I wonder who starts at catcher in game 2.  Ross obviously goes game 1 but with Garcia going game 2, do you start Montero or Ross?  Or does Maddon do something crazy and start Schwarber behind the plate?  I'm really curious what the lineup will be like for game 2.  Will Jackson, Soler, or Denorfia play? 

A few thoughts...

-  Castro sure turns the DP well for a guy that's only been there for a few months.  Someone on here posted a few years back that scouts thought he was out of position, and he could be a natural fit at 2B.  Really happy for him.

-  I loved Schwarber/Bryant in the corner outfield position, and think that should be the plan moving forward.  With that said, much credit to Bryant after he moved to third last night.  Two huge plays over there....

-  Rodriguez clearly mouthed..... "I'm going to F*@*#&n kill you..... you f(*$&*%  b*%&CH......." towards whoever (Ross?) from the dugout.  I had a good time trying to explain all that behavior to my six year old.

-  Not sure I've ever seen anything like the Cubs postgame celebration in the game of baseball.  Silly cheers, clapping, hands glued to a helmet..... I enjoyed it a great deal.

-  Arrieta is an interesting cat, eh? My hunch is he's kind of seen an odd duck in the clubhouse.  Labored in those last couple innings... had visions of Prior, who everyone thought was this mental superman before caving in the Bartman game.  Glad Arrieta worked through it.  Too bad he can only go once vs. the Cards, but Game three will be pivotal. Sweep, avoid a sweep, or go up a pivotal 2-1....

-  Fowler sure turned things around since the all-star break.  He was so bad vs. righties in the first half. 

- That was the biggest strike zone I've seen in quite some time.

- Clint Hurdle (who I like) started his presser by talking about bull riding analogies.  I'm glad we have the manager we do..... seems to have a really understanding and knack for communicating with all sorts of folks. 

- Do we decide between signing Price and re-signing Arrieta?  I hope at least one is an option.

-  Lester with the potential of two starts coming up.  Time to earn that $$$.  I feel good with him in this spot...

-  My family and I went to Wrigley at the end of July.  At some point when things are slow this winter I'll write all about it.  We arrived the day after Hamels no hit us..... I thought we were going to be there to see the Cubs completely implode.  Instead they've been the best team in baseball (by quite a bit?) since the start of August.

- Lastly, my son went to bed (after the first inning) last night in his Cubs shirt.  Was sure nice telling him the news....   

Good stuff. Hurdle and Yost get a bad rep from the mathematicians. I like our Joe above all but those guys are okay.

Yeah I believe that was just the Captain Morgan Club outside or attached to Wrigley.

Arizona Phil raised an interesting notion on his site--if Cubs win Cardinals series and advance, Cubs could end up with best record in baseball by end of post-season combining regular season and post-season.  Cubs currently 2 1/2 games behind Cardinals, although I prefer to think of it as a tie going into game one, but there you go.

The bar with Cubs fans (who either weren't paying attention to the game or flipping off the camera) the telecast kept cutting away to.... The last couple times the announcer referred to it as the "draft kings Cubs fan bar".  As if there wasn't enough advertising during the commercials..

It actually IS the "Draft Kings Fantasy Sports Zone".  It's the old Captain Morgan Club that's attached to the ballpark.
