I can't wait to not see Heyward's name in that line up ever again. It's crazy how bad the contract turned out. Top ten worst contracts ever? Top 5?
Heyward has been a league average player for four seasons, 2017-2020, during this contract. Compare that to a guy like Todd Hundley, who signed a big 4-year contract (for the day) and had negative WAR for that contract. Heyward has 9.5 bWAR as a Cub.
Obviously, Heyward was expected to be WAY better than that and has been a disappointment but league average is nowhere close to being among worst free agent deals.
