Looks like we'll be getting an answer on Jason Grilli soon.

10:24am: It will be a two-year deal and the Giants are out, tweets Rosenthal.  Pirates GM Neal Huntington said today …

#rangers said working hard now on justin upton.

I wish this would just go and and happen.  I feel like the trade market is being held up by Upton (and players/teams that could be potentially be involved in a multi-team Upton deal).  Once that is resolved, there will be a lot of activity.

McLouth is going back to the Orioles.

Wil Nieves will be the Diamondbacks' back-up catcher.

If Grilli is close to a deal, it's not going to be with the Brewers.

Keppinger's deal with the White Sox is 3 years, about $12 million according to Rosenthal.

I don't think that would have been too bad had the Cubs done that.  Three years from now, Keppinger might still have been a useful utility player, and $4M in 2015 probably wouldn't be a horrible price to pay for that.

Of course, the Cubs probably would have needed to pay Keppinger even more than that to bring him in.

Seems to be a lot of snickering going on in Twitter land about Grilli using Gary Sheffield as his agent.

Jason Bay to the Mariners.  The Cubs were linked to him briefly earlier today.

Eric Chavez to the Diamondbacks.

There goes another 3B option.

So who is going to play 3B for us?  Is Leo Gomez doing anything nowadays?

One year, $3 million for Chavez.  I know the most likely scenario is that he spends 2/3 of the year injured...but for that price, I wish the Cubs had taken a chance.

Maybe Sveum can work on Gary Scott for a week and get him straightened out.
