Schwarber having a career year. On pace for 50 homers, 114 RBI, 114 walks, 118 runs scored. OPS at 920.

He's turned out to be an impact player.

Reds DFA'd Jeimer Candelario today. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up a Cub as soon as he's a free agent and available for the prorated league minimum.

Pretty bad last year (including D by advanced metrics). Truly awful this year, including in his rehab assignment. Worst of all has a chronic spinal issue in his back, apparently. You can make a "can't be any worse" argument for our bench, but he looks like a pass to me. If he were healthy? That might be different.

If he were healthy he wouldn't be available.  Depends on Hoyer's thoughts on Shaw, I suppose.

I think Hoyer realizes Shaw is unlikely to give him anything offensively this season. The question is whether Candelario is the direction you go hoping for better.

Parker was elected months ago by the Classic Era voting panel.

Did not know that. Not sure his numbers warrant HOF either way. But then you can say that about quite a few players.
