Dave has evidently been questioned before by a quality system auditor.

Thinking of coming to Chicago in April when the Cubs play an afternoon game on a Thursday and the Blackhawks play a Friday night game. I haven't been back in  nearly 30 years so I really don't know my way around anymore. Any hotel recommendations and advice on how to get to and from Wrigley Field and the United Center?

Now that my kids are grown I would rather sit in a room and listen to Otto explain the economy than go anywhere near Disney. Just the thought of going back there produces nightmares.

Anyone interested in trying out Fangraphs' fantasy baseball, ottoneu? I'm considering starting a league, and would be more likely to do so if filled with fellow bbf'ers. Message me here at the board if interested.

Cost is $9.99 per team (basic administration fee); 12 teams per league; up to 40 players per team (major and minors); auction-style draft with unlimited keepers, though salaries increase each year a player is kept.

Daily or weekly fantasy lineups; multiple scoring systems, including traditional 5x5, 4x4 with categories like OPB and SLG, and various points systems. Open to discussion as to how the league would be formatted, if this moves forward.

Again, please message me here at the board if interested.

Has anybody taken a look at Mike Piazza’s new autobiography co-authored with Lonnie Wheeler?

Long Shot could have easily been titled “If you don’t know how good I was, read this book and you will find out.”

This Amzaon.com comment pretty much says it all:

Quote
Full disclosure...I am a lifelong Mets fan and loved watching Piazza. I eagerly purchased this book and dove into it with anticipation, but finished it with disappointment.

Mike Piazza comes across as an angry, narcissistic egomaniac. He whines about not winning the MVP and other awards and blames others. He boasts about each and every accomplishment during his career in mind numbing fashion. He seems to think that his career was hindered by teams' front offices (Dodgers & Mets), the press, opponents and even his teammates. Me, me, me and I, I, I. While I still admire his accomplishments on the field, after reading this he certainly a less intriguing person. Piazza comes across as a stereotypical "dumb jock."

Piazza even takes a shot at Joe Mauer who won batting titles while he didn't by saying "Mauer didn't have to battle Tony Gwynn".

In the book’s wrapup, Piazza pretty much recognizes the image he has created of himself but doesn’t seem to care.  His main goal appeared to be making everyone aware of just how worthy he is of making it to the Hall of Fame.  He was at 57.8% in the 2013 voting, his first year of eligibility.

Read Long Shot if you can borrow it from your local library but think twice about buying it.  It is filled with gratuitous profanities but it is enlightening.
