How?
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Pekin on August 12, 2011, 07:13:25 pm
The beta test approaches! We’ve just updated our System Check program and would like everyone to update their Battle.net Beta Profile information by running the new one. You should do this regardless of whether there have been hardware changes made to your system.

You can run the new System Check by visiting the Beta Profile settings of your Battle.net account:

https://www.battle.net/account/management/beta-profile.html

I don’t have a Beta Profile
If you haven’t yet created a Beta Profile on your Battle.net account you’ll be presented with two download options, PC and Mac, for our System Check program. Running the program will present you with the Beta Test Opt-In Agreement, and once you agree to that it will immediately query basic computer specification information such as your type of video card, processor, and RAM. Clicking the Send button will then upload the shown information to your account.

On your Beta Profile page, you’ll want to ensure you at least have “Diablo Universe” checked for future testing, if not StarCraft and Warcraft as well. That’s it! You’re now eligible for future beta test opportunities.

I have a Beta Profile
If you’ve previously uploaded your system info you should use the links to download the new System Check program for PC or Mac and update your system info. Run the program, read through the Beta Test Opt-In Agreement that appears, and once you agree to that the program will immediately query your basic computer specification information. Click Send and the program will automatically update your profile with your system specifications. You’ll remain opted in for whichever beta tests you’ve previously selected, and you can change these selections on your Beta Profile page at any time.

Having current system specifications and checking the franchise boxes to express interest in beta testing our future products does not guarantee your entry into the beta test. We will grant a very limited number of people entry from the entire pool of those interested, based on their system specifications and other factors. While having an official Battle.net Beta Profile is one way to potentially get in, we’ll have information on other ways to increase your chances as we draw closer to the beta test.

No fighting the Headless Horseman in WoW this year. One of the things I'll miss about the game. I really don't miss much else though. Haven't been doing any gaming to speak of. We're gonna get the kids a Xbox 360 for Christmas so I'll be getting games for that soon enough. Still prefer keyboard for gaming over a joystick, especially first person shooters. Just seems more intuitive using a mouse to aim where ya wanna go over a little joystick nob deal or buttons. Will definately take some time to get used to that if ever.....
Man, I'm gettin' old. Gaming doesn't do it for me anymore, riding roller coasters doesn't do it either. Used to love both now I'm happy to sit on my butt watching the kids ride. This sucks...hate getting old. What's next, Lawrence Welk reruns? I do actually like swing and whatnot....listen to Sinatra, Dean Martin, Harry Conick Jr.....oh well....

Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Pekin on December 03, 2011, 09:38:21 am
I am playing Skyrim on Xbox until D3 comes out.

Also Blizzard is working on a new MMO code named "Titan".  It has been in the works for a few years and probably has a few more years in development.   Hopefully by the time I am done with D3 it will be out.  Blizzard makes the best games.

I think they kind of lost WoW at some point.  You shouldn't have been able to easily find greens that replaced your best purple gear in the first zone of the expansions like they did.  And now the stats on gear is becoming silly because of it.  WoW has lost tons of subscribers and will lose a ton more once D3 comes out.  Yet they are still the biggest mmo around and it is not even close.
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Sportster on December 03, 2011, 02:42:17 pm
What is Skyrim? And wasn't WoW up to 20million subscribers just a while ago? I've been seeing a lot of ads and commercials by them. They must be bleeding subs....
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Pekin on December 03, 2011, 03:06:16 pm
They lost a ton after Cataclysm which was not well received.  Still has the most subscirbers of any MMO.

They have lost millions of subscribers though.  Which is why if you buy a year subscription of WoW they will give you D3 for free.

Skyrim is a single player game.  It is an open ended world where you can do whatever you want.  It has professions and factions, you can buy a house etc.

You can buy it on PC as well.  If you are interested in single player RPG's it is the best ever made.  A huge world with tons of quests and things to explore.  You can literally do whatever you want.  Of course if you steal or murder there will be abounty put on your head and the guards in the town will try and kill you or arrest you.  Your bounty is different from town to town so you can be a hero in one town and a villain in another.  Me personally I never steal or murder it is just not the way I play the game.  But you can if you want.

Yesterday while playing I had a dragon attack me and I was hiding behind a rock healing up.  When I went to go look for the dragon it was fighting a giant I had seen nearby.  It was then easy for me to kill it from a distance.  I got lucky if that had not happened I probably would have had to load from an earlier save.

Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: wmljohn on March 17, 2012, 01:55:19 pm
I was already released on PS3.  I tired the demo.  I just can't get into playing by myself without a group of people to BS with.

I don't know when they are going to release the MMO online version.  The game wasn't bad just not an MMO.  I am afraid I won't like the D3 because of the same reason if you can't play in groups.
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Pekin on March 17, 2012, 02:31:47 pm
In D3 you can have 4 people playing together at one time.  While you can join a game with anyone only 4 at one time which is obviously not like WoW or other MMO's.  Part of the reason for this is each game started is completely random.  You can start a game and fight your way to and kill a boss to loot him then start a new game and do it again if you like.

One of the cool things is that randomly generated champions will carry just as good of loot as bosses.  I feel it will add a ton of excitement when you find one.  Kind of like WoW when you found a rare champion only to find out the lott sucked.  This time the loot will be awesome that they drop.

At the auction house you can trade with anyone on your server.

Personally I prefer Diablo to WoW because I will not have to group with strangers just to do anything meaningful when my friends aren't online.  However grouping will be awesome because while the mobs get tougher 4 players will still wipe them out way quicker then if you were doing it solo.

I like that I can find an awesome item by myself.  I hated that in WoW if there were no friends online I lost interest.  Especially when everyone quit playing WoW there was no reason to continue by myself.  I would log on check auction house run a few daily's and log if not enough people to run an instance showed up.

In D3 every single game is an instance wether it is one person or four.  Plus if you only have one, two or three people you can still kill the bosses and champions and get loot.  Plus the lowliest mob can drop an awesome item.  Granted it is pretty rare but possible.

The 4 person limit is probably the biggest draw back to this game.  However they could increase that down the road.

Also playing h ardcore is such a rush.  If you die that is it your character is dead for good.  It really gives you a rush even playing solo.

Although that is just an option.  Most people will not play in that mode even though the loot is better or at least it was in the old games.

The release of Diablo 3 is 5-15 of this year Bill.  I was not lucky enough to get into Beta.

I was not aware they had a beta for PS3.  I knew they were talking about making it for console as well but thought it was strictly being released for the computer at first.

No.  I was talking about Kingdoms of Amular.  Curt Schillings game that Sportster mentioned.  I was already released.  I tried that demo on PS3.

Dont care too much for the single player RPGs.  The single player RPG is the lead in to the MMO version of Kingdoms of Amular.  No release date as of yet.
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Pekin on March 18, 2012, 11:02:24 am
Yeah I have Kingdoms of Amular.  It is ok but feels like playing WoW solo.  OK but can't really keep my attention.  Same with Skyrum.  A good game but being single player is kind of boring.

Sorry I thought you were talking about D3.

I sent you both the info to the e-mail addresses you have under your profile here.

You can only play up to the first boss in the first act.  It is also real easy the part you are getting to play because it is basicly the beta.  The difficulty continues to ramp up as the game goes along.  Four people can play at one time but you can also play solo or just two or just three as it gets harder or easier depending on the number of people playing in the same "instanced" game at a given time.

There is only the top down view which may be a turn off to you two but it is the only way it can work in this game.  You move entirely with your mouse.

Sporty at this time there is no PVP because they felt it would slow the games release.  It will be added though.

Also no monthly fee at all.  Which is a big thing for me cause I hated paying a monthly fee when we weren't grouping all that much anymore.

You did Top Down viewpt on WoW?? How in the world did you play the game that way? I did first person but from behind viewpt. You could zoom in to be his eyes but I found that too much. Would rather watch what's going on. Kept it a distance from him so I could pan around and see around him easier.

I bought D3 digital- no guest passes :(

Got a Barbarian into Hell (Act 1). Trying to farm gear for further progress (also upgrading Blacksmith, Jeweler etc)......

Also got a Demon hunter to Act 2 Nightmare.

Sent it to you again Bill.  No way I typed it wrong I clicked on your profile and your e-mail and sent it from there the first time.  Anyway it is as good as I thought it would be and will only get better as they add content.

The one thing I hated about WoW is I was forced to group with strangers to get any decent loot when friends weren't on.  Not the case in this game.

Bears4Ever, Is it just me or does yellow loot drop a lot more often in D3 then D1 and 2?  It seems everytime I turn around I get another drop.  Although I am leveling all 5 toons fairly equally and I know you get the yellow drops with each character the first time through.

I have not made it passd normal yet due to the way I am leveling all characters and due to being so busy with my daughter graduating high school and all the party's and crap I have had to go to.  Who the hell scheduled graduation the week of the D3 release?   8)

OK stupid question...

How do you melee attack?  I stand right next to the fuckers with a sword equipped and mouse click away when they are targeted and nothing.  I just get my ass beat.

No problems targeting and hitting with ranged attacks.  Just the swords.  What am I doing wrong?
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Pekin on June 04, 2012, 05:16:01 pm
What do you have as your left click attack?  Do you have a skill there and if so what is it?

Your left and right click buttons should both have a skill in them.  Plus then you have the numbered skills you can use as well.

Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Pekin on June 05, 2012, 05:23:10 pm
First off you can hold shift down while left clicking the target and you will not run.  This helps with non melee classes.  If not if you miss the target you actually run right up next to it.  I suspect this might be what is happening.

Second you probably do not have a skill that uses a melee weapon as a wizard.  In this game melee weapons for non melee character add to spell damage.

The melee classes are the monk and barbarian.  The rest are not.

Just bought a copy of Just Cause 2 (xbox version) from the used bin the other day...... So much fun.  I don't know how I missed this game when it came out......... :)

A tongue and cheek, politically incorrect voice acting, open world game where you cause chaos to overthow the government on an "asian" island....

The game physics are over the top, but like the voice acting, it adds to the charm.

An example of gameplay that had me laughing in stitches:

I hijacked an attack helocopter flying overhead (latched onto it with my grapple, punched out the pilot and stole it) and headed to the nearest town I wanted to "cleanse" of the government presence. You befriend 3 rebel factions on the island who sometimes come by to "help" (sometimes not and only get you in trouble :D). I find some of my psycopathic followers battling soldiers down below and decide to join in.

Not wanting to waste my own guys with the helocopter's rockets and miniguns, I land the copter and begin tearing in to the the reinforcements that are starting to arrive with my trusty M-16. Suddenly, the whole area is getting peppered by rockets and minigun fire. One of my "followers" had taken the helocopter and was in the process of saturating the area with fire (including yours' truly).

I quickly back away from the beaten zone and hijack the helocopter back from him (grapple, punch out and steal again). Just in time to have a "missile lock" announcement come over the headphones (I was near a military base that usually have a few SAMs around). The helo takes a hit, begins to disintegrate,  and I bail out (you have built in parachute). Down below, the firefight is almost over with my followers having won the bloody encounter.

I float down to a friendly vehicle with a machinegun mounted on it and the driver begins driving around (saying things like "By the blood of my ancestors, I love 'dis !"). We drive around shooting up stuff until the military finally destroys the vehicle. I escape the pursuit and run away to fight another day......

The game is insane and very much fun ! In addition, the grapple can be used to latch things to other things (like a tire, crate, table etc to a vehicle) and allow you to drag it behind you. I used a statue head (of the "great leader" which I destroyed) and slung it under a transport chopter to decimate a military base.

You can fly everything you can find (helos, prop and jet planes, even 4 engine transports/passenger jets) and drive any vehicle (from motorcyles, taxi-cycles, cars and military vehicles).

Its worth checking out if you like open-world games- especially since its older and can be found cheap :D

Found you can buy old Atari titles on Xbox 360. Was hunting around and played the demo of Adventure. lol....man, did that bring back the memories! It's funny because it plays exactly like the console, even to the point of the items flashing like crazy when there's too many items on the screen at once.

Well, gone and done it now....got my son involved in WoW. Both made panda's...me, a hunter...of course...and made him a mage. Both in the same server, Exodus or whatever it was called, lol. Funny I keep calling things wrong names, been so long. Definately a learning curve getting back to things. Still not even close yet. Forgot a mage could sheep mobs, lol. Can't remember half of my abilities and I'm sure they've changed during the last upgrade anyway. Gotta read up on it again. We're presently just doing the 'free tour' deal to 20 but I play on upgrading both him and I to pay soon. Can't group together in free, just help each other. Makes it even more interesting when the entire thing has changed including alot of the quests. Been to a few spots expecting the 'old questline' only to find the place has changed entirely and I don't even know where I am! Forgot Deadmines is not only a 15 level dungeon but also playable at 80 in heroic mode. LOTS to figure out....

My computer has a major overheating problem and after buying many different components to try and get it to stop I have decided to buy a new one but won't have the cash available until sometime in October.

Going to get me a new Alienware which will set me back about 2 grand.

I am not sure I want to play WoW again but if I do it won't be until then.  To many games that are just as good have no monthly fee now.

Pekin - Mine was acting up and rebooting and not booting up and doing the BSOD.

I opened her up removed the video card and got a big ass can of air and cleaned that **** all out.  Then all the dust in the case and power supply.  Fukcing dust everywere from being under the desk all those years.  It has worked like new since then.

EQ is pretty decent, but yea not as good. Was considering trying Guild Wars 2. In fact, right now, they've got a trial deal going till the 25th I believe. Free to download and try.
As far as the cleaning deal, I have to clean mine at least once every 6 months to keep it cool and working good. The fans get all gunked up and air circulation drops. Suckers are dust magnets!
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Pekin on August 23, 2013, 05:58:25 pm
Trust me I have cleaned it very, very well many, many times.  I have an AMD chip and they run hot.  I think the mother board has become heat sensitive.  I thought about replacing it as well but really how much money do you sink into an old computer before you just replace it.

Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Sportster on August 26, 2013, 05:41:40 pm
Played a little bit of guild wars 2 and EQ 2 lately. I think EQ 2 is probably the best out there right now. Seems they really dumbed down Wow. EQ 2 is virtually the same as it used to be- fun and challenging. I died quite a few times playing that, only a couple times on GW 2 and not at all on Wow. EQ you gotta be on your toes. I upped for a month on Wow but I may be sticking with EQ 2!

Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Sportster on August 30, 2013, 04:17:35 pm
Definitely airflow issues there. And probably dust jammed in the cooling fins or the contact with the cooling fins and cpu opened up. A more powerful fan would probably do the trick, yea....
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Pekin on August 30, 2013, 05:55:35 pm
Nope.  I have taken everything apart and cleaned it each time I replace something.  I have replaced the fan and heat sink with a copper one supposd to be the bomb.  I have replaced the cpu, graphics card and power source.  I have cleaned off the old then re-applyed the thermal paste using the good stuff on the cpu several times.

AMD's run really hot and I think the mother board has become susceptible to heat.  I  also always have regular fan sitting in front of the computer blowing the heat away.

I can play web browser games all day long, even 5 at once and no problems.

I can play Diablo 3 or Civ 5 for  10 to 20 minutes then the computer just goes black.

Bill and Sporty this is the same computer I played WoW with you guys with and it used to over heat and shut down.  I fixed it by cleaning it and keeping an exterior fan on it.  It would still over het but only once in a great while.

One day it was finally done after it blacked out.  I replaced the CPU and it worked again but still over heats and even more often then it did before.

Been playing alot of WoW lately with the kids. They love it. Brings back alot of memories the various places I go. Rolled a hordie as well as a couple Alliance toons. Never got deep into the Horde realm. They've got some kind of 'Raid of Ogrimmar' going on now. That whole area is FULL of L90 elite and above NPC's. Not sure what they expect a raid to do that has fifteen 90elites on em plus a boss. Crazy!

Our upstairs PC is the newer one, I rebuild the insides on it about a year ago. Reused a older HD though and it going south. So bought a new HD and also cleaned the insides of the case, fans, etc. It's amazing how much dust can accumulate in 6 months time. I usually clean em out every 6 months. Fans are all caked up with dust and even the cpu fan and fins needed vac'd out. But now can't get the Acronis clone image to work on new drive. So am working through that issue. Doing a ckdsk on the old unit. Hopefully that fixes it so I can get that image on the drive. If not, fresh install on the horizon.....ugh.....

Well...this sucks. I've been back playing WoW now for about a month or so give or take. Just getting back into the fun of things and tonight I get on and notice my characters are naked. Not a good sign. Nearly all of them ripped off. Account was hacked somehow. I had this happen when I was playing before. Had a authenticator on it after that. Didn't have it on now. So now I've got to screw around with support and get them to redo the account and all this other bs headache crap I didn't need. It's not as easy adding a authenticator now as it was back then. I've got two accounts and can only have the authenticator on my phone. But I use both accounts so how the hell I'm going to set this up who knows. As I said, this is some bs headache crap I didn't need. This was supposed to just be a fun getaway for my son and daughter and I and now it's become a major headache. I'm so completely tempted to just say screw this I don't need it cancel and wipe the whole fricking thing; I'm done!!! Just so completely disheartened by it all. Just wanted to have a fun time with the kids and now this bs. So now I'm scanning the computer and trying to find the fking virus and all this bs......so sick of this!!!! Did NOT need this headache AT all, not with trying to figure out how to get that new HD going while working straight 12's this week......7 in a row. Where I'm gonna get the time to do this, who knows......

http://www.ign.com/wikis/guild-wars-2

I bought and started playing Guild Wars 2 a week ago.  So far I really like it.  The graphics are better and more realistic then WoW.  Plus no subscription fee.  Also the world changes constantly.  There are also individual instances as well as instances you need to party to complete.  I have not done any partying yet still going through the individual storylines of my characters.

Still learning the game but it has some interesting aspects.  For instance your skills are based on what class you are as well as what weapon you are using.

Also no tanks, healers and dps.  Every class does dps and has a heal spell.  Which does away with the healer/tank dynamic.  Which I feel is a good thing.

Been playing a lot of WoW lately. Started Raiding which is a challenge. They have a LFR, looking for raid, feature now which lets you cue for Raids like instances. Pretty fun. Our old Guild bank is now my bank, the entire thing, lol. I've got it stuffed with herbs and glyphs and enchants and fabrics and added another tab. Thinking about growing it...unsure yet if I want to get into managing a Guild though.

Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Sportster on February 22, 2014, 02:19:58 pm
Really up to you. I play a few times a week. My son and I hit instances together a couple and then I raid a couple and sell glyphs alot. No one at all active in the guild except me. The LFR, looking for raid, made it fun for me. Easier to get in a raid and get some decent stuff. Tell ya though, it's REALLY changed. Much faster! You don't get in a group and plan out this is what you do here, this is what you do there, you just get in it and wham off to the races! At the big bosses they might tell a couple beneficial things, stay out of this, don't attack when he's in Defense mode, etc. But other than that, it's wham bam thank you ma'am! Quite a difference from when we grouped....for sure....they don't wait for nothing!

Hey Bill, did you come on Dbilly today? If not, someone got into your account because it was active today. Tried talking to you, him, but he was continually AFK.
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: wmljohn on March 04, 2014, 11:28:54 am
Yeah.  I did it.  I walked away from the computer and went AFK for a long time.  It eventually logged me out.  I was doing some solo questing and stuff and trying to remember how to play.  I hit 85.  I might be re-hooked now.  I kept asking if anyone was home in /g but no one answered.  You must have logged on when I was AFK for the day.

I am no longer and enchanter.  When my account got hacked last year when I wasn't playing someone changed my max skills from enchanting and tailoring to max mining and flower picking.  I guess they were using Dbilly as a farmbot.  Blizzard could not reset my skills.

So now I am a master farmer Mage.
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Sportster on March 04, 2014, 07:33:42 pm
Did you still have all your stuff? I got hacked about three months ago and they very quickly took him apart. Took quite awhile to get everything back to normal. I would definately recommend a authenticator. Can do it through a smart phone. Strange that someone would just use your character to farm with. They evidently didn't like your choice of abilities, lol.
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: wmljohn on March 05, 2014, 07:23:14 am
It happened back when I first stopped playing.  I got most of the stuff back.  They did do some leveling with him but I assume that was to get to higher zones for higher nodes.  They gave back most of his gear but couldn't change the skills back.

After all that happened I did put on the authenticator and everything else they offer.  I had to sign up for other things when I just reactivated my account.

I am playing it.  I find the tech web confusing as I got it as a digital download and do not have a manual.  Once I do some research and figure that out I think it will be much more enjoyable.

I have played a ton of the Civ games so other then that it seems pretty familiar.  Once I get the tech web down to know the best things to research to get where I want while also keeping health in the green I should be good to go.

So far so good with the expansion.  I am even liking the garrison stuff they added in.  Blowing up the dark portal in the begining was epic stuff.

I hate to admit it but this is an awesome expansion.  If  you do come back get on lightbringer and you can eithter boost to 90 or I can level my warrior with you or transfer over.  He is only level 1 and currently a mule in ironforge.

The only rough part about the launch is that more came back to the game then anticipated and there were waits to get into the game.  They are getting shorter now after a few days but in know my GL was number 2000 in queue and it took him like 4 hours before he got on.

If you get some free game time use it.

Just got an xbox 360 for my minecraft addicted kid this Christmas.

Any suggestions on racing games, particularly ones with solid city driving graphics?

So far I just have a demo of Burnout Paradise that I will probably buy full soon.

LOL VJ, we just got a 360 for Christmas also.
Our oldest son (who is married and on his own) got a XBOX One from his wife so he gave us the 360.
I just kind of simmed through my first season as owner of the Bears, lost the NFC Championship. My first draft sucked, getting ready to start the 2nd season.

I usually sim most of the season, play enough to make the playoffs and then play during the playoffs then back to the offseason.
this 2015 version is so much different than the old Wii version I had from like 2013.

I'll tell ya, these stupid online games are addicting! I've been getting the itch to play EQ2 again. Remember Antonica? Zek, the orcish wastes?? Just logging in with the music going brings back a load of memories. I barely remember how to play my Ranger, Sporty, lol. EQ is a bit tougher fighting than Wow anymore. They've dumbed Wow down too much IMO. EQ2 is more for think it through type playing. You can't just run up to a skeleton and start wailing, he might bring five others with him, lol!

I am logged into WoW right now.  I have gone to the dark side and have some Horde toons.

I still have EQ2 installed.  I assume you are playing the free version?  Or have you signed up for it again?  When can I catch you on and what server?   I have actually thought about installing EQ1 and just logging in to check it out.  :)

Alright!  Sportster and Pekin!!!

I have started all new on a new server.  I want to learn how to tank.  I am on the dark side.  I am an evil mother fucker killing humans.

I need some **** DPS and a **** Healer to play with on a regular!

You two need to reload and come help.  A new expansion is coming out in the future with Demon Hunter class in it.

What you say guys?  Are you with me?  If we get sporty's son we almost have a full group to play almost all the time.  It's winter.  Nothing to do but sit at home on the weekends and play WoW.

Really would like to get the band back together....

Dalaran = login damnit!

Post by: Pekin on December 18, 2015, 07:03:25 pm
I have a totally bad ass cyberpower PC now however my solid state drive is almost full.  No way I could get WoW on there.  I could put it on my second regular drive but that would be slower.  Still WAY faster then that old over heating hunk of **** I had I used to play WoW on.

I am not sure I am prepared to download all of that and pay a monthly fee again though.  So many good games that have no monthly fees now.  Also don't want to do all that then we never play.

We did have a lot of fun for a long time though when we were playing a lot together.

We always played alliance.  He means he made a horde character orc warrior.

The answer is WoW.

Post by: Sportster on December 18, 2015, 10:39:47 pm
Haven't played in over a year. My son keeps asking 'when we gonna do Wow again, dad??'. Told him maybe this winter, so we'll see. I've got so many characters spread all over I can't keep track of em. Do have some Hordies but can't remember on what server. I really prefer Alliance, guess I'm more familiar with their cities and like them better, layout wise. A level 6 Orc, ehh? Is that the tank you want to use? Start from ground up? Got a AMD machine that's decent but the son would have to play on a slow laptop. Would be fun, though...again, lol. Every now and again I'll log into EQII and tear things up. Brings back a truckload of memories....

Yes from ground up.  I am starting over.  New server new faction.  Well kind of new faction.  Been playing a bit on lightbringer server.

The four of us would rock Azeroth Pekin.  Don't be left out.  :)

Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Sportster on December 20, 2015, 06:45:26 pm
One big thing that is starting to concern me is the lack of discipline. We've had some major F-ups regarding penalties. Forte has a huge run, has to be brought back because of holding on the line. The last few games they've been very undisciplined with penalties which keeps putting the team in 3rd and 25 situations. It's ridiculous. It's hard enough to move this offense without constantly shooting yourself in the foot...

Sporty?  Pekin?  New Year.  New start.

Lets rock Azeroth.  What do you say?  Dbully is level 10.  Been keeping him around there waiting.  Cuttler is a 23 hunter.  Blokie is a 12 Shaman.  Dbanker is a 10 rogue in Ogrimar.

Why not try to get back into and see how it goes?

Barring a poker game tonight I will be in Azeroth.  You two are ignoring me but I will be there waiting.  Poker game is most likely not going to happen because we played last night till 2:00 am and I think I am coming down with some kind of crud.  Thera-flu twice already.  Once when I got home and once just now when I woke up from the thera-flu drug induced coma.

I don't even have the game loaded on this computer.  I don't think I am willing to pay 15 bucks a month to play a game I already bought.  There are way to many other games that are free to play.  I would be willing to pay 15 a month if it was new and revolutionary like WoW was back in the day.

Fuckin - A!!
We got another board member that has taken the leap.  He is leveling a rogue right now.  I will not name him because for some reason he didn't post in this thread and instead sent a private message on the board.  He may want to remain anonymous.  I will let him decide if he wants to come out of the closet.

Dalarn Characters...
Dbanker - Rogue Goblin level 10 parked in Ogrimar
Dbully - Orc Warrior level 16 Miner and flower picker - waiting for everyone to join him for some dungeons
Blokie - Tauren Shaman Level 14 Jeweler and Inscription
Szczur - Blood elf Mage Level 5.  Tailor and Enchanter - Will boost him to 100 when I get the expansion free boost.  I know how to play Mage and leveled 3 to 100 in the past so this is the boost.  Gotta learn the other classes
Cuttler - Blood Elf Hunter Level 40 skinner and leather worker.  A leveling character while waiting for everyone on the boards to get back into the groove.

Chat on the Wandering Isle

Players on the Wandering Isle
often are stunned when they cannot speak to anyone who is not also on
the Isle with them. They come to the conclusion that chat must be
broken, which is simply not true. The Wandering Isle is as isolated as
it gets and it is meant to be that way.

There are no global chat
channels and no whispers. The exception to this rule is Battletag and
RealID friends who will still be available for whispers. Otherwise, you
are pretty much on your own till you leave the Pandaren starting zone.
As soon as you leave the Wandering Isle your chat will function as

I am thinking we should join an established guild.  That way we get the guild perks they already earned.  Dbully is in a guild named Semper Fi.  I haven't participated much but they seem cool.  I think they have a minimum age limit though.  They used to do raids but recently they apparently had a mass exodus of raiders for a bigger raiding guild.  They had some drama and now want to build back up the numbers.

No. Both alts are now at L6. Going to do some leveling tomorrow with him. How far should we go, level wise? And what city should we try to get to? Ogrimmar? Do you still have to wait till L20 to ride mounts? Or has that changed?
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: wmljohn on February 06, 2016, 07:47:51 am
Yes 20 for riding.  Ogrimar if fine.  I can get to most.  Blokie is my lowest and he is in his 20s.  So Just level away.  I got 20s 30s and 40s to play.  Dbully the tank is 40 something.  So is Cuttler the hunter.  I am in Atlantic City this weekend so not much play time for me.  You get as many levels as you need.

Grrrr...  OK.  Blokie is 21 so I am going to be on tonight.  We can get together and do some dungeons or some leveling.

Kubis joined Dbully's guild last night.  He was on after you guys logged out and I was still banking.  I was just doing some leveling on Cuttler while waiting for you guys to catch up to Dbully.

I am almost 100... and all the things i hated about the game are back in full force... have to do dailies to get anywhere... i dont want to do chores in a video game... that is no fun....
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Sportster on March 04, 2016, 07:25:30 am
What expansion do you have to buy to get to 100? And I remember doing those stupid dailies. Man, is it tedious! When it got to that point, I just started farming or doing other things, playing other characters. I don't do one thing too long. I like PVP so that's about the one thing I did a lot of.
And yeah, think we can group up this weekend. Not sure if Fri or Sat night but def one or both of them. I'm almost L40, about a bar away. Kid is still around 34 so gotta get him motivated to move up a couple at least. Will tell him to do some leveling tonight while I'm out with the wife playing volleyball and eating. If I do get on it'll probably be 10ish or so give or take. Maybe a bit later. We'll see...it's funny....when I first started playing this back near the beginning 05' 06' or so grouping up to play a dungeon was a big deal. Had to all group up at the stone, then summon each one individually, then buff up eat up, then have a plan, do it methodically, etc etc. Carefully proceed. Now? LOL! Random group...all pop up inside the dungeon not even having to travel to it, burn the place down so quick it's hard to even grab anything off the mobs and try to heal the tank at the same time while he's running ahead attacking everything. Get through it so fast you have to go back through and pick up the stuff you had to leave behind, lol. Crazy....just BAM BAM BAM done.

Yes.  The new expansion coming out is Legion.  Introducing the Demon Hunter class and epic weapons.  And level 110 I think.  You get that and you get a free level 100 boost.

Expected ETA on or before September 21, 2016

Was on last night with my son and he started up a conv with a guy who invited us to a run through of Molten Core and BRD. Unknown to us because my memory sucks is that MC is a raid. We got through BRD and had a few nice drops and then ended up in MC with this 100 mage and he burned the place down! Purples were dropping like mad, it was unreal. My son got like 9 purples and I think I've got the same, probably half that useable on the character. It was unreal. I've never had a run through like that and the guy did it for free. We were darned near equipped in purples in one freaking run! It was great....

I've seriously got the WoW bug again. Thanks Bill. Feel like I'm a addict, sneaking a hit here and there. Wife's not home? Gotta check my sales on the AH. Gotta get my inscription up so I can make more gold. Being in BRD again last night brought it all back. Tons of memories with this crazy game and all based on unreality....bits and zeros in a computer.....how can you have memories of that, like you do having been somewhere? Really bizarre stuff...
And if you watch 'FaceOff' on Syfy where these makeup artists compete to win money, this week they're doing WoW characters.

Play time this weekend...

My daughter has a competition in Ocean City MD this weekend.  We will be driving up Friday and back to VA on Monday morning.  I will be playing Friday, Saturday and maybe Sunday night this weekend.  Stuck in a hotel with not much else to do.  Are you guys going to be on?  I would love to run through some TBC dungeons.
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Sportster on March 31, 2016, 02:52:35 pm
Friday, possibly. Sat night is date night with the wifey, may get on late though. Sun night is doable. Tĺzz (T, alt code 0229, zz) my L92 mage which I'm finally figuring out how to play after the L90 boost, and Sraebog (gobearS  ;D ) is, I think, L62ish, then I've got FârmerFran a L 30ish druid, my farming alt. So I've got a few to group with now and wanna start a hunter. Son is L92 also and around 60's.

Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: method on March 31, 2016, 03:53:52 pm

I need to get up in item level before I can get in some of the better instances. If you get any drops with 530 or better cloth intellect or mail hunter items, even greens, I'd take those for me and my son. That way we can get into better instances. Send it to Sraebog-Dalaran. Would be much appreciated. I've run Slag Mines so many times now it's getting old, lol. Oh look Slag Mines...again....

Bill, do you remember when we started playing WoW? Was in back in 05'? It was at the end of vanilla if I remember. Because I remember it being a whole lot tougher than it is now and having to walk everywhere till Level 60 and having to walk to a instance until they got the summoning stones. Was looking on Youtube at some vanilla videos. Toughest thing I think I ever did on old WoW was getting the think it was swim form for my druid. Holy cow was that a questline. Took forever!

Yeah, remember the training deal lol. Ok, just got a axe that I've never wielded before, looks like I gotta go wail on some stupid mob that won't die while I hit and hit and hit and hit and hit and hit it etc etc and watch the skill go up slowly, lol. Yep, remember that! Jump in the water, swim around in circles while going up in skill, lol. Lot's of meaningless wastes of time lol. And the waaaaalking....sheesh....that was half the game, walking everywhere!

Max stacks of 20?  LOL bag space was precious!

I was playing fine earlier before I left for dinner.  I guess everyone else in the hotel showed up and connected.  My speed is down to 48 MBPS and unplayable.  I might give it an hour or two to see if folks go to bed around here.  But since it is a major cheerleading competition weekend I think all these teen girls are instagramming and ****.

If it doesn't speed up in an hour or so I might try to hotspot my phone and see if that give me a better faster connections.  The lag was just horrible.

I'm a mage at 100 now, he's a hunter at 96. I'm geared for heroics and raids he is not, yet. The timewarp dungeon event got me geared up pretty quickly. My poor original character, Sporty the druid, has been sitting idle for years now. He started it all and is stuck around the 70's/80's somewhere. I'm trying to get my hunter Whiteheart up on alliance on Exodar. Kinda miss playing those characters. Thinking about getting my other hunter Fhantom up to 100 and then transferring him to horde and Dalaran, if that's even possible. No sense in having two hunters on Exodar.

Server is Dalaran. Faction is Horde. Roll a healer. Look up which healer is best in high level dungeons, I'm not sure. We're at 100. If you boost to 90 it wouldn't take long to get up with us.

Whoohoo, welcome back! My characters name is Tĺzz.   T alt code 134 zz    hold down alt and type the 134 and you'll get ĺ, so add him. My sons name is Zzanthos. My kids are on it right now so if you see 'me' online it's 'them'. Bill's gonna be happy. We had all sorts of probs last night, Bill was slow *cough cough* and players were leaving, lol and trying to kick him. So we need some playing time together.

Do instances for leveling. You'll get geared up and it goes much faster. Hit 100 and build your garrison. It's a new deal that is really pretty cool. You get followers and you can also have a bodyguard follower for doing quests in Draenor. You'll notice right away the speed of instances is very fast. They get in, burn everything down as quick as possible and are gone, out, done. Bill was freaking lol. It's not like it used to be with taking your time, marking, working through it and then doing it. It's BAM BAM BAM done, gone, on to the next and very little talking. With us together we can take our time or whatever. But in pugs, yeah...flash bang bam.

Will be on later, probably 8ish. Bill was on I saw awhile ago. If you want we can do some lower dungeons together, if we can with your level or even questing-whatever together. Looking forward to it!

Shadetollith

It looks like all of my old characters are gone.

Is there a way to retrieve old toons?  Mainly concerned about the alliance toons that were in their 80's.

Also we should just start our own guild again, imo.

Pabulum Draconis FTW!!!

We need you.  PUGs suck ass.

They tried to boot me like three times last night.  I suck as a tank.  I need more practice.  :)

If you used your old account they should all still be there.  Did you set up a new account?

It might be because you are on a 7 day free trial maybe?

Did you boost to 90?  If so we can run regular Dalaran dungeons tonight to gear you up and get you back into the swing of things.
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Pekin on May 14, 2016, 06:58:43 pm
I used my old account.  I did get the free 7 day trial but after I boosted to 90 I couldn't play the character (can only play lvl 20 or lower) so I went ahead and paid for 3 months times.

None of my old toons are there.
Title: Re: Video Gaming

They should be. I would send a ticket. All my old toons are on all the servers.

Just got LEEEROYYYYY AHJENKINNNNNNS!! As follower, lol. Did heroic upper blackrock spire. Also picked up Millhouse Manawhateverhisnameis, lol. Got my 25 followers. It's hilarious that you wake him up from sleeping and it starts a 'chicken' timer. Time for him to cook some chicken up and you to wipe the instance clean.

I'm learning after having done this now for 3+ months there's a whole lot to learn about the garrison. Just found out that if you build a enchanters study in your garrison and assign a follower there, you can put illusion chants on your items. If you like the glow of a certain chant, you can set that on your item with the original chants stats. Think I'm just scratching the surface of info on this garrison deal. Lots to know and learn....
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: wmljohn on May 17, 2016, 01:10:57 pm
I am pretty sure you can purchase those chants on the AH.  I have a chanter on the other server with a level 3 house.  I think I can make them but of course can not mail across servers.

I wasn't able to get on last night but I think I saw Pekin on.
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Sportster on May 17, 2016, 01:44:48 pm
Yeah he's been on lately. If you have Magister Krelas as a follower, check out his staff. It is the coolest looking staff I've seen in this game. Has 'Power Torrent' chant on it and it glows from a firey color to a bluish translucent. Really cool. So I found out they got rid of that staff awhile ago, but there's one like it but different color so I farmed it last night and am wanting to do the Torrent chant on it and transmogrify it. But need the enchanters study to do that or if you know the name of the auction house item.

Post by: wmljohn on May 17, 2016, 02:14:09 pm
If I get time tonight I will log on my other 100 mage on the other server and check.  I will also check to see if it is BOE.  I am almost sure it is.
Title: Re: Video Gaming

Level 92 now.  The garrison is pretty cool.  I got my followers doing missions and getting me loot and or experience for themselves.

I am also eligible for the next dungeon instance since dinging 92.
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Sportster on May 18, 2016, 08:54:07 am
Had a nice guy invite me to use his garrison's enchanter and now have the transmog and Power Torrent illusion chant on it. Very cool. And Peke, read up on the followers. There's actually guides that will lead you around where and how to get each one. I'm starting to replace some of my earlier ones with better ones without having to use one of those resource expensive retraining guides. Just using the L2 Inn to get the abilities and traits on the followers I want. Each week you can specify a follower with a certain trait or ability you want. I've got three gold farmer now that double and sometimes triple the amt of gold from each mission. You can also do this with oil and resources. Garrison is actually now one of my favorite pastimes in the game.

Once you have Vol'jin's Headhunters rep to revered you can purchase a plan to build an oil rig.  I have it on one of my other characters on the other server.  Unfortunately it is not account wide.  :(

Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: wmljohn on May 23, 2016, 02:22:04 pm
I just remembered it is a three day weekend.  We have three nights to rock this **** and get some awesome gear for everyone.

Dungeon Rewards
Loot from Timewalking bosses scales up to ilvl 660 at lvl 100, with a chance it can be Warforged and ilvl 675 instead. Use our Timewarped items filter or visit our Burning Crusade/Wrath dungeon pages to see what items you can pick up.

In 6.2.2, Timewalking Dungeons will have a chance to drop items that drop in the Heroic versions - items such as  Primal Nether,  Frozen Orb,  Music Roll: Mountains of Thunder, and  Reins of the Blue Proto-Drake. Recipes and music rolls will also drop.

Completing 5 Timewalking dungeons for  A Burning Path Through Time,  A Shattered Path Through Time, or  A Frozen Path Through Time rewards a  Seal of Inevitable Fate, 500 and a  Iron Fleet Treasure Chest which can contain any Normal-Mode armor from Hellfire Citadel (ilvl 690-705), appropriate to your loot specialization. Use this set of filters and then add the "Requires Loot Specialization" filter to see what you can get for your spec.

You can pick up the quest from Seer Kazal in your Garrison.

The bonus roll can be used on the following bosses:
Hellfire Citadel: Hellfire Assault, Iron Reaver, Kormrok, Gorefiend, Hellfire High Council, Kilrogg Deadeye, Shadow-Lord Iskar, Socrethar the Eternal, Tyrant Velhari, Fel Lord Zakuun, Xhul'horac, Mannoroth, Archimonde
Warlords Mythic Dungeons: Auchindoun, Bloodmaul Slag Mines, Everbloom, Grimrail Depot, Iron Docks, Shadowmoon Burial Grounds, Skyreach, UBRS

Timewarped Badges
Timewarped Badge is a currency added in 6.2.2. It drops from Timewalking bosses and can be used to purchase nostalgia-themed items.

Each holiday has a different NPC with unique items. During the Burning Crusade holiday, there is Cupri in Shattrath, by the Terrace of Light. During the Wrath Timewalking Event, Auzin sells different additional items in Dalaran, by the fountain. During Cataclysm, there is Kiatke in Stormwind and Orgrimmar.

Rowett@RowettSSSep 03
@WarcraftDevs Are the Timewalking vendors also available outside of the Timewalking weekends?
ReplyRetweetFavorite
WarcraftDevs@WarcraftDevsSep 04
@RowettSS The vendors will stay spawned for 24 hours after the event ends, so there’s time to spend currency earned at the last minute.
ReplyRetweetFavorite

Timewarped badges are awarded when:
Killing a boss - 5
Killing an end boss - 10
Completing a random dungeon - 10
Completing the dungeon while your role is up for Call to Arms - 50
The once-per-event quest  The Swirling Vial,  The Swirling Vial or  The Unstable Prism - 500
Since the Timewalking mounts and toys are account-wide, do the quests for 500 badges on multiple characters so, for example, one can work on a mount while the other works on a toy at the same time.

Mounts
The Burning Crusade Timewalking mount is  Reins of the Eclipse Dragonhawk, sold by Cupri or 5000: Captured from the renegade blood elves at Eclipse Point (Eclipsion Dragonhawk), these purple dragonhawks were often sought after by Scryers posted to the Sanctum of the Stars.

The Wrath Timewalking mount is  Bridle of the Ironbound Wraithcharger, sold by Auzin for 5000: Its ethereal spirit is barely contained by its iron shell. The penultimate creation of Salanar the Horseman, these powerful steeds were once thought to have all been destroyed.

Tank Warrior
Heal Priest
DPS Mage
DPS Hunter
DPS Rogue

We could rock any dungeon.

I am fine healing for our group.  You guys might give me **** but won't get irate.

Not ready to be yelled at by a bunch of guys nerd raging if I make a mistake in a raid.

I am level 95 now so I might be able to make it to 100.  Not sure though.

Been playing as a shadow priest leveling so am familiar with that build.  Will take a bit to get good at healing but I should catch on fairly quick.

I played as Holy Priest as Alliance but everything I read is that now discipline and shadow use the same gear so I chose discipline to heal with.  Just got to get used to it.

How did you get flying in one weekend?? I looked at the reqs for that and it's fricking unreal! You must have spent all weekend on that! I can't even scratch the surface of it!
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: wmljohn on May 25, 2016, 06:57:03 am
Some of the achievements are account wide.  I had a bunch done on another server (lightbringer) so I completed what I started and didn't have done on that toon.  The ones I didn't have started or mostly done I did on Dbully.  The Rep grind was the worst part.  My mage on lightbringer was closest to the required reps so that is where I did that.

Most of it on the other server was done just completing all the quest lines for each zone.

Crap!  I was looking for the quest giver for timewalking and couldn't find it.  Opened the game calendar and noticed timewalking for LOTLK starts this Wednesday June 1.  We will be doing that next weekend.

I guess we will have to get Pekin some gear and levels tonight.  Did you finish silver to get into heroics Pekin?

Nope.  I beat it healing and I have beat it doing damage but nothing has changed.  Honestly forgot about it after that.

I will have to look up the quest and see what is going wrong.

So it looks like if I host the server on my office computer it will throttle my bandwidth.  I am most likely just going to have it hosted for about $4/Month for 10 connections.  That should be plenty for us and anyone else we want to add.

Who will use it if I get it?  It will also be easier to catch each other when we log in if we don't have to watch for chat announcements for log ins.  Just log in and yell pekin sucks big green donkey dicks.

I would have to find my headphone mic set up.  I think my kids ran off with it.  This computer is fully capable of handling it though (unlike my old one) if you want to go that route.  I am not sure it is necessary though since we have only played together one time so far...

I am level 98 and over halfway to 99.

get a cheap one at radio shack.  The got cheap ones less than $20.  You don't have to have the uber surround sound turtle beach headset I got.  I got tired of buying the cheap ones.

Sporty is right.  When I am off soloing I really don't pay any attention to chat so I miss the /tells.  I will have it set up tonight.  Are we going to get together to time walk WoTLK dungeons?  Pick up the quest in your garrison so when you do 5 you get a piece of raid gear.

Hey did you guys happen to get the item that gives you a quest last night from the time warp dungeon we did?

I went to Dalaran and turned it in.  I got 500 timewarp tokens and was able to buy a ton of lvl 615 gear that only cost 25 to 50 tokens each.  You can also use them to buy an epic mount, toys, heirloom upgrades or reputation.

I also read up on disc priest healing and I was doing it all wrong.  I was trying to run it like a holy priest.  I need to bubble the tank each fight then heal him.  If I don't get better I will have to respec to Holy as I was used to it from before.  Plus I didn't even give everyone the stamina boost because I had forgotten about them.
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: wmljohn on June 04, 2016, 05:32:32 pm
Yeah.  I got the prism.  I haven't turned it in yet.  We will get more tokens tonight when we kill more bosses and complete more dungeons.
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: wmljohn on June 04, 2016, 05:33:55 pm
Did you get the healbot addon?  Hopefully all of us will  be on and we can run some Dreanor regulars and you can get some experience using it.
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Pekin on June 04, 2016, 08:12:31 pm
Not yet.  I am not sure I will need it.  I just bubble you and use penance.  Only using Heal and flash heal in an emergency.  Last night since I didn't use power word shield on you I couldn't keep up due to them being on timers.

Disc priests power word shield is stronger then holy priests and with another one of their abilities it speeds up casting time.  So hoping I can do a better job tonight.  If not may have to wait until I am lvl 100 as that gives another nice boost and ability for healing.

I should be.  I got healbot working but it seems to be geared for a Holy priest not a discipline priest.  I haven't had time to mess with it much to figure it out.

I may have to switch to Holy at some point because I know how to play that.  Disc uses the same gear as shadow spec which is why I picked it.  Also I only have like 160 gold due to a garrison upgrade so we can't be wiping a lot or will run out of gold.

Depending on everyone's iLevel and how we do in heroics we might want to try to get into mythics for the 680-700 gear.  Same mechanics as heroics just adjusted HP and damage.

If heroics are still upgrades for everyone we can hit them for a while then get into mythics.

Method - whats the update on the graphics card?  If I build a new machine want me to mail you my old one?  ;)

I went and saw the Warcraft movie today.  It was pretty good.  My wife even liked it and she doesn't play.  My 22 yr old daughter really liked it.

It was cool seeing the places in the game brought to life and there were a few easter egg type things that people who play the game will enjoy but doesn't detract from the experience of people who don't play.

It was typical of most first movies that they plan to make into a series in that it had a lot of characters to introduce and story to set up so not all of the characters were developed.  Lots of combat and the special effects were really well done especially the magic.

I hope it does well enough that they continue to make more as originally planned.  The guy who played Lothar does a good job.  He is the same actor that is the main character in Vikings.

It was a huge hit in China... so sequel will most likely follow.

I watched it too, but found myself getting caught up with differences in the story from how the games play out, instead of just enjoying the movie.

I will be on tonight for shure.  Tomorrow night I might and might not.  We will be at the National Harbor for the Beer, Bourbon and Barbecue event.  It might be hard to play when I get back to the hotel room after taste testing those three things all day long!   ;D

That was my B-Day and F-Day gift from my mother-in-law.  She paid for the room and the event ticket.   :D

He was on something around 1am. I was just finishing up some garrison stuff on Sraebog and he was in PVP mode. So we definitely missed each other, again, last night. Maybe we'll get the timing down sooner or later...

Well I'm kind of screwed now.  Got logged out of battle.net and can't log back in.  I have my account protected with the authentication token and text.  Since that is all linked to my work phone that I lost at Nationals Ball Park Wednesday during the Cubs game I can't log in.

Tried to download the authinticator onto this loaner work phone but to activate it with my account they send the text code to my old number.  This sucks.  I can not get my work email on this phone either.  It looks like I might not be able to log in until I get me a replacement phone.  :(

If you DL the authenticator, it gives you a work around for that. I had to do it myself because I forgot to uninstall and move the authenticator from my old phone to my new one. I thought man I'm screwed, but it has a work around to fix that. If I remember right, you have a serial number you need to input. Or you could just probably call Blizz and work it out with them.

I'm like Peke, still leveling alts and getting ready for the next xpac. Got a second garrison going finally. I'm going to try to get my priest leveled up and working on my DK as well so I'll have some choices when we do finally group up. Also thinking about bringing over one of my hunters from alliance.

OK saw you guys on earlier.  talked to pekin but sporty had us on ignore.  We need to take some **** down tonight.  I will be back on no later than 10 EST (that's 9 for you guys if you didn't know).  I didn't know this was a timewalking weekend but it looks like cata time walking if you guys and the boy want to try and 4 man it.  Unless method got his video card worked out.  Then we can 5 man them and get 5 done for the raid rewards.

I still also need some heroics for the legendary ring quest.

Pekin has the healbot but needs to learn it.  I don't mind dying for him to learn.  Just not with a bunch of pansy PUG bitches.

I was messing with heal bot today.  It was all set up for holy healing.  I figured out how to change it and how to use it a little bit.  It was worse then useless the way it was before I changed it.  Trying to use it is what caused the last wipe.  Disc use shield and penance.  Neither of those were even an option until I changed it today.

I will keep messing with it before switching to holy spec.  Part of the problem is disc are not good at healing spiky damage.  Holy can heal right through while Disc has to mitigate the damage with shield and pain suppression.  The trick is knowing when to use pain suppression right before the damage spike.

I may still end up switching to holy but then I will need all new gear.

Are we game tonight?  I am off today so I am ready to rock and roll.

I just did heroic docks.  No wipes.  One guy didn't like my tanking.  He was a warrior so I guess I wasn't as elite as he was.  The Healer in the group told him to **** off because he thought I was doing fine.  I think I wasn't moving fast enough for the warrior.

Got my damn compass though.

Should be able to play some tomorrow, Sat, night. Probably last time for a couple weeks as we're going on a two week vacation and I'm letting my sub lapse until I get back. It ends on the 6th so I'll just resub when I get back. That way I can pay for both my sons and mine at the same time and there's no sense in resub if I'm not using it for a couple weeks. Sraebog is 100, has heroic silver done unbelievably on my FIRST try-it took my mage like fifteen, crazy. Am getting geared up doing PVP. So will be ready to rock the good stuff soon.

I am pretty beat.  My mom had open heart surgery to replace a valve and is in the ICU.  She is doing well in her recovery but I am taking care of her pets which has been a chore.  Having to get up early to get their before work then dropping by again to take care of them on the way home. Plus we have had a heat wave so we can't keep the dog outside where he normally is and he is freaking out with her not there and being locked up.  We have been keeping him in the laundry room which has concrete floors and he has had diarrhea.  Today he ate through that door and was working on the door up from the basement when I got there from work.

He **** all over her carpeting in several places in the basement.  Plus if he had gotten through that door he would have eaten her parrot, two cockatiels and her dove.

It was disgusting and I do not do well with bad smells.  I have been retching for days cleaning up after him.  Today was the final straw though, he is back outside.  Tomorrow is the last day of the dangerous heat and he is just going to have to deal with it.

Tomorrow my wife and I have to bring some heavy duty cleaning supplies and finish the clean up job of the carpet.  Plus go see my mom at the hospital.  On top of it all my father in law had colon cancer and had to have major surgery two weeks ago and is still in a nursing home recovering from that.  The mother in law doesn't drive well and so she either has to take a taxi, drive and be a bundle of nerves or we take her.  On the weekends we usually take her.

So probably won't get on.  However I have pre-purchased the xpack.

Will pray for ya Peke! Sounds like you're going through the wringer.

As for Wow, try to log in when ya get a chance. There's a huge xpac update, 20gb to DL. the pre xpac update deal. It made some big changes to my characters and I'm going to have to relearn to play my shadow priest all over again. It also, strangely, gave me a ability to increase 'insanity' whatever that is and when I use it, in 3 minutes it kills me. So now I have a ability to use that will kill me. Nice thinking, Blizz.

Well, so far I don't care for the changes they've made in this xpac. Ashran PVP is kind of worthless now. And the changes to my character and also glyphs is not to my liking. I think that doing these xpacs, they make too many changes and it affects game play too much. This last one, Draenor, was one of their better xpacs IMO. The garrison is a great idea. But I'm seeing some regressing on this next xpac, even to the point I may drop back out from playing. Will see but so far, not so good....

Can anybody give me there experience with DirectTV and Uverse for internet. Was wondering if Cub games are on Comcast Chicago and of course they have the Sunday ticket that is free your first year. Thinking about switching from cable to DTV.
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: wmljohn on July 26, 2016, 12:17:01 pm
I love my DirecTV.  Have had it for over 15 years.  I can't live without the NFL season ticket.  I love to choose the game I want to watch not the NFC East every week.  Chiman in Spotsylvania the Cubs are blacked out unless they are a national broadcast on ESPN, TBS, MLB Network or other national game.  They are on those channels plenty enough for me to not pay for the MLB season package.

I have Verizon fios for internet so I can not speak to the DirecTV internet service.  I believe it is through hughesnet.

Bill, do you remember what year we started playing Wow? Was that back in like 05' or 06'? It was shortly after vanilla if I remember right, or maybe at the tail end of it. Because I remember having to level new weapons, learn how to swim, hunters having ammo and short a bag because of quivers, doing twinking in PVP and having walk forever everywhere. If Blizz started a vanilla server, would you join it? I may for the nostalgia.
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Pekin on July 30, 2016, 09:39:36 am
It wasn't vanilla.  It was the second or third expansion pack I believe.  I am thinking it was the 2nd and soon after they released the third.  But yeah we had to walk everywhere to get flight paths because we couldn't ride yet.  Now they have quests that fly you to the new zone to get the flight paths.  Much more efficient but makes the game way easier.

I bought the new xpack so I can start playing the new demon hunter class Tuesday.  I expect they will be rolling out the pre-xpack world events soon.  Those were always fun in the past.

I think Pekin is right.  It was right after or before TBC was launched I think.

I just checked my account history and it dates back to July 2007.  TBC  was released in January 2007.  WoTLK was released in November 2008.

I'm looking at the wow timeline in gamepedia and I think we were playing in 06' because the Dark Portal opened Jan. 9th of 07' and I remember that and before that, before Outlands. I've put in a ticket to ask them if they know when I started playing, month/year and that it was Sporty on Exodar server. I think it was 06', at least for me anyway. Hopefully will find out for sure soon here...
And I'm considering bringing the ol' guy over to the new server, Sporty. Feeling nostalgic and he's been parked so long. Might actually bring him and one of the hunters over. Better than simply sitting not playing em.
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Sportster on July 31, 2016, 10:45:38 pm
Well, doing more research, apparently it was 07' because Exodar server started the same time Burning Crusade was released, in January. So we must have started around Jan of 07' because I can swear I remember that portal deal because it was a big deal when it opened. But memory can be deceiving so will have to wait and find out for sure when...

Man, you've got some old ones on there. You asking 'wow is 5 man groups, right?' lol. We should find a vanilla type server and build some characters on that, lol, just for old times sake. I'll see if I can find some old ones I have and post em.

Apparently there is some kind of DDOS attack going on.  Can not log on from my car through my phone.  Was on for a few minutes to do some garrison stuffs then got booted and cant get back on.

They have had a lot of those lately. Think some of it is coming from some who are upset that Blizz shut down that huge vanilla server, Nosralgia think it was called.

I think it also has to do with their new silence command or something.  If you can get 20+ people to complain about someone in chat they get silenced from everything but group chat until a GM can review it.

I couldn't play last night but I found the fix.  If anyone is having issues this will fix it.

We pushed a hotfix that caused some players to experience Error 134, and we've reverted the hotfix so the issue should no longer be occurring. If you're still seeing this error message because of a duplicate key, let's delete your WoW Cache:

◾Open Battle.net App and click on Options◾Select "Show in explorer" and open the WoW folder◾Highlight the Cache folder and delete it◾Try logging in

"Options" is in the box just under the "World Of Warcraft Legion" Logo located to the left of the box and a little above center.

I wasn't home much at all over the weekend so I didn't get a chance to log in and play.

I will most definitely try to log in Tuesday night though.  Gotta make a demon hunter.

Have been doing more BG's now since they screwed up Ashran. It's basically a mosh pit blender now where you just go down to XR and blast each other. Events are worthless. Used to be fun to play but boy it's really messed up now and the funny thing is they finally put a 'Ashran' tab on the PVP journal but now everyone is playing BG's because you rarely get anything in Ashran worth a darned. Will prob get the xpac this week and build a DH like every other player playing the game. Would like to boost something though, too, if they still have that....

Got my DH going. It's pretty decent so far, still a learning curve like everything. They put the thing at start darned near at 100. Am presently 99 and the quests to move up are ridiculously easy so far. Still want to figure out the strongest character in Legion and build one with the 100 boost deal...seems each xpack changes the characters around, weakens some and strengthens others...

Stupid me.  I created a DE DH.  Got him through everything and to 100 then realized DH are not neutral and choose factions.  Stupid me.  I thought DE was the only race for them.

Had to delete and re create Dbryzzo as a Blood Elf.  He is now through everything and at 100 ready to roll.

Yes.  Good stuff.

Although we all know this gear will be starter grade when the new xpac drops.  That is what they have always done in the past anyway.
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: method on August 20, 2016, 03:57:38 pm
I think last couple of rounds they have made the pre-release gear be about 110% of xpac starter gear. so you can use it for 3ish levels.

Anyone else gaming tonight and tomorrow night?  I will be on if we want to do something.  I haven't touched Dbully or Dbryzzo since launch but Szczur is at 107.

Since everything scales now I don't think level gaps mean much anymore in the new dungeons.

Check these out.  Pretty cool and reasonably priced.  Perfect for the computer room.  They have them for movies, video games of several genres.  Fall out, Skyrim, Legend Of Zelda, Star Wars, Game Of Thrones, etc.

The small ones are only thirty bucks.  The big ones are 75 to 100 so not that bad.

Nice!

It looks a lot like mine except newer and better components.

The nice thing is with cases like this we can just buy new components when we want to upgrade because there will always be plenty of room!

We think alike lol. I have been for the last month checking, looking, contemplating what to build and have both a Intel and Ryzen build going on PCpartpicker.com. Have been batting back and forth on which to get...a i7, i5 or the new Ryzen. Had a real cool looking tempered glass sided case I was considering, but I really like that case of yours Bill. Where did you get that from? I want a glass side panel to showcase the colors I'm planning. Here is the first build I was considering:

AMD - Ryzen 5 1500X 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
 $176.99

Gigabyte - GA-AX370-Gaming K5 ATX AM4 Motherboard
 $151.98

G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory
 $133.88

Western Digital - Black PCIe 256GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive
 $109.99

Hitachi - Ultrastar 7K4000 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
 $65.99

EVGA - GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB ACX 2.0 Video Card
 $134.89

Phanteks - Enthoo Pro M Tempered Glass ATX Mid Tower Case
 $107.98

EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
 $88.49

Microsoft - Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit
 $89.89
 Total: $1060.08
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: method on June 21, 2017, 06:29:10 pm
dont waste your cash on a i7. short of doing heavy DB work or video editing there is really no need for a chip with that kinda juice these days. esp if only in it for gaming.

I would spend the money on a larger M.2 drive. Also strongly recommend the Asus ROG boards over gigabyte. and go intel over AMD. The price point isnt that far apart and AMD imo has lost ground to intel over the last 3-4 years.

I got the Vengeance case at Newegg.  It was about $100.  It comes in Military green or a flat black I think was the other choice.  I got the Military Green.  The handles on top make it an easy carry and the sides have clip on clamps.

Pekin - I can change the color of the LED or even have them cycle.  I have the green fade effect going in and out.  Kind of like Guldan's heart beat.  :)

They are in Beta of TSM4.  Might want to wait till it goes live to try it.  It does everything.  I can post 200 auctions in three seconds with the click of my mouse.  The sniper function scans the AH in real time for way under-priced items that just get posted so you can buy them out immediately and resell for the market value and profit.  I can look through my recipe lists and find out what items I can craft and sell and it will tell me if I can make a profit or take a loss doing it based on market data history.  There is a whole gold making community out there.  I have not gotten near their level of making gold but I make plenty for me.  Some dude has worked the market and bought up enough WoW Tokens that he has both his accounts paid for through 2020.  He plays for free.

Pekin - Im going to try Elder Scroll online this weekend.  Is there a server or something I need to be looking for?
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: Pekin on February 02, 2018, 04:46:52 pm
Just pick the North American server.

I like the fact the quests are more then go kill 5 goblins.  Each quest line tells a story and completing quest lines open things up in the game.

Plus you can adventure anywhere due to the mobs always being set to your level.  I enjoy being able to solo and still enjoy the game instead of it being a drag.

I have not done any multi player dungeons or pvp so can't comment on that.

I also like that you have to block or use your weapon using your mouse.  You don't just auto attack or auto block.  The typical tank, healer, dps is still in play in dungeons.  I have not played a lot but have enjoyed it when I have had the time.  I also like the feel of the game better then WoW as far as the graphics not being as cartoony.

Its set up to be like how the game was when Burning Crusade came out... so level cap is 70... and you gain xp 5 times faster then normal.

Check it out at Warmane.com

You can play various versions so any expansion you like can be player to.

Went to warmane and created a account. They have several expansions to choose from. Which do we want? There's BC, Wrath OT Lich king, Mists, and Cata. BC? They show servers and player count. The one BC server has 3386 players on it. You guys need to go check it out and see what you think. The most players on a server is over 5k.

It is old school so doesn't take up much space and is a fairly quick download.  You do have to download BitTorrent and get a Gmail account but not a big deal and is fairly quick.

DLing now. Going to start a Druid, probably named Sporty from 2007 and a hunter named Whiteheart, from a year or two later than that. Gonna get on and fiddle some tonight and my son is interested also. Gotta figure out tank heals etc

Lol, this is pretty dang cool. The XP comes pretty fast on it. I have arrows again, ugh lol. Gone from latest xpac to first I was ever on, again. A bit of a changeup but getting used to it quickly. Gotta find some addons that will work with this, like questhelper or Titanpanel. But definitely cool.
Thanks, Method, for mentioning this!

OMG addons...  How am I going to live with the stock GUI?  What will I do without ElvUI?  What will I do without tradeskillmaster?  Auctioneer?  Zygor?  Healbot?  GTFO? Omen threat meter?

That is the only thing about the Beta that sucks.  No addons.

K, thanks. Yeah bags is a BIG issue right now. No space for anything. Not fun being poor again, lol. And as far as addons, just search for BC addons. There's plenty to be had. I've got Healbot, Titanpanel, Auctionator, Questhelper, Recount, Tradeskill master, Cartographer and a couple others. It is SLOW going for sure having to walk everywhere. Am L13 presently on hunter. Need to level the druid next and the healer.

I'm learning something real quick I had forgotten back in the good ol BC days......BC sucks, lol. Totally lost in Ogrimmar. Not the same as it is in Legion. Did Raging Chasm there, got in a group, so am now based in Og. But everything is just a PITA lol. Now wandering around looking for the arrow merchant. Gotta train the pet, not to mention FEED him. Died a few times doing RC and ran out of meat and pet almost took off because he was 'unhappy'. Feed feed feed. Then find more food to feed with very limited bag space and coin. Def a PITA.....funny how everything looks rosy in hindsight until you get a chance to relive it. Appreciate some of the changes they put in the game, not all, but many....

I was on Sportina till 3am roughly. Am almost level 20. It's such a pain running around. Can't wait to get a mount at 30....hard to believe I liked this back then....takes a ton of patience and time walking everywhere.

Post by: Pekin on June 02, 2018, 08:01:04 pm
What time will you guys be on tonight.  Where shall we meet?

One thing I noticed is like method said the leveling is really quick.  I keep leveling out of my quests.

I think we should all try and get to the same place and close to something we can run so we aren't wasting all our time trying to find one another.

Also the graphics really do suck balls.  Can't believe how much better they are now.

The Entire history of WoW from one of the lead engineers. Pretty interesting stuff! Playing BC, I find myself kinda wishing I had gone to maybe Wotlk or later server. For the most part I like BC, but miss certain things from newer expansions like the dungeon finder. I am having fun and it's hard to beat a free server for sure. It's just a bit more time consuming than I want presently.

Just redid my paid Wow and I am so lost. They redid talents and I can't find the demon hunter trainer. No, I just want to find out if my talents are ok and train them.  So lost and confused....my age is showing badly....

What level is he?  You don't need trainers now as far as I know.  I think the only trainer I used is the portal trainer for the new bfa portals.

You need to read the wowhead returning players information.

Szczur is 120 and doing the first wing of Uldir with my guild.  We did the first last weekend and will be running it again this weekend.

L110. Haven't bought the xpac yet and unsure if I will. Having a lot of fun on the Warmane TBC server. That's probably what's screwing me up on the paid. Looking for trainer, Orgimmar being night and day different. Trying to remember everything. I'll see if I can find the returning players info...

Huh....I haven't seen anything from you. I'll check my settings to see if something's up there. I've been doing a ton of PVP and very possibly just missed it in the battles. I usually don't have the sound turned up much so if it dings, chances are I miss it. You're talking the new xpac, right? I'm on TBC more than the new doing PVP. Started a new character on the new one, a Shaman which I've never played and it's a challenge to get up to speed on it.

I'm trying this new xpac out but so far don't care for it at all. Way too confusing. How many different lands are there in this thing? I think I'm in a area where I can become a different character?? A void elf or something? I don't get this at all....

You can unlock different races.  I haven't bothered with those as of yet.  What level are you?  What race and what class are you playing?  Give me a time and I can see if I can get on and do something together.  The Zandalar story line is really pretty good.

Nope.  Been doing pen and paper Dungeons and Dragons on virtual table top.  I have been DMing games.  Got two groups right now doing Waterdeep Dragon Heist.  I even got into streaming them.  Still play WoW and everyone in my D&D groups are guild mates and we raid every Friday and Saturday nights in WoW.  D&D VTT with Fantasy Grounds (www.fantasygrounds.com) every Thursday nights.  Twitch TV look for wmljohn1.  I also have the first session up on youtube channel wmljohn.  We are still working out the kinks but it's fun to get back into old school D&D.

I might be starting up another campaign for another group soon if anyone is interested into playing old school roll the dice D&D on a Virtual Table Top.

Anyone playing vanilla Wow Classic? Just started a couple toons this past week and both are L11. It's slow going for sure but I do like it. I started right before BC came out so got a taste of it back in the day. There are a literal TON of people playing it. Server is always on the high side and there are a bunch of them (servers). It really feels like the original, minus the Chinese gold selling dead orcs spelling out 'BUY GOLD' with their dead bodies and the constant server crashes. It's really stable. Actually am enjoying it....

Does the DM enter the information or do you buy the program then buy pre-planned adventures?  Do they have pre-programmed sounds, maps etc, then you can buy more?

What is the actual name of the program so I can look into it myself?
Title: Re: Video Gaming
Post by: wmljohn on November 25, 2019, 09:29:43 am
Fantasy Grounds.  The link to the program is in my first post.  The youtube link is to the campaign I have been running for a group.  The campaign is Waterdeep Dragon Heist.

Does the DM enter the information or do you buy the program then buy pre-planned adventures?  (DOES IT ALL.  You can do home brew, make up one shots or Wizards of the Coast campaigns)  Do they have pre-programmed sounds, (Not built in.  I use Syrinscape and Discord) maps etc (YES), then you can buy more? (YES either through the fantasy grounds store or the DMs Guild (www.dmsguild.com))

What is the actual name of the program so I can look into it myself?  Fantasy Grounds.

I have been using it for almost a year now.  Fantasy Grounds Unity is coming out early 2020 which will have a ton more features.  Map dynamic lighting and line of sight masks for one.

Hey Bill,

Fantasy Grounds is on sale on Steam for ten bucks if you know anyone who needs it.  The add ons are greatly discounted as well if you need any of them.  Steam is really the only way to buy cpu games anymore especially when they have sales going on like now.

I did not buy it though.  Dropped almost 90 bucks today on the 5th edition DnD books.

I could never get my kids interested in it when they were young but now that they are adults they started playing 5th edition.  They have asked me to DM for them but since they live close no need for FG at the moment.

Yeah.  The FG store also has license on sale.  They run the same sale on the Smiteworks store.  I am going to drop my monthly subscription for an owned key.  Then I will purchase another Unity key when they go live with that new VTT.

I am starting a campaign with some folks that will be live broadcast on twitch on Tuesday nights.  I am also starting a game on Saturday nights.  He might need some more players if you are interested.  I have decided to try the Cleric for this one.  Jingdong Macadangdang is his name.

Well.  If you guys want to it would cost you nothing.  I have the ultimate subscription for both Fantasy Ground Classic and Unity.  You could download the software for free and connect to my games for free.  I own all the WotC books for character creations and all that good stuff.  I have several adventures from one shots to campaigns that take you all the way to level 20.  None of the players I run in Dungeon of the Mad Mage on Friday nights has paid a dime and they are the same group who we spent a year running Waterdeep Dragon Heist.

And you are right once we started playing D&D we stopped playing WoW.  It started as a break from raiding and I would run a couple of games for the raiders to take a break and they all got hooked.  Brings back good memories.
