Most places a .741 OPS is an improvement over a .551 OPS.

To those looking at it rationally, yes, but fans have a habit of suspending rational thought.

Would've been hard to match a .550 OPS. Yes, he improved his BA, but it was an empty .740 OPS. Maybe we're talking baby steps here, but 1 homer, 4 RBI, and 3 unintentional walks in 80 PA's doesn't inspire confidence in me. Perhaps I'm the only one.

Or maybe it is 80 PA and it is too small of a sample size?  His ISO was .120, or roughly Kolren Wang's ISO (.125).  Last year his ISO was .155 with the Cubs.

Somebody pointed out on Twitter that the wild card game is scheduled to start at 7:08 or in military time 19:08.

It certainly doesn't inspire confidence in me.

But it does inspire a lot of reasonable hope.

In 1908 they had a third baseman named Heinie.  This year they have a third baseman who HAS a Heinie.

Baez had a solid OPS despite the unfavorable K/HR/BB peripherals because he sported a .411 BABIP. 

He'll obviously need to add HR's to approach this kind of OPS in future.

Baez went 0-1 today. Finishes at .733 OPS, not .742.

I mean it is 80 PA. I don't think you can draw anything from it except that he cut down on his swing and miss.
