One vote for Karros.

That's a solid list of choices. To me Karros is the safest choice. But I'm voting for Glanville because of his deeper Cubs roots and love for the city.  He's certainly smart/savvy enough for the job.  The only question is how he'd come across for nine innings on a daily basis.

Al Leiter.

I am less interested in "Cub ties" than getting a solid analyst.

Leiter is the best analyst around right now.

I want Jiggy or JBN

JBN would be awesome, albeit not great for ratings.

"This team is beyond bad and, even worse, boring.  An Andy Griffith Show marathon is underway over on TV Land."

I know I'd do a hell of a job.

And I voted for Karros cause I dont think Grace,Sutcliffe,or Stoney are available.

I was limited to 5 options. I felt these were the best 5. I left off Grace due to his legal issues, and Sut because I have seen his interest described as "lukewarm at best".

I think I'm a Karros guy...

Karros for me.

Karros is a favorite of mine,so I hope he gets the job. Brenly was ok,but he wore me out more often as not when his comments strayed away from game action. His marriage advice schtick was mind-numbingly  boring and never once funny.

You'd have to think that broadcasting as many games as they do, it would be pretty hard to come up with original material all the time.

Based on that Suntimes article, it sounds like Plesac is not really an option, and that Sutcliffe may have been a better poll option...

I’d be happy with any of them.  To help decide my favorite, I’m working on a list of things I’d like to know about each of them.  Here’s what I have so far:

Will you promise to

1.  Always say three RBIs instead of three RBI

Why? it's three Runs Batted In, not three Run Batted Ins.

I haven't heard his name mentioned, but I thought Al Leiter did a good job the few times I've seen him.

I liked Stone and I liked Brenly, color or play by play, I even stomached Chip.  I guess in comparison to Harrelson...

My wife loved the Brenly marital advice schtick.

I voted "other" because I want them to bring back Joe Carter!

An awful team (which the Cubs will be for at least two more seasons) deserves an awful announcer too.  It'll give the fans something else to complain about besides the play on the field.  Misery loves company.  Joe Carter in the booth may actually get JBN back posting again.  ;D

Actually, the worse the team is, the better the broadcasters should be.

Viewers need a reason to watch.

From Bruce Levine's chat:

I believe Karros, Moreland, Hollandsworth, Gary Matthews and Dan Plesac will get consideration. Not sure how limited some of them are due to other contracts. But I think all of those names bring something positive to the table.

I always liked Gary Matthews but the Cubs can do way better for this.  Same with Moreland. I hope (and suspect) that Levine is speaking off the top of his head.

I would also like for all of the candidates to punch Tim Mccarver in the head.

I'll try again.  From Bruce Levine's chat:

I was kinda fond of Gary Matthews, the player, but the Cubs can do a lot better for a color guy. Same, to some extent, as to Moreland.  I imagine (and hope) Levine was just guessing.

Ill take Karros or Plesac then if those are my options.

Maybe the Cubs let Len go solo like Vin Scully

Only if he brings Mike Shannon with him...

Or Hawk Harrelson...

Plesac is reportedly going to interview for the Cubs' color job.

One could do much worse than him.

The article also said Eric Karros had an interview scheduled.

One could do much worse than him.

Sure, if one hired Joe Carter.

Other than that, though, one can't imagine doing worse.

Plesac is a clown whose only decent at studio work.  That act over 162 games would wear thin quickly.

I don't care for Plesac at all as an in-game analyst.  Belabors the obvious when I've heard him.

Glad to read that Karros is interested in the job.

Pleasac should only do the studio gig @ MLBTV.A few seasons ago when he was a CSN studio guy he did some stupid act wearing a train engineer cap and making whistle sounds while touting the Cubs winning season. It was a horrible bit.Karros has to be the guy
