LA Tribune, used to work with Fangraphs.  Also matched years that ABTY mentioned about 2 years ago.  He also mentioned that teams are calling the Cubs about Samardzija now as well.  He doesn't think he'll be traded though.  I really hope the keep both Garza/Sam now.

Butts mentioned Cubs offered 4/50 to EJax.  Rangers won't match.  Bourn 5/68.5, he'd decline that but might make a counter offer.

Is he saying the Cubs offered Bourn 5/68.5?  I have a hard time believing that. 

Quite frankly, as much as the CF market is starting to dry and with a 2nd round pick hanging over him, I think Bourn would probably be happy at 5/68.5 by now.

I'm probably alone in this...but if the Cubs are going to give up a second round draft pick, I'd rather see them sign Swisher than Bourn.  I just am not a big fan of players who are one-dimensional as Bourn.  His whole game is speed, and he's a pretty lousy player without that. 

I just feel like a 5 year contract for Bourn is really going to backfire on someone.

Yeah, I'd rather they not sign anyone that is going to cost them a draft pick this offseason.  But if they're going to do it, Bourn would definitely not be my ideal target.

I'm not interested in either player at the price and length that are being talked about.  I wouldn't go over 2 years for either player, and that isn't enough to give up a second round draft choice.

I vote "No!" on signing Bourne, Swisher or anybody else that would cost us a draft pick. Our second round pick next year will be earlier than either of our Supplemental Round picks were this year. If we have to sign one or the other, give me Swisher. If Bourn loses his speed, he'll become a $15 per year reserve corner OF.

I'm fine with 4/50 for Jackson, but 5/68 for Bourne would be a terrible contract, even without giving up the pick.  For a guy whose sole above-average skill is speed, that kind of deal at 29 makes no sense.  I don't believe for a second Theo made that offer.
