Not really clear what pitcher from the 40-man could be recalled immediately.

I don’t think Ryan is eligible for a recall yet (absent a current pitcher going on IL) and Abbott just threw 89 pitches in a start on Wednesday. Tommy Nance pitched Friday night..

Rowan Wick will be up as soon as he’s ready, obviously, but guessing a bit premature for that.

Who else?

Thompson threw 42 pitches Friday, so he’ll be unavailable for rest of the weekend series but should be good to go on Monday. Also, Cubs are back to a 9-man bullpen and 4-man bench roster, with the Alcantara and Sogard moves. So, lots of relievers. (With Sogard gone, unclear who takes over the blowout position player pitcher role).

Speaking of Wick, he just pitched last night, his 3rd outing, for South Bend.  Gave up his first hit, but he's at 7K/0BB/1H in his 3 innings.  He's been used on a 3-day schedule thus far.  I'd assume they'll be in no rush with him, better to be careful, after 11 months of injury, with rehab that now seems to be succeeding, you'd not want to undo all of that now.  Maybe another week with some every-other day outings included?

There is some speculation that Wick will be recalled the moment Kimbrel is traded.

Boog talking about allowing/not allowing the shift in the top of the first, the bottom of the first, and again in the top of the second.

Just cover the damn game, Boog.

Bases loaded nobody out in third Baez grounds into a double play, runner at third scores. 1 - 0 Cubs.

COntreras with a solo shot.  Cubs need to keep him. Seems like a leader.

The thought came to me that Kimbrel may have thrown his last pitch and Bryant may have hit his last home run and made his last catch to end a game today.
