Just for the record, the Cubs would have to go 7-34 the rest of the way to lose 103 games.  As bad as they are that seems unlikely - there are other tanking teams still to be played.

The schedule is weak, but they are winless against the Marlins and Rockies. The only games they really seem to have a chance at winning are against the Pirates.

Somehow the Orioles have actually been worse than the Cubs in their 12 game losing streak.

12 losses in a row by scores that sound like football.

It's baseball.  There's a reason even bad teams usually win 60 games.  For context, a 7-34 pace would amount to about 27-135 over a full season.  With this schedule?  I'm skeptical.  Easy to get caught up in the drama of the moment but this is just a run of the mill crap team, one among many over the course of the franchise and the game.

Rockies and Twins both pull out walk-off victories.  Both are now one win up on Cubs (53 vs 52), and the Cubs have 3 more losses.  Good chance the Cubs aren't going to flip that.  So, Cubs are now situated to draft #8, if the season finished tonight.  Don't think finishing on the wrong side of the Mets pick (#11) is likely.

Cubs are 1, 2, and 3 wins ahead of miami, Washington, and the Royals.  So they've got a shot to still step up a couple more spots in the draft order.  It would be funny if the next cba was fed up with the tanking approach, and modified the draft rules again,, inevitably to the Cubs disadvantage.

Who's going to get the start tomorrow?  Jewell?  Meisinger?

Abbott hasn't pitched since the 11th.  Maybe he comes back?

Jordan Bastian

Ross: Righty Adrian Sampson will come up from Iowa to start Wednesday vs. Reds. Is positioned well to make the start given his workload/timing. Already in Cincy with the Cubs.

Boog missed a series of games a few weeks ago.  All that was said when he returned was that he his healthy.

Now JD is MIA.   Is Hipaa why we are not being told anything?

HIPAA only applies to health care providers, insurance companies or clearing houses.  It doesn’t apply to businesses, media companies or schools.

I’d take a vacation from having to watch this.

Cubs are clinging to a 2-1 lead as we go to the bottom of the seventh.  Rowan Wick is in to replace Hendricks.  Hopefully he and some successors can close it out.

With two runners on and no outs, Akiyama takes a swing at a low inside pitch and misses badly for the first out.

Wick has gotten up 0-2 or 1-2 to all five batters this inning, and he's only been able to finish one of them off (the 5th batter is still hitting).
