Also...nothing against Boog and JD, but it has been so nice listening to Pat and Ron do the games this weekend...
Pat Hughes and Ryan Dempster were a nice change of pace although Dempster would get tiresome if he was a regular.

Sometimes I wonder: at the beginning of the year, what if we had traded Rizzo and/or Baez and kept Darvish and Schwarber?  What if we had kept Mills in the rotation and passed on Trevor Williams?  What if we had passed on Pederson also?  What if we had traded Happ while the trading was good?  Hindsight is 20/20, and we might still be in the same stew, but I don't think so.  I think we'd still be in the hunt for a playoff spot, the Cub rep would be intact to draw interest from free agents, and we could reload.  Sigh.

BTW: Cardinal fans are not rubbing it in these days.  Worse.  They express pity.  Rather have taunting..

The draft is only 10 months away.  Keep chasing that rainbow.

If the Cubs go 10-32 they can lose 100 games this year. Winning 10 games seems optimistic.

David Bote as your cleanup hitter is something.

Wade Miley might have a second no-hitter in him this season.

Oh, good.  Boog can ask Dempster how he feels about the ghost runner, the shift, and the rubber distance.

Demp talking about umpires calling a pitch a strike because it looked like one as it was coming in.

That mean a catcher pulling a pitch back into the zone doesn't do anything, right?

Steele definitely has the stuff to succeed in the big leagues.  The question is whether he can stretch it out over 6 innings and be a starter.  I suppose there's no better time than now to start finding out.

They should also bring Maples up and make him the closer (not that it's a role that has much meaning with this roster).

Has a team ever gone from 10 games over .500 to a 100-loss team?  It feels like we might challenge that record.  Please don't lose 100, Cubs.  There's rebuilding and then there's historically humiliating collapse.

Does it really matter?  I'd take 100 losses and the #4 pick over 99 and the #5 pick.  We were awful before the 2015-16 run and I don't think it did us any harm when we were good.

It is wild to think that on June 25 the Cubs where tied for first place and 9 games over .500.  103 loses is the Cubs all-time record and that seems approachable this year.
