I noticed that too. Twert me, at least not on purpose.

Why are y’all posting in last year’s topic, and who unlocked it?

Dropping Shelby Miller and picking up Yency Almonte.

After reflection, I think we can finish the draft before that date if everyone pays attention and offers lists, especially when it gets past round 3. The minor league draft usually only lasts a couple days, and the MLB draft can begin when it's over. If we must, we can make the draft timed on the 18th and 19th. Or, we can forego the no backdating that we enforce during the season and allow Dodger and Padre selections in the late rounds. The root of the rule is that we don't want people selecting players because they hit two home runs the day before, but to select someone because they did well in the Korean series is foolish. It would probably backfire by June and be costly to repair.
-
Thanks for the reminder. We may have to do draft before the 20th or the Circle may have to grand an exception.
-
March 4 all keepers, MLB and Minor league keepers due. March 6 minor league draft. MLB draft to be determined. Check your calendars and gift us feedback on which days would be bad for you.
The Dodgers and Padres have a 2 game series in Korea that is part of the regular season on March 20-21. Do we need to get the MLB draft done before that? If we do, we might need to start a week earlier.
-
Okay, everyone is in. Dave spin the wheel.
We will have some minor rule changes and we WILL discuss how an end of season playoff would work ALONGSIDE our regular season finish. After the lottery.

Matt and Todd are in.
-
Todd, you present a cogent argument for playoffs, but this is not the time or place. The league needs a clear statement that you're in or out. You are correct Matt's decision is his; we'll give it the weekend for him to make contact.
-
Actually I was opposed at first because my understanding was that we would stop the normal league and go exclusively to playoffs. I believe others thought the same thing. If we could have our cake and eat it too, that would be wonderful. That's why I think we should talk about it more during the season and take a final vote.
If that is the concern we can have 162 game season so everyone keeps going but also have playoffs which start with 4-5 weeks left in the season.
-
I’m not looking to be a pain but I think playoffs solves some of the problems the league has had.
1. Almost every team can compete for a Top 8 spot which means they will watch their roster, make moves, and not trade away short contract players 1/3 of the way through the season when they see that they can’t win.
2. My decision and Matt’s are independent. He is an adult. With that said he doesn’t check this board very often as he is in school which has a handful of distractions that the other 15 owners (myself included) don’t have. I generally have to tell him to check the board.
3. I have an opinion about how the playoffs (if they are agreed upon) should be run but any format that includes 8 teams (or more) would seem to greatly improve the league and would keep owners involved.
4. I believe my team could have been in the top 4-5 last year but I knew I didn’t have a chance to win so I traded solid players for draft pick compensation so that I might be able to compete this year under the current rules.
5. I appreciate Joe’s kind words. I try to be prepared. I try to make my draft picks for the MiLB and MLB drafts within seconds of the prior pick being posted. I would enjoy having my team in the hunt all season. Unfortunately, unless I do really well in the draft I am short on some superstars that some other teams have so a “single winner” league would make it difficult.
6. I would like to participate again, but I feel like I would be spinning my wheels again for at least 1 more season. Staying on top of this board and my lineup when my team is possibly out of the hunt in June isn’t overly appealing.
7. The best team doesn’t always win the World Series. I think seeing 8 teams make the playoffs would create more fun. If the 8 seed wins….great for them!!
8. I get that I am a relatively new owner by this league’s standards so I will step down from my soapbox now.
-

When we've talked about playoffs and potential formats, there have been maybe 4-5 of us that participate in the conversation and we all voted yes. So I'd like to hear from some of the people who voted against playoffs where they stand.
Are you completely against a playoff system? Or is it more specific to the format? Is there a format you would like, maybe something that's not necessarily head-to-head?
I'm just curious what the real source of disagreement is. Playoffs in general? Format? Something else? I think that's the first thing we have to figure out if we're going to try to implement something by September.
-
JR, sent you a message on Fantrax and here, cheers!
-
Minus the opting out wasn’t that just essentially voted down?
-
Good. That's what I was thinking from emails from Fantrax last year. My thinking we could make the top 8 in the playoffs and anyone of the top 8 who didn't wish to participate could opt out, but Joe tells me that wouldn't work. But I believe if we can have a playoff while finishing the regular season should satisfy everyone.
-
Why does it have to be set before the season starts? Why not establish a shadow league and adapt it when the time comes?
It doesn't I was wrong about that. The playoffs are only allowed in head to head leagues. For a point league like ours it would require copying the league and setting up the copy as a head to head to league and starting the playoffs. That could be done the week the playoffs are starting. You can also have a consolidation playoff round and give the those teams something to compete for..
-
method emailed that he's in. Gives us 14 for sure.

On Fantrax playoffs have to be set up before the season starts.
I'll vote yes on all three just to finish that off. Playoffs where voted a year ago and setting up a playoff system was what needed to done.
I get where some owners don't want any changes and some want more changes. It is a balancing act. We are rapidly approaching a point where if people are not willing to make any changes then teams are going to get contracted because we won't be able to replace them. So when people want no changes they need to understand the league will be smaller. We've frankly been lucky isn't hasn't happened yet. I stepped aside because of time constraints and seeing if someone else can try and keep the league together. People on both sides of the issues made it really unpleasant with threats of leaving.
I started the vote in October and people just didn't vote. That is always the most frustrating part.
I think losing Todd would be a negative for the league. He is one of the more active owners and I'd assume Matt would be gone as well. That would likely mean 2 contractions.
I don't want to lose anyone, but I'd rather have a league of 14 owners who want to be here than otherwise.

Thanks, JR. I think if that's the case, the critical factor is that it still was not formatted. That's what we could determine before September 1. If it fails it fails, but we can't keep the league membership strong if participating depends on who gets the #1 pick or how many moves are allowed or if we have playoffs, IMO.
-
The league pretty much voted to have playoffs, but not how.
Actually it looks like playoffs are now trailing 7-8 with only one owner left (CBJ) who hasn't voted, so that's not going to pass.
-
The league pretty much voted to have playoffs, but not how. That's what will be voted on. If that's not enough for you, please don't stick around. Personally, I want people committed to this league. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but time is short.
-
Is there any reason we can't have a vote on playoffs now? It should take 2 months to get 16 votes. My interest in participating will be strongly influenced by the result of the vote.

We’re struggling with some issues. Some people are unhappy with change, some because there isn’t any change. Joe’s a doctor; he can’t spend as much on this as he’d like. I have committed to him to help out by taking over as the head honcho again with the following:
Dave needs to do the lottery asap so people know where they’re drafting and what they’re trading.
All voting is halted. Looks like some failed anyhow. It's okay. If Joe doesn’t have to do the tedious work and some of us take it back, some changes aren’t necessary.
I promise we will vote on the playoffs once the year starts. I think we can find a way to make everyone happy.
I’m going to ask the following people to help me, the new Circle:
Joe: Fantrax expert
Boris: one of the four faces of Australia
Dave23: long time friend and trusted confidant
Iowa: non-Cub mind
And Matt P. owner of Shadows. Why? Because I need to mentor somebody to take this over one day.
If you are not willing to do the above, please let me know asap.
If you aren’t playing this year, let us know as soon as possible. For those who considered leaving, we aren’t. Stay with your league of 20 years.
Once we have commitments, we need to vote whether to stay at Fantrax or go back to CBS. I would strongly suggest staying here and not costing ourselves CBS fees.
Happy to assist.

Here is what I would like to vote on
1) Adding an 8 team playoff with a week long duration for each round.
2) Changing the transaction limits. Fantrax is unable to separate IL/Demotions from just regular add/drops, waiver claims. It takes me 1-2 hours to go through the transactions and message board to recheck everything and that is an extreme hassel on my end. I don't really want a streaming league either. I would like to change the transaction to 3 weekly and this will include moves. It will give us around 80 transactions for the year, which is where the more active players are. To prevent JR from streaming we can add an innings limit that is greater than what the highest team has had the last two years. Which is around 1500 IP. Fantrax does allow a limit on waiver wire claims. I would like to limit this to 3/season and reset the waiver to league standings weekly. This will help the rebuilding teams. If we don't want to go this way, I'd like have someone step up and take over the tracking and resetting of transactions. We can limit the moves in the playoffs further if needed, the league isn't meant to be a daily moves league.
3) We also need to do a better job of keeping our teams up to date. I have commitments to have people help me look over teams and make sure it isn't a problem like this year. My goal is to be more proactive send out reminders if your team is getting updated. We can stick with the penalty being a player gets released if he isn't activated in time or we can add a new penalty of draft position penalty or having the waiver wire position being adjusted. My preference is to change to penalty so it will penalize people for leaving people on the IL too long My hope is that being more proactive with this, we will be able to avoid this with reminders being sent out.
I'd like to limit the voting to this for this offseason. My hope is to get the league more active and user friendly with less complaints about what happens. The league has lasted this long, because it has been fun and is rooted in the message board. The message board is going to remain vital for the league continuing. If there are other concerns please reach out to me by email or messaging through the board..

I haven’t voted yet and I’d prefer the other owners vote on it.
Curt brought up the point that we still have to deal with Ohtani as well. Once the vote on the roster is finalized I’ll make a ruling on that. I really don’t want to try and get that voted on before the draft.
-
Can we change quorum rules then?
-
Check that...on #3, yes, 9 votes means it passes. 6 votes is still shy.
-
No.
-
Wouldn't 10 owners voting represent a quorum at this point?
-
Going back through this thread it appears that we voted on 3 possible changes. The votes were as follows:
Rule 1) 6-4 in favor of the change
Rule 2) 6-4 in favor of the change
Rule 3) 9-1 in favor of the change
1) 8 team playoff with the first in 1 first place getting a point bonus based off the their lead in the first round. The leader will also get point bonus in the second round, but it will be less.. I will run an analysis to make sure the point total isn't a guarantee win. The playoffs will occur in a separate league and only IL moves will be allowed. The move will have to be made in both leagues. If another add/drop is made in the main league they will not be eligible for the playoff roster, but they will be eligible to be kept. The points will be adjusted on the main league page to reflect the outcome of the playoffs.
2) Move limitations will be weekly. The moves will be capped at 3/week. If a team has not made any moves in a given week and they have more than 3 IL moves that occur in 1 week, they may apply to have the commissioner make additional IL moves. Teams that have done a non-IL add/drop will not be eligible for this. To further prevent streaming an innings cap will be implanted. It will be 50 more innings that the previous league leader in innings. Once you have reached your cap for the year, pitchers will no longer score points and this will apply to the playoffs as well. There will be a limit on waiver wire pick ups of 3/year. The waiver wire will reset weekly based on reverse standings. Waiver wire pick ups will also count towards the 3 moves/week.
3) Rosters need to be updated on a regular basis. Teams will be checked once a week for compliance. Teams that are not compliant will get reminders to make changes every 4 days by their preferred method of communication from the commissioner. After 3 attempts have been made then draft pick penalties of losing 2 spots on your first round pick will be applied. These will continue to happen until the pick becomes the last pick in the first round. If you will be out of town and unable to update your roster, let the commissioner know and this penalty will be waived. Non-compliance will be players on the main roster that need to be placed on the IL or IL players that need to be activated.

I think Joe was having trouble getting people to vote, which was the problem I always had. I don't believe anything was settled.

The Cubs aren't making any moves, but the Shirtballs are ready to deal if anyone wants to get a head start on the 2024 season.
Back-to-back 45 HR guy Kyle Schwarber is available for a 3rd rounder. He'd go in the first round if he was in the draft in 2024, but he's going to be a keeper if I don't trade him.
Springer and Pressly are available for picks a round or two later. Eovaldi is available for a mid-rounder. Jose Leclerc still seems like he's going to be the closer for the world champs, and you can get him for a late round upgrade.
If you're rebuilding, I have players with a lot of team control left who are available--Gorman was on 30 HR pace before he got hurt, and Pfaadt had some standout games in October. Neto and Rocchio are available for very cheap if you're looking to take a chance on a young MI.
I'd also be interested in trading for a SS or SP if you have one to offer.
-
br, make sure he istn't trading from last year's roster.
-
pretty much open to dealing anyone on my roster. Feel free to shoot some offers along!
You have an offer.
-
I'm also ready to trade ove players for draft upgrades (or a top of rotation starter or a shortstop). I could trade some likely keepers who would be very early rounders if they ended up in the draft--Schwarber, Springer, Pressly, Sewald, and Eovaldi, among others.
If anyone wants to risk a late-ish draft pick on a possible reliever bargain, Yennier Cano and Jose Leclerc are available for modest draft upgrades. They look like their teams' probable closers right now, but it's also not hard to see either of them getting pushed to setup roles. If they lock up their jobs by draft time, either could be worth keeping and they'll cost more.
-
Anyhow if anyone's up for some hot stove offseason trading, I have four starting catchers and pretty much open to dealing anyone on my roster. Feel free to shoot some offers along!
I'm not interested in Catchers, but I would be willing to move players from my roster for draft pick upgrades. I like a lot of my players but can't keep all of them.
-

The rule has always been that when a player has the ability to sign with any team, they are a FA and lost.
-
That was my interpretation of the rule too. But I think you're right that the QO timing has changed since that rule was written (10/17), so I wanted to double check.
Probably won't matter...it's hard to see Nola making his decision in the next 10 days anyway. But I thought I'd clarify just in case.
-
The way I read the rule is the end of the QO date if they sign an extension you can keep them. I think the QO used to expire before FA started though.
-
Remind me...if a QO free agent signs an extension in the next 10 days before the QO deadline, are they keepable? Or do they have to actually accept the QO to be keepable?
-
Free agents have been cut from their rosters except for QO free agents. If they don't accept their QO then they will be cut as well.
If you aren't playing to stay with league please let Curt or I know so we can try and find a replacement.

People get upset with change. I'm trying to limit the rules changes to things that will make the league function easier.

I know most owners won't be looking to make moves until February. But since he just hit his 5th NLCS homer in 5 games, now seems like a good time to mention that Kyle Schwarber is going to be available for an good draft pick (or maybe a starting pitcher) this offseason. If anyone wants to make a really early move, send me an offer.

1. Yes. Playoffs are necessary. I will maintain that giving the best team an additional advantage is completely unnecessary and really doesn't make much sense to me. If/when MLB gives the favored teams a 2-0 lead to start each game I will change my opinion.
2. Yes.
3. Yes.

The player would still have to be activated or released.
I guess the penalty shouldn’t be capped in the first round. It would also apply to minor league promotions demotions.
-
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Tentatively Yes, but I have a couple of comments on this one. First, this also applies to minor league call-ups/demotions, right? You didn't actually mention them in the description of the rule, but I'm assuming that's the case.
Second, I think teams still need to lose the player at some point. Otherwise, teams towards the top of the standings have no motivation to activate players if they benefit from leaving them on the IL. I'll just use an example from my team this year...Nathan Eovaldi was activated without a rehab assignment on September 5; he had missed about a month and a half. It was clear he wasn't going to be very helpful the rest of the way based on the amount of time he missed. But since he's a candidate to be a keeper for me next spring, I knew I needed to activate him within a week if I wanted to keep him. Under the new rule, I would've had no reason to activate him (especially if we had playoffs in place for this season).
-
Yes on all three, but are you sure you or others are up for checking rosters once a week? I almost think there might be ways to do decent enough monitoring and following up with absentee owners that doesn’t sound quite as stressful.
It would not take very long to look at a roster. I can do that from my phone relatively quickly on each team. To do the transactions I have to be on a computer with multiple windows to go through everything. It is just more time consuming. If I’m not doing the transactions it gets easier.
-
This would mean that non-IL roster changes are limited to 3/yr, correct? Or are non-timed-waiver-pickups (i.e. the bum reliever that's been available all season vs the hot prospect who isn't owned and just got called up) excluded from the 3/yr count expressed above?
What happens if there's a trade that leaves an owner with an illegal/incomplete roster? Would the pickups needed to return the roster to good standing count against those 3/yr waiver wire pickups?
Waiver wires would only be limited to three per year. That would be when you make a claim on someone that was not in the pool.
If a trade left the roster low that would count against the 3 moves per week. Teams would have to decide if they want somebody thrown into the deal to avoid that. It would only count as a waiver claim if make a claim. An example of a waiver claim for you was Canario and Cowser.

I think it could also cause people to go for it more to try and keep the difference small or make it bigger. It might open up more trading.
-
I wouldn't be in favor of a points benefit to start the playoffs. We have all seen underdogs win championships in almost all sports. If the 8th seed wins the championship so be it. Sometimes a team gets hot for the playoffs. I don't think that team should be penalized. The best team will probably still win, but if it doesn't is that a terrible thing? Once again, it would give teams a reason to stay on top of their rosters. Make the playoffs and you have a shot to win.
-
I wouldn't mind the points advantage in the playoffs, and I like the idea of making it a fraction of the lead. But we might need to cap it at some level so the lead isn't too big.
I noticed someone renewed the league yesterday. Do we need to turn off the ability to make trades in the 2023 version of the league to make sure any moves are made in the new league?

I had a lot of injuries this year. I only had 2 weeks where I had 4 guys go on the IL. There could be an exemption, but I would like to really limit when it applies to discourage making roster changes.
-
Instead of making it a set point total you could make it dependent on the lead at the time. So let’s say BR is first and he has a 200 point lead at the start of the playoffs. Playoffs start at week 20 so he gets 10 points. If his lead is greater he gets more points, if it is closer he gets less.
First team keeps the advantage the first 2 weeks. It is recalculated for week second team has it week 1 only. The playoffs take place in a separate league. Rosters lock at the start of the playoffs and only IL replacements are allowed. The main league continues and say there is a prospect a playoff team can claim gets called up. They would be allowed to claim him in the main league and keep him for next year, but they wouldn’t be allowed to play in the playoffs.
The point totals are easy to edit and the main league page point totals can be adjusted to reflect the playoff results and draft order is based off the playoffs.
-
I don’t know if that can be set up through Fantrax.
What if instead of bye’s the first 2 teams got bonus points in the first two rounds. Say first round #1 gets 20 points and #2 gets 10. Second round #1 gets 10 and #2 gets 5 (point values are just examples and could be figured depending on how points are scored in a week). Point total matters and Dave could still beat up on you in the first round.

An 8 team playoff would need around 3 weeks if it was 7 days and 14 days would make it 6 weeks. Which would mean we would be starting right around the trade deadline.
I'm just suggesting the championship round should get the extra days, not the entire playoffs. If we gave it 10-11 days to give both teams a chance to go twice through their rotation, that would be around 3 1/2 weeks. So this year, it would've been round 1 from Sept. 4-10; round 2 on Sept. 11-17; and championship round from Sept. 18-27 or 28. As an aside, I hadn't really thought about the trade deadline. But it might be a good idea to move it up by a week or 10 days with any playoff system.
To give 2 buys would require 10 teams in the playoffs. All of those are can be done. It looks like you can run a playoff by making a playoff from the current league. I need Curt to make me primary commissioner to be able to access it though. So that might not be impossible.
Two byes could be done with 8 teams, but I think it would require an extra round and probably couldn't be set up to be run automatically through Fantrax...so that's not ideal. I've suggested a system before where #1 seed automatically goes to the finals; other playoff teams play a tournament to get to the finals:
Round 1: 3 vs. 8, 4 vs. 7, 5 vs. 6; 2 gets a bye
Round 2: 2 vs. opponent of their choice (or lowest seed remaining), other two seeds play
Round 3: 2 remaining teams play
Championship: winner of tournament plays full season point leader
-
To use this year’s standings as the number 1 seed BR would get Old Style. DDK would get Rynos. Pallindromes get Divers and Method would me. The 1 seed would have the easiest path to championship. [/b]
The hell you say!
-
I’m happy to send reminders to people by text or email. If you want texts just send me your number. There would be multiple attempts before any penalties would be enforced.

I thought about if somebody has a rough injury week and allowing more moves. If they hadn’t made any moves and end up with 5 guys on the IL, that would be an easy yes. What if JR makes his 3 moves on Monday and then gets hit with an IL? do we grant him 1. I’m not opposed to giving extra moves for excessive injuries it would just need to be spelled out exactly what is allowed, otherwise it will be an issue.
-
1. 100% YES!! An 8 team playoff would fix a majority of the problems as every team would have a realistic chance to make the playoffs. As such they will be on top of their rosters.
2. I'm okay with whatever you guys decide, but think it might work best if it is maxed out up front. Meaning "80 moves for the year" as opposed to "3 moves per week." We have all have a multitude of injuries in a short period which can make the 3 moves in a week problematic. We have also all been in situations where we didn't have any injuries for 3 consecutive weeks. '
3. I'm confident Rule #1 will fix the true need for this, but I think friendly reminders prior to penalties is the better way to go. Teams that aren't making moves are generally toward the bottom. Do you really want to cripple those teams more? If someone doesn't correct the lineup after friendly reminders then I am fine with automatic drops.
In fairness to some, I don't think everyone is great with emails. Perhaps collecting phone #s and texting those that need reminders would be great. It would also be nice to utilize text reminders when we are drafting as those 24-36 hour delays can get a bit old.
As for BR's suggestion on the playoffs, I would offer:
1. If we are going to 8 teams I think we go 1v8, 2v7, 3v6 and 4v5. The incentive to play to get the #1 seed is because that means you have put together the best team and you don't have to play the teams that were in the running for the top spot. Of course we know that being the best team doesn't necessarily mean winning in the playoffs. 2. No objection to a longer championship series, though no objection to having a 1 week series either. 3. No objection to that.
-
Thanks for the congrats, everyone. It really helps when you end up with the three best hitters (and a fourth guy) from the best hitting team in recent memory.
Logistically, I think starting a new league to run the top 8/bottom 8 playoff system could make sense. I haven't looked too much into it...but it appears that Fantrax playoffs are easier to run and are more customizable with a head-to-head league setup. So there may be a lot less manual work if the playoffs are run in a different "league."
Some other considerations for the playoffs I'd still like to see: (1) the top couple of teams get a bye at least for the first round so that there is still a reason to play for being the best team; (2) the championship round lasts 10-14 days to reduce the chance that one team gets a big advantage just on the number of starts they get from their pitchers that week; and (3) the playoffs should end on the last Wednesday of the season if possible--that avoids the short schedule on Thursday and all the shutdowns/skipped starts in the last weekend of the season.
I like limiting moves by week. The only problem I see is that it could really hurt a team if they are just hit with a lot of injuries at once. I don't know how to fix that...it would be nice if each week, we had a window where owners could make any remaining injury replacements without penalty. That way, if you have 5 injuries in a week, you aren't already 2 moves in the hole before games even start on Monday.
-
We have 4 divisions with 4 teams per. If you appointed one owner in each group to check his division once or twice a week, it would help. Inflict real penalties. "Hey, I told Jimmy twice that Smith was no longer on the IL and he hasn't done anything." Good. Jimmy loses two spots in the next draft and he will continue to move back for every infraction. Tanking will be harder.
I have 3 people including myself, so we'd only need 1 more. The draft pick penalty would be pretty easy to enforce, since I can edit the draft order on fantrax.
If we stay with Fantrax, I think that we have to have limitless exchanges so that every IL move doesn't count against us. As much as it's a pain, maybe somebody will have to keep track of actual waiver wire transactions as opposed to IL transactions.
Fantrax is able to track and limit total moves, free agent adds, waiver wire. It can limit them the whole season or weekly. The problem is there isn't a way to subtract IL moves or demotion adds from the FA pool from the limit. Towards the end of the season, it becomes an almost daily need to update the transaction limits or a lot sooner depending on how quickly JR burns through them. If someone is willing do that then we can definitely leave the cap in place as it is. Limiting the moves to weekly would eliminate that, but still keep the caps in place. The only other way to limit moves would be but in caps on games played, innings pitched and uncap the moves entirely.
As far as the playoff idea is concerned, since Fantrax is free, why not start a second league in September with the playoff teams and allow the original 16 finish their regular season?
The playoff teams would basically be running 2 teams and the player pools available would be different. It wouldn't be impossible, but it would add an extra layer. I'm not as familiar with how the playoff systems work but I know last year we discussed a top 8 and bottom 8 playoff with the bottom teams playing for the first pick.

You are misrepresenting my earlier post. I am not suggesting we go back to a Circle with no one able to make their own moves. I was pointing out that's why we have never had this kind of issue before. The league still needs to be honor-bound and have integrity. All these suggested solutions are obscuring the original issue.
I agree that we need to be responsible for our teams. I think transactions can be handled in a better manner to make it easier for everyone.
-
I still think making it easier to stash minor leaguers hurts the league overall. Lawler and Mauricio won’t close the gap. Letting me stick Wicks in the minors and not worry about a starting pitcher earlier on will help me a lot more.
I think everyone agrees changes need to made. Playoffs seem like a really good idea. Coming up with a way to discourage tanking would be smart. I’d like to come up with a way make transactions easier on the owners and myself. We can’t go back to a small group making every move. I don’t have that much time and no one else was willing to put in the time to do it either. Things can be done to improve the league.
How about a 6 man bench (to plug and play for injured players) and unlimited roster moves that process every M-W-F (to keep the 24/7 fantasy baseball guys from scooping every player).
Bench players would have to include a SP, RP, CI, MI, C and OF to account for possible injuries.
Waiver process remains the same except the bottom 8 teams rotate the next waiver claim (so tanking isn’t done for waiver claims).

The only reason to leave Judge inactive is to increase the chances of getting the top overall pick in the lottery. So I think this issue would take care of itself if that wasn't dictated entirely by scoring the fewest points. Maybe we could require a minimum number of games played and innings pitched to qualify for the lottery? That would discourage keeping part time players in roster spots for extended periods.
Or because the league doesn't reward teams for being competitive by having playoffs. The Cubs aren't very good right now, but if they can squeeze their way into the playoffs anything can happen. If we have 8-10 teams making the playoffs it will solve the problem as everyone will be in the mix for a playoff spot for a good majority of the year.
If a manager loses interest because his team isn't competitive, they very well may forget to check their roster. Once the trade deadline was reached I pretty much forgot to check my roster as I couldn't make trades and my team was out of contention. It isn't a great deal of fun.
I started trading off solid pieces after 2 months because I knew I couldn't win with my roster as is. I figured I would try to build for next year by stockpiling higher picks. If we had a playoff system I would have gone the other way and tried accumulating talent to make sure I was in the top 8 (or 10 or 12) for a playoff spot.
I know the league has been around a lot longer than me, but sometimes changes need to be made to improve the league. MLB added a pitch clock, bigger bases, instant replay and a DH in the NL among significant changes. I think we can do the same.
One of the things I pushed for was upping the number of ABs or IP before a player has to be projected. Ronny Mauricio and POSSIBLY Jordan Lawlar got September callups and will get to 50 ABs. If I am stuck protecting both of them (or cutting them loose) it is ridiculous. I have tried to build a solid base and being able to keep them as MiLB guys would go a long way. Alas I don't think the vote was even close last year when it was discussed.
Yes I know that I changed the subject at the end, but venting after a long season.
-
I have never blown up at people about fixing rosters. I’m sorry that I blew up at you, people just need to be patient with requests and I’m allowed to have a bad day.

Dev’s roster is illegal too. He has Garcia in the minors and he should be on the active roster.
Garcia was activate last night after I logged off...and he was in the minors because it was the only way I could replace him when games started on the day he went on the il. i would have asked to have you fix it, but i am keeping my communication with you to a minimum since you blew up at me in april...i figure it best to stay out of your way since you are so sensitive.

Years ago when the league started, every move had to go through Bill Johnson, the commissioner. It was tedious and exhausting, especially with 20 teams. Dave started helping out. When WJ "retired," Dave took over and I helped him out by making moves when he was swamped. When Dave stepped down, he stayed on to help me and I expanded the group later to the Circle, guys like Boris, 82, Chiman, ISF, mO, and others to whom I entrusted Commissioner powers. Nobody really enjoyed, making moves and hoping somebody had time to make it for them. Ironically that system helped prevent this kind of issue, however, because no way would it go 6 weeks with a player like Judge not being activated. Somebody would have noticed it. We all love to make our own moves, but sometimes we pay for it when we get it.
-
Hey totally get that! Maybe just make it up to other owners in the league to point it out if they see it? Just a thought.
The league should be fun, not where we are tattling on each other. I like to make a way where it decreases the burden on the commissioners and makes it more user freiendly that discourages outright tanking.
-
Curt email.
-
Discussing future rule changes or configuring CBS or Fantrax is fine, but I'm struggling with how how we allow a blatant disregard of an obvious foul to the integrity of the league. Bottom line is how do you justify allowing somehow who has disregarded his team and not activated his number one pick in six weeks to pick up a top prospect? That stinks. This is not a Matt issue, this is a basic fairness issue. Sorry, JMO.
-
Who is going to check every roster, everyday and keep track of how long somebody is on the minors? I have a job and a family and I don’t have unlimited hours to spend policing everything.
Hey totally get that! Maybe just make it up to other owners in the league to point it out if they see it? Just a thought.
-
Is there a way to configure Fantrax to deem a roster illegal if healthy players are on the DL?
The most simple fix is to make a rule stating that no waiver moves can be made while a roster is illegal. Even Yahoo is capable of that config change…
-
Players who shouldn’t be in the minors or on the IL after three weeks go on waivers. Problem solved.

I’m going to allow it.
Dev’s roster is illegal too. He has Garcia in the minors and he should be on the active roster.
The transactions are the biggest pain about the league. Would people be interested in having a bench with no daily moves with bidding once a week on moves. The bench would include the 5 minor leaguers and that would still be a hard limit. To prevent daily roster moves roster lock on a given day of the week and only IL/demotions can be replaced?
-
I'm in favor of a playoff. I like Matt. In spite of all that we need a commissioner ruling on inappropriate addition to an illegal roster.
-

Can I activate Aaron Judge? 😇

Implementing FAAB would be great, but it would be a nightmare with daily transactions
-
I think we really need a playoffs.
I think the transactions need some sort of updating. While this is supposed to be limited moves, with the IL and minors they're are a lot of transactions that happen. Trying to keep every teams waivers UTD is not fun. It takes a lot of time. When we did moves through Boris waiver claims would take a lot of time.
A bidding system would be kinda fun for waiver claims, the problem would be how add/drops are handled. Would we make those unlimited or are we still keeping the transaction to 15. Proposing more and more rules is ok, but who is going to step up and help me?
-
I've tried to help Matt with some things this year, Todd. I understand he's busy with school, which should be his first priority or he'll end up with being nothing but a lawyer like his old man. Our serious point is this: dev got cheated out of acquiring a good player by an owner barely keeping up with his team. That's not right. Actually, if he doesn't want to activate Judge, that's not fair for next year's draft, but at least it doesn't hurt anyone immediately.
-
You guys make great points! Fair and valid across the board.
I am guilty of not looking at my team for a bit as my team was going nowhere quickly and the league doesn't reward anyone for being pretty good. If there was a playoff system my strategy would have been far different, but there isn't so it is hard to not sell off parts to plan for next season.
Matt is a freshman in college. He has a lot of other stuff going on besides fantasy baseball (unlike us old guys). He has been acclimating to school, working almost a full time job, studying for classes, attending classes and maybe having an occasional beer. He had time to consider a prospect and certainly had time to look at his lineup but didn't do so as his team is firmly in the basement.
I will flip my roster around to make it legal and advise Matt to do the same.
While not attempting to justify, I would bet a lot of money that a playoff system that including 8 of 16 teams would change the strategy of a lot of owners.
-
I mean, how do you not prioritize getting Aaron motherfucking Judge back in your lineup the day he’s activated?
-
It's true that this rule has not been strictly enforced, mainly because when noticed and mentioned, owners normally correct the error. It normally happened in the second half of the season when owners had lost interest and weren't checking their teams regularly. It was rarely, if ever, deliberate. Our league has survived for 20 years on an honor system, because policing was not only difficult but unappreciated among friends. Perhaps we have to buy extra Fantrax product to correct this. But I agree with Dave, this is unacceptable. br, the difference here is that the owner was paying enough attention to claim a good prospect, but continued to ignore his illegal roster? Bullshirt.
-
That team has Judge on the IL and Herrera on the active roster.
Judge has been activated and Herrera has been at AAA since late July.
That’s unacceptable.
-
I'm not in favor of enforcing that rule in this specific case because multiple teams regularly fail to follow that rule. And I haven't seen it strictly enforced at any point in the 5 years I've been in the league.
But I think it would be good if we could come up with some kind of system for dealing with that rule going into next year. I'd like to see us go into the season with the intention that it's going to be enforced.
-
x, Owners have 7 days to move players who have been sent to minors or the DL by MLB or the players will be dumped into the pool. Players who have been brought up from the minors or are off the DL will also be dumped in the pool after 7 days. Day 1 is the first day that CBS alerts the owner that a change has taken place. Day 7 deadline is midnight Central time. The same 48 hour window for others to pick up a dumped player applies. Owners may reclaim their players during that 48 hour window at a cost of a waiver. The 48 hour window starts from when the player is sent to the pool. Adopted January 2018
-
Kind of related...I've wondered if maybe we could consider getting rid of the rotating waiver claim system all together and instead use some kind of a bidding system instead. I think Fantrax allows you to set a year-long budget for each team for making waiver claims.
If you use a bidding system, every team could be in the running for any player who is called up. But if you use too much of your budget too soon, you're out of the running at this part of the year when teams start making their September call-ups. I think it would add some strategy to a part of the BBFL that is currently almost completely luck.

Me too.

It was year 2 when I joined
-
You, dev, and ISF the only ones left, Dave? Chiman, JR?
-
Dev is a day one owner…not many of us left…
-
I want to give a shout out to Dev. Dev has been a member of this league from way back and, I thought, had built a very good team, but things went south this year, yet, like every year, he has devoted time and energy to keep his team up to date and scrapping. Way to go, Dev. We need more owners like you.
-
Julio Urias to the sh*t list - add Luis Severino
-
I'd love to have an answer to Franco's situation by the next draft. I doubt I'm that lucky though.

He can join Franco on the IL. I guess my team was the not great people team.
Maybe we can make Franco, Urias, and Bauer a package pick next spring.

Yes. I have chosen.....poorly. Can I put him on the IL or the minors or the MF list?

So much for that Urias waiver claim…

Yes, and yes…get the ribs…closed Sundays and Mondays…
-
Dave, is the Rendezvous still open? Is it still good? I have friends visiting Memphis. They've found Corkeys.
-
LOL, I’m just giving Curt a hard time, letting him know that Urias wouldn’t have made it to him anyway…
-
Not the point. We have people making changes and picking up waiver claims without posting here. I'm sure I've failed at some point, many of us have, but without consequences, keeping track becomes futile.
-
Pepiot to the minors, dropping Bauman, picking up Clevenger to replace. Still watching for Julio Urias to be posted here.
Watching for Urias as well…
So much drama over a starter with a mid 4 ERA who is a free agent a the end of the year. You both could have had him for latemround draft pick.

Has that Austrian bully who steals waiver claims from old senile men ever posted that he stole Urias. Just Wondering. Should be a rule that if you don't post it, you lose it. Just sayin.
-
Unless there are objections I think we go with them being claimed they stay with there current team.
-
Hey Dev I had a lot going on at home. Did you want to do your move before or after the Red Sox game started? I had trouble following email thread.
I made a claim on a Red Sox prospect and dropped Alex Thomas.
dont worry about it
-
They really weren't ever DFA'ed, just placed on outright waivers.
-
It has always been about the ability to sign with someone else.
In this situation, when they are claimed, the move is instant, and they are never truly FAs…
-
Yeah, this situation wouldn’t have happened when there was still a waiver trade process.
If this is going to become a regular thing teams do at the end of August, we probably need to address it in the rules. None of these players (except for maybe Giolito) can be replaced pretty easily. But if the Padres or Phillies were out of it and decided to save money by waiving Nola or Hader, those could have a big impact on the league.
-
DFA'd players have been handled previously like this
Trade: You keep them
Claimed: You lose them
Waivers: You lose them
Pulled back: You keep them
I don't think something like this has really happened in the past though.
-
My opinion…if they are claimed, and go immediately to their new team, you keep them.
If they go unclaimed, and are subsequently released, they are FAs, free to sign with anyone. You drop them.
If they go unclaimed, and are retained by their original team, you keep them.
-
Just want to clarify again...what happens to the players on waivers who get claimed today? Curt answered a couple days ago when I asked, but I think at that point we thought the players would be DFA'd on Tuesday which is normally when players have to be dropped. But they are all still on their teams' active rosters and they'll immediately go to their new teams once claimed, so it's almost more like a trade than a typical waivers/DFA situation.
Just wondering if I need to drop and replace Moore whenever the move goes through this afternoon.
-
Saul's brother
Funny, I had a claim on Urius. I wonder what happened to him.

I feel like half of my team deserves to be waived.
-
I feel sorry for JR, almost his whole team was waived today.
-
My Fantrax seems to be down
ASSUMING all the guys do not remain in the Angel system. They become free agents if they go to a new team, but I don't think you can claim until they are on their new team.
-
How do the DFAs of Giolito, Moore, and Renfroe work in this league? Are those players automatically free agents immediately? Or does the team that has them rostered have the option of keeping them if/when they get claimed? If the team that has them rostered wants to replace them now before they officially become free agents/get claimed, can they do that without using a waiver?
I can't remember many players getting DFA'd who were both worth rostering in this league and likely to get claimed in real life, so I'm not clear on what the rules are here.

I was able to make this move, but I still need waivers added back.

DFAing, cutting, kicking to the curb: Drew Smyly. Picking up Chris Sale, another gam ble.
-
We are entering that part of the season where MLB teams screw us over by not IL-ing players because soon to expand rosters and season's looming end doesn't make it practical. Remember, if there is evidence that your guy is hurt and will be out for a length of time or even done for the year, you need to find definitive evidence and submit to Joe for approval before you start putting them on your IL.

Figuring out what I'm going to do with Franco.

Actually that doesn't thrill me. At least one of the players would have to be deceptively healthy and then break apart two days after the trade for me to get fired up about it.

Since it can be kind of hard to make changes to league rules in the offseason, would it be helpful to start a topic on the BBFL board to start proposing/discussing options for playoff format next year? It might be helpful to have some idea what people are thinking so we aren't starting from scratch in November.
I posted a couple thoughts in the 2023 winter meetings topic.
-
The home page for our league is still saying the trade deadline is tonight at midnight instead of Tuesday. I'll update it later tonight unless CBJ gets to it first.
-
Rodon is still available. A good prospect is all you need.

Yes. I'd also like to limit what changes we discuss to certain topics.
1) Playoffs
2) Waivers/Transaction limits
3) How pitchers are handled.
If there are any other concerns we can add it to the list and then start discussing it.

-
Also the Brats place Jake Fraley on the IL (thanks Reds for waiting until this morning to do that) and sign Brice Turang to replace.
-
I get it and it said Friday for most of the day yesterday, but while I was waiting for him to clear, the day on him somehow changed to Saturday so I quit worrying about it. Granted if I really wanted him that badly, I could have used a waiver claim and I wasn't 100% sure I wanted to cut someone for him anyway, but I don't feel like I'm imagining Fantrax changing the day on his claim to Saturday.
-
I reset all the low waiver people to 5 until I get a chance to go through and total everybody up.
-
Shirtballs are sending Joe Musgrove to the IL, picking up Steven Matz.
It's not allowing me to make the pickup because I have no waivers left, though. By my count, I should have 6 left.
-
Baty was supposed to be on waivers until Saturday. I was literally looking at that earlier tonight unless Fantrax was acting up again.
We went on waivers at 8:42 on Wed so his waiver period ended Friday at 8:42 PM.

Is it possible to…
A) reset the waiver wire order to reverse standings each week, and…
B) drastically reduce the number of waiver wire moves each team can make
If each team was limited to 3 waiver wire moves per season, it would allow lesser teams to improve, but not give them right of first refusal to every single FA worth claiming on the wire.
A) Maybe. I have an option to pick a day of the week to reset the Waiver Wire. I'd want to test it to see if that is actually what it does.
B) Transactions can be limited by total number of moves, adding free agents, waiver wire claims. Claims can also be limited by week for the same categories Where fantrax has trouble is the IL/minor moves. These are counted in the total moves by Fantrax but not the total moves in our league. The thing I would most like to change is this. Either through limits on the moves per week, moves per season or caps on games played and innings pitched. Capping the innings pitched would address the starter/reliever/opener/follower/sometimes starter or reliever issues that weren't here in the past when the league was set up.
Tracking down moves and updating transactions sucks. It is tedious and not always clear what was a claim/drop. If the waiver wire can reset itself each week with standings and we limited the number of waiver claims that would be something I'm interested in.
Capping innings pitched might be a way to just get rid of the transaction caps. It isn't like the FA pool is just flush with hitters and if we have a playoff system people that burn through there innings pitched would be SOL when the playoffs start. You could also just limit games played at each position to 162 as well or capping the moves/week.
-
Old Style releases Nate Pearson (sent to minors), moves Wesneski to RP, and activates Max Fried.

Oz Busters send Shane McClanahan to the IL and drop Dauri Moreta. Activate Robert Suarez and add Tristan Beck

DDK'd send Edward Cabrera to the minors, dropping Dane Myers to make room. Add Andrew Heaney to replace Cabrera.
-
OK, of the FOUR, which one is dead? The other owners want to know.
-
That’s three actually alive players…you know I can’t do that!
-
Trout, Bednar, Vlad and your #1 pick.
-
I offered you not one but TWO players who were verifiably alive, which I don’t do for everyone. What else are you looking for CurtOne?
-
I turned it down again. Not quite what I was looking for.
-
Curt, I took one more shot at it. I actually think both players this time are off of life support.
-
I think some owners are confused between waiver wire moves and their 15 allowed moves. I think Fantrax is too.

Rotate the bottom 4 teams in the standings for the waiver wire if the concern is that the worst team will clean up. Of course if he cleans up......he won't be the worst any longer.
I'd have to manually reset the waiver wire after every claim.
I was in the first few waiver positions for about 3 years. Being first on the list sucks, because your always worried that something else better will hit the market. I completely get frustration. I just don't have the time to reset everything after every single claim.
-
and with the already slim pickings in the league it isn't something I think we should be doing
This is another reason I think we should change at least one of the utility hitters into a utility player. Right now on the waiver wire, Brandon Marsh ranks 8th by total points...and he's the only hitter among the top 21 points scorers. I think the number of hitters and pitchers rostered is out of balance in this league, which makes it a lot harder to find a decent replacement when a hitter goes to the IL.
-
1) I'm not really sure how it can get revamped. If we don't rotate the worst team will just get every waiver claim worthwhile and it will punish the rest of the rebuilding teams, because they won't get a shot at anyone. Being at the front of the waiver wire is horrible though. Removing contending teams would be an administrative nightmare on my end.
2) This helps contending teams more than rebuilding teams. There is more value for the top teams in being able to keep somebody in the minors and getting an additional keeper. The rebuilding teams should want the younger players to move up to a keeper and clear a minor league spot. No ones 12th-15th player is going to be the difference between being a contender or rebuilding.
3.) It is going to decrease the number of players available, and with the already slim pickings in the league it isn't something I think we should be doing. Trying to manage the minor league roster spots is important and part of the strategy in this league.
Rotate the bottom 4 teams in the standings for the waiver wire if the concern is that the worst team will clean up. Of course if he cleans up......he won't be the worst any longer.

Lesser issues:
1. The Waiver system needs a revamping. Matt is in 2nd to last place. There are several players he would have picked up via waivers but he didn't as he is waiting for this year's version of Gunnar Henderson. Our waiver system should reward the teams that need the help as opposed to whoever is next up.

2. Rookies should follow the MLB rules for declaring rookies. If someone is available to be a ROY (even if he has 50+ ABs) he should be a rookie in our league. MLB uses "45 days prior to 8/1.
3. I think if a team has 5 minor leaguers and another player is sent down after an agreed upon date (maybe 6/1) to avoid teams drafting players who are likely to immediately be sent down we expand the minor league quota to allow that player to be dropped down. We can add a rule about having to spend at least 3 weeks in the MLB to qualify for that so teams don't pick up good youngsters that will likely be sent back down after a quick cup of coffee.

3.) It is going to decrease the number of players available, and with the already slim pickings in the league it isn't something I think we should be doing. Trying to manage the minor league roster spots is important and part of the strategy in this league.
-
That was a good offer. At least one of them was off life-support.
-
Curt, I left you an offer and can give you my 100% assurance the players I offered are completely totally healthy.
Lies, lies, lies
-
My #1 pick this year was Rodon who spent the first part of the year on the IL and has struggled since coming back up. I would entertain offers for him, but it would take someone as a possible keeper.
Curt, I left you an offer and can give you my 100% assurance the players I offered are completely totally healthy.
-
For me, playoffs is the big issue. Trading draft picks is difficult as most teams recognize that they aren't going to win the league at this point so it is hard to position as a "seller" at the deadline. If there were playoffs we would see significantly more movement.
3. -
Dropping Beaty, activating Seager, late because the damb Texans announced it at game time.
-
I’d like us to consider changing one (or both) of the utility hitter positions into a general utility player who can be a hitter or pitcher. More flexibility in roster construction could make it easier to build a competitive team, and having the option to carry up to 12-13 pitchers matches 2023 real life rosters better anyway.
-
Would it break league balance to change one SP slot and one RP slot to P, or something like that?
-
The Brats send Luis Garcia to the minors and (looks through MI options....proceeds to throw up) sign DJ LeMahieu to replace.
-
I don't know if we had a clear rule, Dave, but I just ignored it when a guy was clearly being used as an Opener. For the most part, I think managers are using it to force the opposing manager to think twice about loading up his batting order with righties or lefties. Frankly, if we are only asking starters to go 5 innings, five man rotations make less sense. Paying a guy to pitch five innings once a week for tons of $$$$ while relievers pitch 10 innings over the same week. If it persists, maybe teams will go back to 4 man rotations.
-
I thought we had done a rule re:openers a few years ago, or was that just something we did on a case by case basis?
I mean, what if a guy like Michael Fulmer starts every 5th day going forward as a 1 inning opener for Smyly?
Is it fair to call him a SP when he could be getting holds points in someone’s bullpen?
I don’t know the answer…just thinking out loud…
-
LOL Joe, are there settings at some of the pay options that would help with this? What are other fantasy leagues doing to combat these changes in baseball? Anyone in a CBS, ESPN, or Yahoo league?
-
That's a stickler. Almost have to appoint someone to watch appearances and establish that "Openers" do not count to be an SP. Maybe a rule like, "An SP is any pitcher that pitches 5 or more innings 3 times or more."
Insert the Vader gif screaming NOOOOOOOO.
-

-
And, just a suggestion…we probably should clarify some guidelines for this in the future, as it becomes more common…
I would love to find a way to better way deal with pitchers. How teams have been using both starters and relievers is a lot different than when the league rules were established. Pitchers, different ways to limit roster churn and a playoff system are what I would like to address in the off-season.
That said the rules are the rules. Once he has 3 starts, if he starts the game he has to a SP
-
The Brats sign Carlos Hernandez and release Yimi Garcia, so now we're down to 4 add/drops. #smurfcup
Wonderful. Means he has 4 more cripples to deal.
-
And, just a suggestion…we probably should clarify some guidelines for this in the future, as it becomes more common…
-
Granted, but if he is used as an opener he needs to be a starter.
In his last 6 outings, he was used as an opener once, and pure relief 5 times…

I reset JR to 5, I'll take a look tonight and do the waivers.
Donovan to the IL and activating Hayes. I moved Madriagal to second to second to make it legal.
Thank you sir!
-
Granted, but if he is used as an opener he needs to be a starter.
-
Appeal to move Wesneski to a RP role when Fried comes off the DL later this week…
-
Civale, Kershaw and maybe Urias are available in trade if somebody is looking for a starter.
Hader is available for a first round pick.
-
Activating Nardi and releasing Miguel Castro.

Activating and releasing Clevinger

Can't I just give him some more of my injured and crippled players instead?
No
-
Probably true. Give Joe time.
Can't I just give him some more of my injured and crippled players instead?
-
Probably true. Give Joe time.
-
Yeah I figured that. I think it's gotten a little behind, though. I think I should have 4 or 5 left.
-
I think there wasn't a setting for the dealing of injured players, so CBJ just dumped into the FA category.
-
The Brats send Marco Luciano to the minors and want to sign Dominic Canzone to replace.
However Fantrax is saying I'm over the limit for FA's this season and won't let me do it.
-
Sweet 52 for Framber tonight…
-
Hit me up for trades. Many available for draft pick upgrades
-
No point in holding the awful Scott Barlow if he's going to be behind Josh Hader the rest of the year. Shirtballs pick up Brooks Raley, drop Barlow.
-
10 days before our deadline, and Whit Merrifield can still be had if you're making a run at the top.
-
The Brats place Griffin Canning on the IL and sign Kutter Crawford to replace.
-
DDk's activate Chazz Jisholm and drop Corey Julks to make room
-
Mid season report for the Palindromes:
teams i want to lose - St L Cardinals and The Atlanta Braves (unless Strider is pitching) I don't like when Riley, Acuna, Olson, Harris II do well :)
I disagree, I'm a big fan of that part of the Braves lineup.
-
Dropping Pham for Brendan Rogers off the IL
-
Seth Lugo is available to anyone looking for a rental SP upgrade.
-
If it starts to look like Marco Luciano is going to get 50 AB this year, I'd be very open to trading him for a pick or minor leaguer for teams in rebuild mode.
By the way, thanks Giants for just about completely messing that guy up this year. I'm so tired of three true outcomes BS approaches at the plate, and there was just no good reason to bring him up this year.
-
DDKs send Dane Myers to the minors, add Luis Rengifo to replace
-
Corn Mashers IL India, pick up Adam Frazier.
-
Shirtballs send Ward and Eovaldi to the IL, pick up Grichuk and Jon Gray.

Mid season report for the Palindromes :
best Palindrome keeper(s) - Spencer Strider and Felix Bautista have been top notch
worst Palindrome keeper (s) - Jeff McNeil and Shea Langliers have been disappointing
biggest keeper regret - was tossing up between Freddy Peralta and Joe Ryan to keep, kept Peralta (hasn't been too bad lately)
best draft pick - probably Evan Phillips round 5 or 6, L Gurriel Jr a round later was ok too
worst draft pick - Daniel Bard round 2, was going him or Sewald. I chose poorly. Could have been Jose Abreu but he has been a lot better recently
best trade request - someone offered A Chapman for draft upgrade, T Pham for draft upgrade they were ok but not needed on my behalf (maybe i should have got rid of D Bard ;( in hindsight)
worst trade requests - got offered a starting pitcher for Felix Bautista and a third basemen for Devin Williams.
best waiver acquisition - Andrew Abbott has been lights out good so far.
best minors pick up - only got Druw Jones he has been injured most of the year and is batting about 7 for 50 with not many extra bases
teams i want to win - Chicago Cubs and KC Royals (Witt Jr and Salvy P)
teams i want to lose - St L Cardinals and The Atlanta Braves (unless Strider is pitching) I don't like when Riley, Acuna, Olson, Harris II do well :)
Since it was your best trade request......A. Chapman is still available for a draft upgrade. Feel free to reach out. That goes for all owners!

Also the Brats place Jordan Romano on the IL and sign Yimi Garcia to replace.
-
Contenders, Whit Merrifield has been the 4th best scoring MI in the league the last 30 days with a .354/.384/.608 slash line and is a Top 10 2B this season. He can be had for an upper middle round pick upgrade and/or a quality minor leaguer.
-
is "Bad" Fruedian?
With all the IL’s I feel like I’m playing my JV squad.
-
Logray's Bad accepts Snotosed Brats trade and soon to be injured for season Seiya Suzuki and a 11 th round pick for a 10th round pick. JR to confirm. To make my roster legal Turang was dropped.
Brats confirm and promote Marco Luciano from the minors.

Shirtballs activate Jose Altuve, drop Adam Frazier.
I was able to get Altuve activated for today's game, but it looks like the Frazier drop won't technically be executed until tomorrow even though I've submitted it through Fantrax. I temporarily put Frazier in my minor leagues so he doesn't accrue points today and my roster stays legal.
-
I could be letting Seiya Suzuki go in the next 7 days, thanks to the Giants rushing Marco Luciano to the majors, if anyone is interested.
-
Activate Tyler Soderstrom drop UT Joey Votto
-
Oz Busters reinstate Merrill Kelly from the IL. Drop Andrew Heaney.
-
Surely you aren’t referring to the owner who traded me Prince Fielder for Mike Trout, are you?
I wish I knew who that owner was because that's someone who definitely never deserves to play in a fantasy baseball league ever again. :o
-
The Brats sign Ranger Suárez and release Jon Gray. #smurfcup
-
DDK's place Byron Buxton on the paternity list, add Jose Siri to replace
-
A Prince for a Fish. Sounds like a fairy tale.
-
Surely you aren’t referring to the owner who traded me Prince Fielder for Mike Trout, are you?
-
Yeah only a really unscrupulous bratty owner would ever contemplate peddling players like that. :)
-
br, I was going to trade you Seager, but he's hurt, and unlike some people I won't peddle broken merchandise.
I will gladly take on that kind of broken merchandise. Just don't try to sell me Tommy Pham or Brendan Rodgers, I can't imagine an owner who would try do something like that.
-
br, I was going to trade you Seager, but he's hurt, and unlike some people I won't peddle broken merchandise.
-
br, I just sent you a couple of trade proposals on Fantrax.
-
If anyone has a closer who is a free agent after this year (even if his job is shared or his hold on it is a little shaky) and wants to take a chance on a guy who might still be a closer next year, I'd trade Scott Barlow for him.
-
Kris Bryant and Aroldis Chapman for draft compensation are also available
-
Corn Mashers activate Dansby Swanson, release Matt Vierling.
-
Charlie Blackmon will be back from the IL next week. Was having a nice year averaging 3.55 PPG. Available for a draft upgrade.
-
Oz Busters - Darick Hall has been sent to the minors so am dropping him and picking up Kerry Carpenter
-
Seager to the IL, picking up Trent Grisham. Moving a bunch of guys around to be legal if anyone cares.
-
The Mets/Red Sox game was suspended last night, and they're finishing it right now. Does that mean the rosters for those teams have locked, or do they not lock until the regularly scheduled game starts? It looks like Fantrax still allows moves for those players.
Since Fantrax allows this move and treats a suspended game like it's still yesterday's game, I'm going to go on and activate Brandon Pfaadt ahead of his 4:00 ET game and drop Kutter Crawford. But if it's not allowed and rosters do lock when a suspended game resumes, please reverse this move.

Just wondering...does anyone have an extra infielder (preferably with SS eligibility) you'd trade for Bryan De La Cruz or Taylor Ward? Neither player is a star, but both are good contributors (currently the 127th and 134th ranked players/30th and 33rd ranked outfielders in total points, which probably makes them keeper-worthy after the season depending on roster needs).
I currently have six outfielders and would like to turn one of them into an infielder. So if you have someone you'd offer who is ranked in a similar range and/or averages about 3 points a game like these two, let me know.
-
Shirtballs pick up Kutter Crawford, drop Domingo German.
-
Completely heartless. Sorry about that. :(
-
So, you trade me a cripple for Wilson, then you toss him to the curb. You heartless jackass.
-
The Brats sign Kevin Ginkel and release Steven Wilson. #smurfcup
-
Kelenic to th the Idiot List. Davis from UT to OF, and picking up Andrew Monasterio.
-
Rule change for next year...suggestion. Anyone who trades with JR gets a compensation pick between the 7th and 8th rounds.
-
LOL. Further evidence that you're clairvoyant. No biggie. I took Pham because he was a discard like Cooper whenever somebody came up or was activated.
-
Seriously if the injury turns into something serious and you want to undo it, I'd be fine with it. This is getting kind of ridiculous with me. ::)
-
Well Curt, you knew it was gonna happen...
Tommy Pham left Thursday’s game against the White Sox after three innings due to an apparent injury.
While the exact injury is unknown at this time, Pham appeared to be moving a bit slowly after grounding into a double play to end the third inning. He was replaced in the lineup by Luis Guillorme with Jeff McNeil moving to the outfield. With Starling Marte landing on the injured list prior to the start of the game, the Mets can’t afford to lose another outfielder to injury.
-
Brats confirm and activate Luis Campusano from the IL to fill Pham's spot.
-
Accept trade from Snots. Pham, Hoffman for Wilson. Dropping Cooper to open spot for Pham. Planning to move Pham and Hoffman to IL as soon as little red flag shows up. JR to confirm.
-
LeMahieu for a very modest draft upgrade. Send me an email or message.
-
Old Style moves Ryan Noda to the DL, signs Chas McCormick.
-
Matt, sent you an email.
-
Tommy Pham has been the #22 performing OF in the league over the last 60 days, and I'll likely be cutting him by tomorrow. I'd either accept a 10th round for Curt's original 11th round or a straight up 10th for 10th swap if you're likely to finish behind me in the standings. I'd also accept an RP upgrade over Jeff Hoffman, a minor leaguer who has some hope, DL stash, or anything else that might be of value.
All in all, here's a good opportunity to upgrade somebody's roster on the very cheap. The #22 overall performing outfielder should be an upgrade somewhere on any team's roster.
-

Somebody fixed it :)
Rosters are still locking at the first game.
-
I see Lorenzen on your roster.
-

Move made but Lorenzen not showing up.
Game doesn't start until 8:10 pm.
Can someone take a look?
-
Divers IL Minter, pick up C Martin, activate Allen, drop R Hill
-
Logray's Bag is picking up Abner Uribe and dropping Jake Bird.
I'm also requesting Uribe be listed as a RP. He has pitched in 2 games so far and they have both been in relief.
"Uribe has quickly ascended through the Brewers' farm system this season, posting a 1.96 ERA and 1.13 WHIP while striking out 41 batters through 23 frames between Double-A Biloxi and Triple-A Nashville. The 23-year-old righty can touch 103 mph with his fastball, and he could be in the mix for high-leverage outings down the line if his incredible strikeout rate translates into the bigs. Tyson Miller was designated for assignment in a corresponding move."
-
br, mail.
-
Scott Barlow is the Royals closer and he still has another year until free agency, but I'm probably going to drop him soon. If anyone wants him, make me a draft pick offer.
Domingo German threw a perfect game few weeks ago, so I don't want to just drop him. But I'm probably dropping him before his next start. He's also available for a modest draft pick upgrade.
-
rodriguez up from minors, glass onions drop sanchez
-
DDKs activate Edward Cabrera from the IL, drop Lucas Sims
-
Well played!

I only picked up Gelof because he told me he doesn't like Mondays
-
Oz Busters totally forgot to activate McClanahan from the IL today before his start. Will do it now and drop Reese Olson.
That's what happens when you let Boris distract you. We've been trying to dump that jerk for years.

Ryno’s IL SP Shane Bieber and RP Josh Sborz pick up Graham Ashcroft and Colin Poche
-

Thought it was something like that. Gives us time to respond to whatever the MLB clubs do. Thanks, br.

Hornets release Grove and bring Bryce Miller off the IL
-
Bachmann to the IL, Wilson off the IL for the Hornets.
-
Rendon to the IL and picking up Salano to replace.

Michael Koepech was just activivated, so I'm undoing the Ascharft pickup and activating Keopech and dropping Crawford
-
Dropping Kutter Crawford and picking up Graham Ashcraft
-
Well he is closing for MLB's real life equivalent of the Red Hornets, so there's that.
-
Useless player for a useless owner. Fitting.
-
The Brats place Nick Anderson on the IL and sign Trevor May (aka the most useless full time closer in the history of the BBFL) to replace.
-
I know someone must be a hitter or 2 away from competing. LeMahieu, Suwinski, Bryant, France, Blackmon (coming off the IL soon). Aroldis Chapman for those in need of RP help.
Looking for draft flips only.
-
baurs to il glass onions activate mountcastle....barlow to minors, no room, release, pick up morgan
-
Really wonder where that was, took it out.
-
Shirtballls activate Springer from paternity leave, drop Votto.
-
Wrong topic, cbj
-
I'm not ready yet, but it would seem that trading Ohtani may be in the best interest of the Red Hornets by the end of the month. Those interested may begin putting your offers together. If you need that dynamite guy who could push you to the top or just want to take a chance he re-signs with the Angels or the team he's traded to, that's fine. Just remember I may finally choose to take the same chance myself, so any offers can't be too lame. You don't need to send me offers now, but just be prepared when I say I'm open for business.

All 3 starting OFers for the AL are former Old Style players that I either released or left unprotected. Maybe I’m not very good at this?
Congrats to Randy Arozarena (released in midseason roster crunch), Austin Hays (left unprotected), and Adolis Garcia (left unprotected just this past offseason)…

Shirtballs send Altuve to the IL, pick up Adam Frazier.
Frazier did end up getting into the lineup and he has 3 hits, so I'll need this backdated to include today's game.
-
CBJ, I just sent another dart throw your way.
-
Todd, I've sent several emails: no response.
Very odd. I know I responded to one of them. Please re-send.
-
Shirtballs send Altuve to the IL, pick up Adam Frazier.
This didn't process for today even though neither team's game has started. Frazier isn't in the lineup tonight, so it probably doesn't matter. But we'll need to backdate if he gets in the game tonight.
-
Shirtballs send Altuve to the IL, pick up Adam Frazier.
-
JR, please pick up Michael Fullner, so he gets hurt.

LeMahieu and Blackmon are both available for modest draft upgrades. Bryant for a bigger draft upgrade. Chapman available as well. Will close for the Rangers when they start winning games again. He has allowed 1 run since 6/1 and has averaged over 2 Ks per inning in that same time frame.

The Indians have moved Karinchak to the minors so the Oz Busters will do the same. Pick up Taylor Rogers to replace.
-
Dropping Civale in order to activate Cobb from IL
-
Brito to the minors glass onions claim manning...and I have not won a waiver wire pick yet this year and I see I dropped from the last time I checked...
You had 2 claims that showed as a waiver wire and I'm not sure why they did. Waiver wire adjusted with a photo back up in case it goes boom again.
-
Hayes to the IL and picking up Madrigal, because I like pain.
-
Dropping Hicks, Bryan Reynolds off the IL
-
Does this go by age? If so, I should be un top 3
-
Releasing Julien to make room for players from Boris trade.
-
Just in case anyone is interested after the perfect game, German is available. I'd package him with Barlow for a better closer, or I'd consider a draft pick or minor leaguer.
-
DDK's activate and drop Maeda. Trade with Red Hornets, Baty and Bellinger for McCarthy and Pepiot executed. Activate Chazz Jizzum and place him at MI, move Royce Lewis to 3B.
Confirm

I was really looking to drop Domingo German before tonight's game after he gave up 17 runs in his last two starts. But every SP on the waiver wire was either bad or had a terrible match-up this week. So I got really lucky.
-
I was about to ask about that. It shows me at 5th ahead of Dojo at 7th, but I think I'm supposed to be in the 8-10 range.
I have a suggestion...it would be helpful if someone could copy and paste the updated waiver order to the board after each successful claim so we always have a record of the current waiver order. Maybe whoever wins the claim can just copy and paste the new waiver order from Fantrax when they announce the claim to the board.
Waiver wire only resets with waiver wire claims. When I re-did it I messed my position. I should have just take a picture with my phone before I messed with it.

I also had a claim on Westburg and the waiver order has me at No.2. Is this totally out of whack hence the confusion???
-
I remember my claim now. Yeah.
-
Oh, it makes a difference. He must be hurt if you claimed him. Dodged a bullet. Whew.
I haven't made a claim. So you are behind me. I'm 6, Tico is 7.
-
Not that it likely makes a difference, but I also has a claim on Westburg.
Oh, it makes a difference. He must be hurt if you claimed him. Dodged a bullet. Whew.
-
Not that it likely makes a difference, but I also has a claim on Westburg.

Curt you where behind both of us.
I doubt that. I can believe I was behind Dojo, but not you.
Would we have to spend money to get a system where the waiver wire only moves when a waiver claim is made and not just any guy out of the pool?
-
trying to activatre hamilton and drop abreu, but fantrax will not remove Abreu from my roster...

And the waiver wire list is jacked up.

I guess I'm fixing that tonight witht the claims. Does any one have any pending waiver claims that will hit tonight.
-
Curt you where behind both of us.
-
Boris, trade at Fantrax
-
Dojo or me? I had a claim on Westburg.
-
Dojo screwed up his claim on Westburg.
If you are making claims on a player and need to make a position switch it will invalidate your claim. You need to either make the position changes first or redo the claim after a position change for the player getting dropped. Waiver wire reset and McKinstry was re-added to my roster.
-

-
That’s not being a friend, CurtOne, when you know perfectly well I’d be willing to let go of my 8th rounder to solve this issue.
-
If Betts is that much of a problem, let me give you a 9th rounder for him and resolve the issue. What are friends for?
-
Working on roster stuff, can I get 2B and MI eligibility for Betts, pls? Currently shows as having 2B elig, but I can't place him there on my roster. He's over the threshold.
EDIT: it's working now, thanks.
-
glass onions activate and release miley, also activate mullins, release crawford
-
The Brats promote Gavin Williams from the minors and release Jameson Taillon.
-
JR, I heard you were changing your team logo to the Red Cross. Is that legal?
-
Why sadly? Is he the only one you've got that isn't injured?
Actually he has been nursing a sore shoulder recently. Just sadly because I get the feeling he's going to turn into a decent player at some point.
-
Dragons drop Zunino, pick up Bethancourt
-
The Brats somewhat sadly release Will Brennan to make room for Fraley.

-
Brats confirm and will make a move shortly to get legal.
-
Shadows cut jack flaherty and activate Graham ashcraft from IR
-
Logray’s bag is sending Fraley and Taillion to the Snotnosed Brats for Wacha. I’m sure his shoulder injury will be just fine with JR history. Promoting Thomas to replace Fraley

-
Ryno’s waive RP Brock Burke pickup RP Josh Sborz
-
We'll need a couple of ambulances and rehab centers.
-
JR, sent you a trade offer on Fantrax
-
I can do a commissioner trade if it is agreed to on the site and back date, but you have to let me know. Work is going to be kinda crazy again, so I may not be on the board as much. You can always text or email me if needed.
-
Just wondering do trades have to be processed by both teams at Fantrax for it to go through even if they’re agreed to outside of Fantrax?
-
Hey chi, it looks like you might have to accept the trade at Fantrax for it to go through.
-
OH. I see. Anybody interested in JR's first rounder. Up for trade. Let me know.
-
By the way could the trade go ahead and be processed please?
-
Well we agreed to the trade already, so I’m kind of free to do whatever I want with it at this point I’d imagine. 😃
-
If anyone has a hitter they’re willing to trade for chi’s 5th rounder, I’d be interested.
Does Chi know you're trading his picks?
-
Corn Mashers waive Louie Varland, pick up Ranger Suarez.

If anyone has a hitter they’re willing to trade for chi’s 5th rounder, I’d be interested.

I need to trade an SP in the next 7 days. Michael Wacha is the #18 SP in the league, and Kodai Senga can also be had. Open to both hitter and draft pick swaps.

Activate Omar Navaez from IL and release.
Promote Luis Matos and drop Yuli Gurriel to make room.

Sent you an email
-
Didn't know he was hurt. jk
Hey it’s actually not that he’s hurt for once. It’s more about that when I drafted him, I was gambling he’d pitch like Ohtani or Darvish, but instead he’s been more like Yusei Kukuchi.
-
Speaking of being hurt. Brendan Rodgers looks to be coming off the IL sometime in August or September. Unfortunately that's after our trade deadline. If you want to take a chance on him now, make an offer. A good RP, minor leaguer, or pick would get it done. He'd move unto your IL so no other moves would be necessary.
-
Would anyone be interested in Kodai Senga for a hitter or a pick upgrade?
Didn't know he was hurt. jk

I sent Dave an email offer and I've heard zip.

If anyone wants veterans for draft picks lmk.

Ha! Yeah tell me about it. I really hate how they handle offering draft picks on the site. Just replied by the way.
-
Responded to you here…submitting a counter proposal on Fantrax is just a trainwreck…
-
Dave, I just sent you an offer.
-
Willing to trade Brooks Lee for a draft pick swap…shoot me an offer…
-
The Brats activate Pete Fairbanks from the IL and release Joel Payamps.
-
Contreras can have a reliever status, but if he goes back to the rotation he has to move there right away.

Very odd that you were able to execute the trade before I even saw it. I need that executive power!!

Justin Turner is currently 7th in points for 3B. 9 points from being the 3rd most productive 3B in the league. He is available for draft pick compensation. If you are looking to make a run this year he can be an upgrade for most teams. Between 3B and CI he would help pretty much any team.
-
ChiTown Dojo picks up Christopher Morel.
-
Dropping Brown (A's) in order to bring Julien back up. Moving McCarthy to OF.
-
Blackmon to the DL. Pick up Sanchez
-
2 trades down. Still have more players that can help contenders. LeMahieu, Blackmon (went on 10 day DL), Justin Turner (having a nice year), Aroldis Chapman (will be closing for someone the 2nd half of the year), Kyle Freeland and Lance McCullers (awaiting some test results but mid July return expected).

Logray’s bag is sending Brady Singer and a 3rd round pick to Dojo for Kershaw, Nardi and a 10th round pick.
-
The Brats place Akil Baddoo on the IL and sign Will Brennan to replace.
-
You might be doing a bit better if you weren't playing one OF short and replaced the SP sent to the minors last week.
Once again….I appreciate the input.
-
If you are at or near the top or think you can compete this year, shoot me draft compensation offers for the following: Kershaw, McCullers (MRI Scheduled), Aroldis, Winckowski (1 round), Strzelecki (1 round), Raley (1 round), Sewald, LeMahieu, Justin Turner and Charlie Blackmon. TProjanskyLaw@aol.com

Boy, if br or I had done that trade with his players, Joe would have disowned us.
-
ChiTown Dojo trades Kershaw, Nardi and a 10th round pick to Logray’s Bag for a 3rd Round pick.
I have more players to unload so shoot me a note if interested.
-
Too late.

-
Old Style activates Jose Alvarado and releases Seranthony Dominguez.
This is assuming Alvarado is activated today, as is being reported.
-
Old Style signs Ryan Noda and releases Trey Mancini.
so that's why Mancini has started hitting
-
Morel is looking more and more like a bench player for now, so I'm going to throw his name out there one more time. I think I'm probably moving on tomorrow. If anyone wants his upside and doesn't want to use a waiver to get him in a few days, he's available for a decent draft upgrade or a player who fits my team better for competing this year.
-
cortes to IL glass onions pick up dunning

-
Old Style also sends Mike Soroka to the minors and claims Blake Snell.
-
I think I got it, can someone verify for me?
-
I think it let you do that one. Or Curt was just faster than I was.
-
Also, can someone activate Willy Adames for me, and drop Josh Rojas?
Neither of their games have started…thanks!
-
I see Puk active, but it has Smith on IR rather than dropped. When I dropped him from the IR, it said effective tomorrow.
I can drop him tomorrow morning, as long as my roster isn’t deemed illegal today.
And thanks!
-
And, Dave, if you want any of Doc's players, br and I can do that, too.
-
Check it again, AJ Puk should be active now.
-
I think I should be able to force the change with the commissioner tools.
-
When I released Drew Smith, it told me that it was effective tomorrow…
-
What’s with all these games starting before noon?
Old Style will activate AJ Puk and release Drew Smith…I guess effective tomorrow!
The league rules were updated recently so that roster spots only lock when that player's game starts. So only the A's and the Pirates should be locked right now, you should still be able to swap Puk and Smith.
-
Joe is on vacation, but I think he can reset your service time.
-
What’s with all these games starting before noon?
Old Style will activate AJ Puk and release Drew Smith…I guess effective tomorrow!
-
The new site sucks. I cringe whenever an online entity claims "we've improved our site." BS.
-
Issue: We still have people making moves and not posting them on here. Please remember to do so.
-
Activating Rendon for Logray's Bag, dropping Luke Raley.
-
Death, taxes and DDK's place Byron Buxton on the IL. Replace with Joey Weimer. Thairo Estrada returns from the IL, drop Willi Castro to make room.
-
I'm probably going to move on from Morel soon if the Cubs aren't going to play him every day. Send me an offer if you're interested. Still need a SS upgrade, but I'd also be interested in a a draft pick or maybe a closer instead.
-
If anyone’s interested in Marcus Stroman. Feel free to email me at projanskymatt@gmail.com

The Brats sign Nick Fortes and release Jose Trevino.
-
Oz Busters send Brandon Lowe to the IL and pick up Yuli Gurriel to replace at UT.

CBJ sent Curt and I a few IL activations he wants to make this week. So based on his request, Logray's Bag activates Luis Urias, drops Brian Anderson.
-
Shirtballs activiate Mitch Garver, drop Patrick Bailey.
-
He's admittedly not been good this year, but if any rebuilding team is interested in Roansy Contreras, let me know. Kicking him to the curb soon, but if someone wants to part with a low-lvl draft pick swap, happy to arrange a trade.
-
Please direct all complaints to Curt for the next week.
-
glass onions activate machado and release wisdom
-
This is assuming we aren't doing playoffs.
The playoffs will be added next year. We ran out of time in the offseason to determine the format.
-
Kershaw, McCullers (should be back in July), Aroldis, Winckowski (1 round), Strzelecki (1 round), Raley (1 round), Sewald, LeMahieu, Justin Turner and Charlie Blackmon are all available for draft pick upgrades. Some will require greater compensation than others. The RPs (besides Aroldis and Sewald) would be 1 round upgrades. The others would be more.
This is assuming we aren't doing playoffs.
-
If anyone is looking for a young catcher who has gotten off to a pretty good start in his first 50 MLB PA, I'm looking to trade Patrick Bailey. I'm just looking for a draft upgrade, or a shortstop if you have one who is available and better than Amed Rosario (not a high bar to clear).
-
Old Style activates Hayden Wesneski and releases Taijuan Walker.
-
DDK's add RP Justin Lawrence, drop Wandy Peralta

The Brats activate Ezequiel Duran and release Garrett Cooper.
-
Nootbar to IL, pick up Luke Raley
Sale to IL, pick up Mike CleVinger
-
Holy crap, you're 400 points from the top with 2/3 of the season left to go. "I'm sorry, but the judge is a brute, let's settle for the death penalty. This trial is over." "But Mr. Lawyer, this is a preliminary hearing."
I appreciate the input. If I am being objective, there are multiple teams in front of mine with better rosters. With no playoffs I have 2 choices. Play for 4th place or sell off assets to improve for next year. If I thought I had the horses to make a move I would go for it. If we had playoffs it would be a completely different story.
My team doesn't have the horses to win over a long season. My team would have a chance if we had 1-2 week playoff rounds but we don't have playoffs. I have some players that can help other teams. Moving up rounds in the draft helps my team.
I thought we voted to add playoffs, but then nothing happened. Is that still on the table? If so, my interest in moving players for draft picks will quickly disappear.
-
Casas released, Araez to 1B, Donaldson activated.
Dave, I think I had him (Garcia) at one time, too.

I’m sure everyone has at least one of these…
Looking back, I probably should have protected…Adolis Garcia

Julien back to the minors, move Ohtani back to UT, activate Civale at P

I don't think people who steal Soroka's from their friends should get any breaks.
-
Yes, but if he has already started 3 games so he would have to move back before he start another game.
Waivers have been updated.
-
Proactive question…
Assuming Steele is OK, would an appeal to put Wesneski in my bullpen be successful, with the contingency that he be moved if he gets put back in the rotation?
-
The Brats sadly place Riley Greene on the IL and sign Akil Badoo to replace.
-
I won Soroka? Sweet! I forgot all about him watching Rossy perform his voodoo.
-
If anyone has an extra shortstop they'd like to trade, the Shirtballs might be interested.
-
Earlier today, Dave was awarded Mike Soroka and dropped Cubs stalwart Jameson Taillon, yet those moves haven't been posted here. In CBJ's absence I am inclined to deny the move. I'm thinking about it.

Dropping Dunning to make room for McCarthy from the minors. Moving Ohtani to P

You're not required to tell us you're doing #2, mate.
Not required but helpful.
Appealing to the Commissioners to have Sam Bachman placed as an RP, which is what he will be used for. "Bachman started in all 23 of his minor-league appearances after being a first-round draft pick by the Angels in 2021, but he's expected to work out of the bullpen during his initial stint in the majors."
Approved but if he’s moved to starter you know the rules
-
Shirtballs send Pfaadt to the minors, pick up Domingo German (assuming that’s allowed—he’s still suspended for sticky substances until tomorrow, but he has a green plus sign on Fantrax. If that’s not allowed, I’ll pick someone else)
He has to stay on your active roster.

Yankees’ Domingo Germán ejected after substance check: ‘Stickiest hand I’ve ever felt,’ ump says
The Yankees will not be allowed to replace Germán on the roster....
https://theathletic.com/4526127/2023/05/16/yankees-domingo-german-ejected-illegal-substance/
Per the BBFL Rules, Bylaws and Other Legal Mumbo Jumbo...
F. Suspensions Suspended players are not replaceable if MLB does not allow replacement. If MLB does allow replacement, then he can be replaced in BBFL like a DL player.
-
Actually the Yankees aren't allowed to replace him which I believe is part of our suspension rules, correct?
-
Interesting. Had you waited for the suspension, this wouldn't have cost you anything. Now it's a waiver.
-
The Brats sign Michael Wacha and release Domingo "Sticky Fingers" German. #smurfcup

Mine look right

Please remember to post your moves and try and pare them on Fantrax. If you make multiple moves in a day and don't post them it will likely end up costing you a waiver if I can't figure out what is going on.

Not sure about this one - I picked up Morgan because Dodd was sent to the minors and I had no room to fit him (minors full). Does that cost me a waiver? If so, all good!
Also, thanks for all the doing in regards to rosters/waivers, you're a legend mate.
-
I had Morgan as a waiver as well.
-
DDK's add Wandy Peralta, drop Eli Morgan. This is my third unforced add/drop I believe (Ober, Dodd) 12 left?

-
Yes. I believe the suspicions will still go through. I’ll see about the paternity list. I can change it back if it doesn’t.
Curt whines about the first game, so I went digging to see if the roster lock could change.
-
I saw a couple notifications on Fantrax that league rules changed...CBJ, can you confirm these?
- Players can now only be put on the IL if they're on the MLB IL. I assume that means we'll have to post here to get suspension and paternity leave moves made?
- Roster spots now lock individually just before each player's game starts instead of having all roster spots lock before the first game of the day. I like that change a lot.
