In 1977 I took a trip to Phillips, Wi to hunt beer cans.  As I approached Phillips I noticed that the trees in the entire area were lierally flatttened.  I had never and have never seen anything close to that scene  I asked the area folks what had happened and they told me a wind came through the area earler, on July 4th and leveled the entire forests in the area for  about  5 by 14 miles with that area as epicenter.

At the time little  was known about downblasts of that sort.  .

The wife just bought tickets for Hippiefest 2012 concert in Daytona for my b-day. Johnny Winter, Edgar Winter, Rick Derringer, Leslie West, Kim Simonds. Gonna be a guitar extravaganza...can't wait.

Here is a true story of a motorcycle ride to Chernobyl, written by a young Russian lady who is the daughter of a Rusian scientist.
 
I first saw this story several years ago on the internet .  It so fascinated me that I searched the internet and located the story again.  I am forwarding to you in the event that some may wish o read all or parts of it.
