David Robertson signing with Phillies.  Prorate $16M contract, they'll pay $5.5 or whatever for the remaining 3rd of the season.

Trump now getting involved in MLB trade deadline—wants to move deadline back and encourages teams to make better deals.

Bessent Says Quality Of Trade Deals More Important Than Aug. 1 Deadline

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent appeared to suggest Monday that President Donald Trump’s deadline of Aug. 1 is more flexible than what the Trump administration has previously conveyed, saying the quality of the deal is a higher concern. “The important thing here is the quality of the deal, not the timing of the deals,” Bessent said. “And we are more concerned with high quality deals than getting these deals done by August 1st,” he added. “But again, we’re proceeding apace with the negotiations, but we’re not going to rush for the sake of doing deals.”

Teams love Charlie Morton — who has a very positive postseason history and who’s been solid following a slow start — and he’s drawing a lot of interest on the trade market. Many teams inquiring.

His numbers the past several weeks are very good and his velocity is pretty much right where it’s been for several years.

Well, for those who love WAR, Morton's  -.5, one of the worst marks in the game.

Heyman is a good reporter and he says there’s a lot of interest in Morton around MLB.  Don't think this would be the case of there was a perception that he’s “shot.”  Maybe he is, but clubs have been scouting him and don’t seem to share that point of view, says Heyman.

I think that with a guy with Morton’s pedigree, clubs probably don’t care much what he did in April. But if he finishes July poorly, interest will probably wane. Had a poor outing last start and IF not too good next two July outings, then more teams might agree with Chris’ opinion.

Morton will probably come quite cheap which plays into the interest, I think.

Not many starters out there.
