What he is saying is that there is historical evidence that a man named Jesus and John the Baptist existed.  The extent that the book has been altered is up for debate about at least one of the two passages that mention Jesus.  The passage about John the Baptist differs from what is written in the Bible.

The nature of Jesus is a matter of faith, much like if he could hit a curve ball or not.

So you're saying Jesus was real but the stories we read in the bible aren't?
I think it is doubtful that the character in the bible existed but itís possible there was some guy that was used as the outline for the character in the book.  There is a zero percent chance that the story told with all the miracles and whatnot happened.  That stuff is pure myth that was aimed at people who had little to no understanding of the way the world worked (not to mention that a lot of it was lifted from other myths so itís not even an original story).  Itís all nonsense and, in the 21st century, itís time to let it go.
