Lester, really good.  I've been something of a Lester skeptic, but man Lester with his 88 mph fastball looked really good.  I've been a Heyward skeptic, too; fun to see him contributing, and leading the team in HR's.  :).

Clutch 2-out hits, Happ, then the Heyward HR.  Cubs have done a really good job of adding on.  You face a different sequence of relievers when you're winning than losing, so getting up 1-0 and 2-0 is really good; but then adding on and building a cushion was nice.

Nice work by the righty relievers.  Not sure Rea with touching-95-96 velocity in relief these days can't be a usable guy.

Facing the Tribe with their rotation, this was certainly the one you wanted to win.

Cubs have the best record in the majors......although tied with Cards in the loss column (how come Cards never seem to lose?)

Anyone else have a hard time seeing Delino DeShields, Jr without thinking about his dad being called Delino DeSucks during his time as a Cub?  Was that BEERFAN or JB?

The Cubs are leaving a lot of runners on so far.

Another excellent game from Hendricks.  Cubs go into the 7th ahead 5 to 1.  Long home run for Bryant, and two run single for Bote.

That was interesting.  If I read the box score right, Ross gave up the DH rather than go to Phegley at C?

Honestly why not?  Late innings, and you'd be using better hitters than Phegley to pinch hit in the pitcher's spot anyway, which hopefully won't be happening again the rest of this game.  You're presumably getting a better defensive catcher out there too.  Actually I think that's pretty smart.

Winkler is a dollar-store Mariano Rivera with no control.

I just don't get the DH thing.  Why are we wasting a roster spot on Phegley if Ross doesn't even trust him to catch in a contested game?

That’s just a horrible 2-2 pitch by Wick to Lindor.
