The first part of the sentence probably isn't necessary.  Even if you expect to win the World Series this year, it is a smart thing to do.  Adding a prospect of even semimarginal ability for 20,000 dollars is probably a good bargain with the restrictions of the new Labor Agreement.

Of course, there is a good chance they will still lose him, as they did Rosario earlier in the winter under pretty much the same circumstances.

Moscoso passes through waivers and is outrighted to AAA.  Nice depth pickup...Rusin probably earned the first shot at a rotation spot with his spring if there's an injury.  But Moscoso is probably the most likely to succeed in the 6th starter role.

If any position is likely to decline in production this year, I think first base is the most likely.

But over the past week or so, Rizzo has been hitting the ball well, but hitting into bad luck.  Hopefully, this will get better in the future.
