Pac-12 school, Nebraska, LSU, etc.).  At the very least, Chip Kelly probably has maybe a 10-20% chance of happening, which might be optimistic.

Jon Gruden isn't happening, and again, I'm not even sure that's something you should want happening at this point.  It's been a decade since he's been on a sideline, and he's in a job that probably pays as well as a good college coaching job without nearly the stress of it.  Even if he took that job, that's a big transition from being in a cozy broadcast job for 10 years to dealing with overzealous college fans with oversized expectations.

Once you get past guys like that, you're looking at guys like Cooter and Fuente.  If Nebraska wasn't likely to open up, Scott Frost might emerge as a good candidate too, but if UCF finishes well, he's likely going to Nebraska.  And honestly, Fuente is a good coach.  He could do well at Tennessee and probably do a lot better job coaching up the talent they have than Butch Jones has.

I guess the other part of it too is I've reached the point where big time college sports just disgusts me too much for me to get too worked up about it anymore.  This latest scandal with Adidas is just another example of it.

If it sounds like I'm a hater, it's probably because just about every big program rubs me the wrong way nowadays.

LOL, UT would be damn lucky to get a coach like Fuente.

I'd be pretty dismayed if he ended up there. I don't think he'd leave VT for UT, though...

You all do know the backstory on Gruden to UT right?

He lives in the town next to my hometown in Dandridge TN and his wife went to my high school and was a cheerleader at UT.

He has said multiple times that UTs his dream job.

He's our Nick Saban.

It wont look likely until youre watching the press conference.

If UTs willing to pay him right he will come.

I saw a chart a few days ago where UT makes the most money in the SEC in sports but is like 7th in spending.

The money is there.

Now its time to see if UTs willing to pay for a winner or if they just enjoy being mediocre.

We'll see how it goes.  I still don't see why he'd want to leave the great job he has to deal with 18-21 year old's on the field and an SEC fan base off of it, but we'll see.  Even if he did take it, at this stage of his career, I'm pretty far from convinced he's leading anyone to the promised land anyway.

If Butch goes, I think you're more than likely going to need to get ready to accept someone of the Jim Bob, Justin Fuente, Les Miles, Tee Martin, Chad Morris, Major Applewhite, random assistant class of coach, which if they pick right, they'd probably be better off with anyway.

Maybe if they play their cards right, they can snag Chip Kelly or Mike Gundy as well, but I'm not sure I'd be too optimistic there either.

Is this different than Gruden's alarm clock playing the ND fight song when he wakes up?

Well, that makes sense as an alarm is only effective when the noise is unpleasant.
