Hodge figuring out how to locate and throw some strikes, and be the 2024 version, that would be a humungous addition to the bullpen.  For non-Dodgers teams, success seasons sometimes correlate to getting lucky on a couple of guys who might be good but can't be counted on.  Some improbable possibilities working out.  Cubs could use that for Hodge, or Wiggins, or Brown, or for that matter Harvey.  Caissie and Shaw might also kinda be guys like that.

They're keeping the champagne on ice until Tucker signs with someone else and the Cubs lock in their precious second round compensation pick.

This is Negotiating 101.

Here, you have a firm deadline, a date certain——unlike most other FA. Add to that a pinch of uncertainty about a player outside of MLB, until now.

Real negotiating will be at the 11th hour to the deadline. Maybe he signs day before deadline, as did Murakami. Or on judgment day.

Yahoo reports Okamoto Kazuma is in the US and has meetings set up with the Blue Jays, Cubs, Red Sox, Diamondbacks, Padres, Angels, and Pirates.

Maybe it's not true, and he's already met with several of those teams past-tense. 

But if it's actually true, his deadline is next Monday.  Seems unwise to smash 7 visits into the last week.  7 visits, plus analyzing which feels best, which makes best fit baseball-wise, do I care about winning or not, and how much will each team offer...  A whole lot of decision-making to jam into the very last week.  Why not take that a little slower? How much focus and energy will I have if I'm popping to 7 different cities in 6 days or less?  My brain might be fried by the last presentation.

Yeah, that can make it work pretty easily.  Boras can schedule a bundle of visits.  That said, if I was Okamota or Imai, I'd want to actually visit the city, and the clubhouse, and the workout room, and all of that.  Maybe that's already been done, it's just not been the agent/team visit?  Or maybe Boras schedules 90-minute visits on Monday and Tuesday, and then they choose three city-clubhouse visits on New Years, Friday, and Saturday.  Or maybe wintry cities don't want the guys experiencing their cities covered in snow, beats me.

cubs can just schedule time blocks with boras.  Every big ticket of Cubs interest is a Boras guy.
