Put it back, Dave. There has been a politics thread on this board for years.
I’ve thought about this for a bit before saying anything, but I agree with P2. We’ve long had the topic on this board, and moving it elsewhere does a few things:
- It discourages conversations by forcing people to monitor other boards. While the topic was here, as was always the case, anyone who didn’t like it was welcome to stay out of it. There are plenty of topics I don’t read through. So why force people to go elsewhere when it was not impacting the people who didn’t want to participate in the first place?
- It devalues the conversations. Even the title “the absolute bottom of the barrel” is incredibly dismissive.
- Putting the two R&P topics side by side on their own board forces a strange cross-pollination of users in an artificial and damaging way. We now have Soros-tin-foil-hat troglodytes randomly positing non sequiturs in the Cubs R&P board. I have no relationship with those individuals and no desire to entertain their goonish thoughts. “Just mute them” doesn’t work if there is a flood of them all of a sudden coming across from the bears board. And I can *guarantee* you that traffic will be largely one-way. Few if any posters from the Cubs R&P topic will randomly insert themselves over at the bears R&P thread.
These new problems have been created. What problems were solved by moving the board?
