JBN, Any luck finding any morels?

I have found 8 small greys growing right in my back yard.  I have looked around in the woods with no luck.

I am guessing with all the rain and it finally warming up today and tomorrow will be good days to find them.

In fact the little patch I have been finding them in my back yard I have scowered probably 10 times the last few days and I seem to find one or two each time.  I don't know if they are popping in between checks or if I keep missing them.  The first day I found a few dried out so they must have popped early.  I am putting them in non-chlorinated water with salt and sugar and then I will pour it in the woods behind my house by a dead oak tree hoping they take off there in a few years.  I guess some people have had success spreading the spores that way but it is pretty hit or miss.

I don't believe in it enough to buy a kit but I am trying to make a slurry with any dried out ones I find or ones that are inedible for whatever reason.

Yeah in the woods it may take them another week to get warm enough.

The ones I have found are growing right in my lawn so it probably warms up quicker.

Anyone ever eat gooseberrys?  While looking for morels in the woods behind my house I found quite a few wild gooseberry bushes.  They are flowering right now so they will probably have berrys eventually.

So one of those mornings.  I love when lightning cracks without any warning, and then the rain comes.  That was the start of my morning around 4am.  I said to my wife, are the windows closed?  She answered yes.  Then it occurred to me a sec later, "Not on the Jeep!"  Running out to the garage, grab the windows, and then up the driveway.  The passenger side took a little time with no light while the rain poured down, nice...  The driver side was better lit from the street light and went in pretty quick.  So now I am soaking wet at 4am, on a day off.

But it is a day off...
