Swinging strike on a curveball for Kimbrel to end the 8th.

HE’S BACK.

Alec Mills pinch-hitting.

Is that legal?

Cubs rallying in 9th.

Fox notes that Kimbrel smiling in dugout.

Kimbrel stands to be winning pitcher if Cubs score 14 runs.

Cubs lose 13-2 as somebody named Nick Heath makes exaggerated nice catch in CF for final out.

Official Scorer gives Kimbrel another Hold for participating.

Here’s the BAD NEWS:

With the loss tonight, Cubs now tied with Cardinals in the loss column and the lead is GONE.

I believe that was the first time this season anyone swung at a Kimbrel offspeed pitch. You’d be smiling too.

Kimbrel gave up a walk and two hits in his inning and substantially lowered his WHIP. It’s been a rough start.

Reb, I very much enjoyed your garbage time PBP after the game out of hand tonight.

Boy, I guess the clock struck midnight on Chatwood tonight.  Hopefully this is just one bad start he got out of his system, but 2 1/3 IP and 8 ER against the Royals is pretty ugly.

Craig Kimbrel needs a phantom injury so he can be sent to Iowa on a rehab assignment and work out his problems there.  If only.

I was really looking forward to this game being on national TV, most games I have to watch on my computer screen on MLB.TV. What an ugly game.

The postponement of the Cubs/Cardinals series means the loss of an ESPN Sunday night game.

Well, you get a ESPN Sunday night game from Chicago instead:  Cleveland at White Sox.

Apparently the Indians all tested clean after the Plesac/Clevinger incident
