Keep in mind that creators of both Fangraphs' and Baseball Reference's defensive stats have said that exaggerated shifts can really throw off their metrics.  Soriano was unquestionably better in 2012.  But if you asked scouts, I doubt many would rate him as a good (or even above average) defender.  I think the best you'd get is "a below average defender who was better than that in 2012".
