A story about Jeimer Candelario (kind of) that some of you might find amusing.
Several years ago, my niece, who lives in Mexico, got pregnant. She decided she wanted U.S. medical care, so she came to stay with my wife and me for several months - before and after the delivery.
One night, over dinner, we were talking about what she might name the baby. At that time, it had already been determined that she was having a boy.
When it comes to Latino male first names, my "go to" has always been baseball rosters. So, I mentally went through Cubs rosters, past and present, and made suggestions. Among these was "Jeimer".
She reacted negatively to most and not wildly positive to any.
Fast forward to the days after the birth. She announced that the baby would be named "Jaymar". I chuckled to myself, for a couple of reasons. One, Mr. Candelario. Two, our house is at the intersection of Silverlake Drive and Jaymar Drive.
