Our new speedy LB Bush is having me longing for Tremaine Edmunds.  I see him doing nothing, like at all.

Wearing number 12, he looks like Velus Jones attempting a blitz.  I expect he'll be better, but man the film room will be brutal for the defense overall.  Walker had bigger hits in this game.

Impressive win.  Even though the defense was weak, I saw improvement in the run D.  Our 2ndary is banged up, when we get a few players back I could see the D being average to slightly better than average.  Definitely could see them being better than last year.

Today

Dillon Thieneman, Malik Muhammad looked good.  Jordan van den Berg played and pushed the line back, but did not have any splash plays.

I think the Bears are just still finding their identity on defense.  Hate to say it but Grady Jarrett seems like he hurts the D more than he helps it.  I think it's time to let the youngsters play and live with the learning curves.

Remember last year we were picking up players in the first few weeks of the season who contributed to the team.  I think the Defense is like a stew being cooked with all the leftovers in the fridge.  Let's throw some of this, and a little of that, and more of this.  If you keep sampling it and adding to it eventually you end up with something decent.   I see that is how it will be for our defense.   Hopefully by week 4, 5 or 6 we got that figured out.

If Gordon and Woods come back soon could look a lot different sooner than later.

I did not like the Johnson call on 4th and 1 in our own side of the field.  But I get he is a risk taker sometimes he will win, sometimes he will lose.  We seem weak at center, short and important, seems like we will struggle.  You got know your team.  Let's roll Caleb out for run/pass option in those situations.  Something tells me that will be more our identity/strength.

JJ-Roush badly missed a block today.  Something tells me he will start to sit if he keeps that up.

Loveland was decoy today.  He had some really nice important blocks.  Man our WR's are really buying into blocking for the running game.  I love it.

Should be a fun season!  I will be at Lamblow field for week 5.  I got a good feeling about my first visit to the frozen tundra.

I doubt the Bears beat the Queens on Sunday.

If they push Bradbury back into Caleb's lap and the Defense plays bad, then the chances definitely fall- but I can't count this team out....

Watched the game again in full. The defense was inconsistent but sometimes looked... decent. But this is who they are- expect giving up tons of points in bunches. Thankfully the offense can score in bunches as well.....

Speaking of offense, I think a little anecdote I heard about how the locker room was post- game- celebratory but not wild as you would expect from a team that hung 59 points on another. They felt they did not play anywhere near their best game- and they sounded like they meant it.....

Well Ben and Caleb both literally said a 59-37 win is like their "worst game".  Was it tongue in cheek?  Sure.  But the good better best mentality is forged in that locker room week to week.  Let's see if the defense behind a home crowd in a divisional game can quiet the outside noise a little for one week, stick with their man in the secondary, and get home against an immobile QB.

Me personally, I want the Bears to fucking annihilate Minnesota.  But I do remember the '08 shootout and this coming Sunday could very well end up very similar...

I expect Wentz to look like the 2nd coming of Joe Montana/Dan Marino against this defense......
