As an organization, this is about as healthy as I can recall the Cubs being. They have a good ML roster, solid young players on the farm, and a strong player development program. Why did it take so many decades of my being a fan to get here?
They seem to own Atlanta. Not likely to beat Miami though.
Just scrolled through the free agent pool, and 28 of the top 30 players available (by points scored so far this season) are pitchers. So almost all of the best available players are pitchers.
I know I said this at some point last year, but I'll say it again...we really need to turn one (or both) of the utility hitter roster spots into utility players that can be filled by either a hitter or pitcher. Our roster rules are still based on how teams were built in the mid-90s when a real life roster with 11 pitchers on a 25 player roster still seemed a little excessive.
A little more roster flexibility would be good for this league IMO.
