Looks like a post of mine was deleted from the R&P topic?

There's nothing in the Recycle Bin...was it a post you just made? or earlier today?

Don’t see it there, no worries, I figured it was likely some kind of glitch in the matrix.

Put it back, Dave.  There has been a politics thread on this board for years.

I’ve thought about this for a bit before saying anything, but I agree with P2. We’ve long had the topic on this board, and moving it elsewhere does a few things:

- It discourages conversations by forcing people to monitor other boards. While the topic was here, as was always the case, anyone who didn’t like it was welcome to stay out of it. There are plenty of topics I don’t read through. So why force people to go elsewhere when it was not impacting the people who didn’t want to participate in the first place?

- It devalues the conversations. Even the title “the absolute bottom of the barrel” is incredibly dismissive.

- Putting the two R&P topics side by side on their own board forces a strange cross-pollination of users in an artificial and damaging way. We now have Soros-tin-foil-hat troglodytes randomly positing non sequiturs in the Cubs R&P board. I have no relationship with those individuals and no desire to entertain their goonish thoughts. “Just mute them” doesn’t work if there is a flood of them all of a sudden coming across from the bears board. And I can *guarantee* you that traffic will be largely one-way. Few if any posters from the Cubs R&P topic will randomly insert themselves over at the bears R&P thread.

These new problems have been created. What problems were solved by moving the board?

Yeah, the more I think about this, the more I have a real problem with it. And I’d like to hear from the people who made this decision as to why.

I’ve been on this board for more than 2 decades, and I’ve never seen mods make a change that impacts conversations as significantly as this change does. I think it’s fair to ask for answers.

You might find the batshit insanity from the bears guys morbidly fascinating.

I agree that the Religion and Politics topic should be here, but I kinda hope it returns in 2021.  I think it will be toxic this fall.

This is a baseball board and its Dave's.

If he dont want it here then too damn bad.

Go to Foxnews.com and find their message board.

This is for baseball.

Since moving the thread, the only posts have been by toxic members of the bears board. If I wanted strangers to yell at me I’d go to a Trump rally.

Again I ask, why the change in decades-long moderation policy, and what problems were solved that justify the problems created.

This is obviously a lot more than a baseball board, evidenced by all the non-baseball discussions and other non-baseball threads that exist here.

And it’s not Dave’s board. People have been here for decades. This place belongs to the community.

Dave’s extraordinary work as moderator has done so much to build this community, but this move, without an explanation as to why the change in policy, erodes trust.

Agree completely with tico. Two trolling posts and one personal attack on tico since I made the last post from someone on this board.

But it was ok to talk to me like a red headed step child for being a Christian?

If you had a clue what it actually means to be a Christian, you would not say something as utterly stupid and disrespectful as that. Plenty of folks here are Christians who are offended by your bigotry and otherwise offensive posts, which are themselves completely inconsistent with the Christianity I learned growing up and also while attending seminary.

Well if you're Catholic I can assure you your beliefs are nothing like mine.
