Wrigley Field this morning

Wrigley Aerials often takes shots like this but not from this angle.

What visiting player once said "what ocean is that?".  I don't recall.

There was the story about John Kruk.  His teammates told him that it was the Mississippi River, then said they were kidding and that it was actually the Pacific Ocean.  Or vice versa.

Something like that.

Saying it was John Kruk allowed me to Google it and here's what I found:

Quote
What kind of guy is John Kruk? When he first came here to Chicago, he saw Lake Michigan and asked someone, “Which ocean is that?” This was back in May. On Wednesday, he said, “Oh, I know it’s Lake Michigan now. Originally, I thought it was the Mediterranean.”

The article includes a great Harry Caray anecdote about the time he was broadcasting from the bleachers and tried to catch a Jody Davis homer using his fishing net.  There's even a reference to Marla Collins.

In the early Gunsmokes Miss Kitty doesn’t have that little mole on her right cheek bone.

Those saloon gals at the Long Branch have it going on. B drinking whiskey with them cowboys and never falling down. Bare shoulders and high waisted dresses with that curly tail like thing off the derrière and they smell so good when you kiss ‘em.

Now, after several months of watching Gunsmoke it is clear that Bob Dylan took his name from Matt Dillon. Little bits of dialogue hit me as Dylan lyric lines. Up through Blonde on Blonde those lyrics are in my files, there is no guessing. The kicker came when a Gunsmoke gal recited a monologue that was almost word for word of the refrain from Just Like a Woman. So, a bit of trivia FYI.

“Like” that post by Curt. Spent the last half hour trying to indicate that but failed. Putting two and two together I figured out the original ESPN game of Yankees and Mets is switched to Sox and Cubs. Wait and see I guess.

I can’t begin to comprehend what it is like spending 72 hours straight in 100° temperatures to fight a fire on the side of a mountain while wearing up to 75 pounds of gear

Oh man. Sad. Named after Townes Van Zandt. Death by misadventure I would guess. Tragic.
