With one out to go in the eighth Hendricks is being lifted in favor of Kimbrel.

It feels like Hendricks gets deprived of a lot of CGs in the last inning.

Javy sends a message and strikes out to begin the ninth.

He doesn't strike out, he flails out...regularly.

Kipnis has an infield hit to keep us alive, and Hoerner pinch runs and steals second.

KC has opened up a 10-1 lead on the Cardinals, so we won't lose ground to them.  We're really limping to the finish line in this division.

With this offense, I expect the postseason to look a lot like the 2008 postseason for the Cubs.

It really is frustrating that the front office never did anything significant to shake up this offense over the last 4 years. It's been the same thing over and over again. It's really the biggest black mark on their tenure with the Cubs.

As frustrating as having no offense is, it's still better than blowing late leads all the time like we did last September.

Happ, last time I looked was close to or above 300, now he’s hovering around 250.

On the plus side, Kimbrel pitched to one batter.

Tonight's highlights link?

If you saw it the first time, you don't want to see it again.  If you missed it, you made the right move.

From 2017-2019, Cubs were 3rd in total runs scored in the NL——not counting the Rockies who are an outlier for obvious reasons. Only L.A. and Nats scored more. Not to mention the excellent 2016 offense.

Don’t let the 2020 offensive woes cloud the facts.

Also, keep in mind that 2020 is a 60-game season, not 162. Basically, we’re in early June in a normal year and there would be time to turn the offense around.

The good thing now is that Cubs standards are so high after a World Championship that the 2017-2019 showing is considered by some as a black mark. A remarkable change of attitude—for the good—for those of us who have been around for awhile!

Oh they CAN score runs.  In bunches.  They can win games 15-1, 8-2, 10-0 and then get shut down for a couple of weeks where they are lucky to score 1 or 2 runs.

Inconsistency is the only constant I have seen with this offense the last few years.
