I'd probably keep him on his minor league assignment for at least a while longer.

When they feel he is ready, bring him back to play middle infield until he shows he can not handle the position offensively.

Assuming the Cubs are satisfied that he is making progress in his behavior, bring him back and spot start him at 2B and SS (mostly at 2B).  Make him earn more playing time by his performance

Trade him to the Yankees (they horde infielders) or Padres. (Tatis Jr out) or any other team needing a SS (Washington with Trea Turner out) not in their division for a RP.
