Cuzzi and the Cubs (from Ken Rosenthal, who is obviously a Cubs homer who just wants to make excuses for them):

MLB Network just pointed out that the Cubs led the NL in HR, RBI and SLG% for the season from the second spot in the batting order: 34 HR, 98 RBI, .476 SLG.

Pedro's day gig is on the MLB Network.
Great win and fun to see the Cardinals choke.

MLB Network was talking about Maddon having the pitcher hit 8th and showed stats for the Cubs second hitter in the lineup over the course of the year. The Cubs 2 hitters were 1st in the NL in home runs, RBI, and slugging percentage. Interesting.

Yet Cardinal radio announcers kept saying if only the Cards could get into our bad bullpen.

This is an interesting quote from Hendricks. For the first 3+ months of the season, Curt and I (and others, I'm sure) voiced our frustration about the Cubs playing down to opponents. This confirms that Maddon noticed that too.
“It happened right after the All-Star break,” said Kyle Hendricks. “We had a little meeting with (Joe Maddon) at the beginning of the second half. I think we changed our mentality from there.”
Sunday Notes: Cubs, Pirates, Managers, more
The Cubs are a confident team. They should be. Despite a lack of experience at several key positions, Joe Maddon’s squad finished with the third-best record in baseball. Last night, they evened u...

Apparently Rondon was locked in the bullpen bathroom for about 5 minutes in game 1.

I believe that the report was that happened after the game.

Odd news re: Teagarden with regard to timing...was Ross possibly concussed on that foul tip?
