Interestingly, the mammoth is drawn in a style very similar to that current in Europe at that time, fueling the debate that some humans came to America by way of Europe during that period.

Also making one wonder how many damb ways you can carve a mammoth....

FD, do you have your asbestos suit on?  Are you safe?  Well, of course not.  I mean are the fires near you?

I do admire the circumspect way in which the writer indicates that the police had some indications that he was the man they wanted, considering what the article says that the suspect left the festival wearing ....

Sheen says he took steroids during 'Major League'

NEW YORK -- Turns out Wild Thing's fastball had a little extra juice.

Actor Charlie Sheen tells Sports Illustrated in its latest issue that he took steroids "for like six or eight weeks" while filming the 1989 movie "Major League." He adds that the performance-enhancing drugs helped his fastball go from 79 mph to 85 mph.

Sheen played fireballing relief pitcher Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn, whose wayward pitches were often "jussst a bit outside," as Bob Uecker's character, radio broadcaster Harry Doyle, sarcastically announced during the hit comedy.

Sheen, who has made recent headlines for erratic behavior and his firing from the show "Two and a Half Men," says it was the only time he took steroids and they made him a bit more irritable than normal.
What a letdown.  Next I suppose they'll tell us Willie Mays Hayes wasn't very fast.

Actually, in order to make Willie Mays Hayes look fast, they had to shoot all of those scenes in "slow-mo" because Wesley Snipes was incredibly slow.

Ridicule all you want, at 85 mph Sheen would look better than some of the crap we're sending out there.  Especially if we had the gun that read 101.

Monical's Pizza. Nothing close to it.

http://www.monicalspizza.com/menus/default.aspx?SegmentId=8&F_All=Y

It must be a regional thing.  Like the love of White Castle for people from the big northern cities like Chicago and Detroit or grits for southerners. No one I know that grew up in the Chicago area and went to college at Eastern Illinois, Bradley, Illinois Wesleyan, ISU, U of I, etc. rave about or miss Monical's Pizza. Guess you had to 'grow up on it' to enjoy it. It may be the best pizza in central & southern Illinois but that's not saying much as that area isn't considered a 'pizza lover's paradise'.  Kind of like being the 'best Mexican joint' in Winnipeg Canada.

The last time I tried it was 15 months ago at a company-owned store (some of their locations are franchised) in Manteno. The very-thin crust pizza is bland and unimpressive IMO. This may explain why many of the locals like to dress their Monical's pizza with a liberal dosing of the Monical's red salad dressing that is conveniently parked on each table top. The salad dressing is really tasty - but I don't care for salad dressing on my pizza, thank you.

There's also a good reason that they've expanded to 51 locations in Illinois and ALL of them are located south of I-80. Their pizza would be considered mediocre in Chicagoland.  They are not in the same league as Chicago area pizza places with multiple locations like Lou Malnati's, Connie's, Aurelio's or Edwardo's.  Let alone compared to the great pizza you will find in gems like Vito & Nick's on the southside or Burt's Place in Morton Grove.
