Oh, they're still celebrating. Which feels weird after a loss especially. But they deserve to enjoy it together, and hopefully repeat it in a week and a half after a proper victory

They should severely limit Arrieta's pitch counts over his last two starts.

Call me crazy, but I think it might be a good thing they lost today.

I'd much rather face the Cardinals in a one game play-in than the Pirates.

Pirates for NL Central Champs!

Except that I'd also prefer to play the Cardinals in a playoff series.

Can't have both, though. Board poll time!

Would you rather:

1) Have to get through the Pirates in order to face the Cardinals?

OR

2) Have to get through the Cardinals in order to face the Pirates?

I'll take option 2. One game deciding the fate of the entire season against the Pirates is rough. Give me five games against them, though, and I like our chances better.

I'm with you, tico.  With the season the Cardinals have had, beating the Cubs would be no big deal, but were we to take them out...the pain for the Cardinals would be unreal.  One and out TO THE CUBS!  YES!

I'd prefer to play the Pirates in the wildcard elimination game.

It is still strange to see some people more interested in causing grief for Cardinal fans than in the Cubs actually winning.

It's strange that you infer that from that post.

It is not just that single post.

I'd rather play the Cards:
1) they don't have a Cole (without Wainright) and Pirates seem hotter right now;
2) IF we could beat them in WC game, we could celebrate even more than if we beat Pirates
3) If they beat us, Bucs would still have home-field advantage vs them and I'd prefer to see Pirates advance to NLCS than the Cards.

Honestly, I'm just happy the Cubs are in the playoffs, whomever they face.  Hoping that they advance to the NLDS (especially since I can actually attend at least one game if they do). But if they don't this will have still been one Hell of a season and I am confident that it is only a taste of the future.

And can I just say, after watching I really don't know how many managers for the Cubs, I just love Joe Maddon.
