I had Siegrist on my fantasy team most of the year.  He had a fantastic year, piled up as many points as most full time closers.  Can't believe those shots to Rizzo, twice, and Schwarber.  Holy cats.

Siegrist is a reverse splits pitcher. Had .811 opposition OPS from lefties. Way tougher on righties---pitches from 3B side of rubber and high 3/4 delivery, close to overhand. So, think lefties get a good look at him. A workhorse guy. Fowler said after game that Schwarber told Fowler standing in OF during a pitching change that was going to homer off Siegrist. There you go. A called shot.

I was on pins and needles the whole game.  Couldn't sit still but now looking back I think we can say that we were the better team. This is a different team they have no fear.

Both Cubs and Cardinals now with 101 wins for the year.  I had a Cardinal fan tell me, "You can't do that!  You can't count the post season.  If you could count the post season, the Cardinals in past years would have up to 107!"  I said, "We aren't done yet."

Matheny continues to defend starting Lackey, but history says Lackey on short rest and away from Busch is a disaster.  Of course, around here they're already making excuses.  They had injuries, and, yes, they did, probably losing Martinez was the most difficult to overcome, but arrogance won't allow them to concede that the Cubs are becoming a monster machine.

This is just the beginning.  I can't believe that Hoyer will not shore up the starting staff and pen over the winter.  With the offense improving though experience and perhaps an addition, barring major injuries, we should be monsters for the next few years.

It is good to have a great team, but we have had them before.  But it is better to have a great system.
