Does anyone here have a Fuji camera? I have been looking at the Fuji S4000. It seems like a pretty solid camera but I was curious if Fuji really makes a good product or if anyone has had problems with them before..

This is an interesting story - escaped wild animals - bears, cheetahs, wolves, lions, etc., - from a preserve in Ohio. The owner evidently released the animals and then died.

Flashing signs along area highways told motorists, "Caution exotic animals" and "Stay in vehicle."

"Caution exotic animals"???

Personally, that doesn't sound all that ominous.  I think "Bears, Cheetahs, and Lions on the Loose" would be a little more effective.

Yeah, what did they do?

Undoubtedly there is going to be a surge in "Lost Cat" and "Lost Dog" signs going up in the neighborhood.

No doubt cheaper and less work to shoot 'em all than to round 'em up and return 'em to the compound.

They wanted to capture them, but since it was night, which is many of the animals most active time, it was going to be difficult not only to see them, but to hit them accurately with tranquilizer. If they missed they'd have one very angry animal on their hands. They couldn't just let them roam the area overnight.

They did try to tranquilize some, but I guess they came after the vet, so they had to put them down.  Sad story.  Looked like the police weren't acting like cowboys, but actually felt bad about all the shooting they had to do.

Plus, they didn't have an accurate count on the number of animals, what species of animals they were and how long they had been loose.

The guy opened their cages and killed himself.

The local schools were told to cancel all classes for today and everyone was told to stay inside.

It's not like this was some place in the middle of nowhere.  It was in a residential area and apex predators were just set free.  Authorities had no idea if the dude had been feeding them or if he has some sort of plan for revenge from beyond the grave or what the hell was going on.

All they knew was that the guy was dead, recently released from jail and that he had several wild animals on his property.  He had been cited for animal cruelty before and resented his neighbors.

It's awful that 49 animals have been killed but the villain in this story is the crazy person that somehow got his hands on that many dangerous wild animals.

Reminds me about 30 years ago, some do-gooders broke into a mink farm and released a whole bank of minks into the wild.  "Run, Forest, Run!"  Their carcasses were found all over town as dogs and cats had their way with these mink, who, even though they had sharp teeth and instinctive cunning, were not prepared to defend themselves out of the cage.

The last issue is simply unforgivable.

Kind of hard to determine his motives.  Did he want his animals to be free if he was going to do himself in, or was he hoping they could wreak havoc and kill people?  Either was it was irresponsible, but committing suicide shows he was already unbalanced.

I have to change my ISP, so I have a question.

Does anyone use Charter DSL, and if so, do you like it?

He was half a whack job.  Of course, all of the people he sold automatic weapons to were defending him.  "He was a great guy."  "He was nice to everyone."  "He loved animals."

He didn't leave a note, as far as they can tell.  Nobody knows what the hell he was thinking.

Chris, I have Charter DSL.  Now that I have and use Microsoft Essential Security every single day, I don't have any problems with it.  I have it because it's part of my cable bundle thingybob.
