Why on earth would they pitch to Ohtani in that situation (or maybe any time he comes up)?

Ohtani gets the two-out bases empty intentional walk in the 11th. As well he should.

IBB with no one on base and Betts and Freeman due up - that's respect. But exactly the right thing to do, and it works.

Toronto may want to just win this in the 12th before they have to face those guys again.

Toronto has used four pinch-runners in this game. That's gotta be pretty rare.

Jays get the leadoff man on and try an unsuccessful sacrifice bunt. Jeebus wept.

Think that out call at third may be overturned.

Maybe Ohtani will be so tired from baserunning that he's ineffective pitching tomorrow?

Indeed overturned. And Clayton Kershaw, the last man Roberts wanted to use ever, gets the call with the bases loaded. You can't make this shlt up.

And Lukes swings at ball four to bail Kershaw out. Goc loves the Dodgers, there's no other explanation.

Past my bedtime, so calling it a night. Jays sure had their chances tonight.

I really hate sacrifice bunt attempts. I'd be fine with a work stoppage if we could ban those.

Wow-wa-weewa, both sides leave 'em loaded in the 13th. Harry warming up for another turn at the mic.

That was an all-time half inning for strategy moves that I hate. Sac bunt, playing the IF in, two IBBs...all moves I think are pretty unsuccessful in modern baseball.

Incidentally, Ohtani sets a new record getting on base seven times. 3 straight IBBs in front of Mookie and Frederick.

I'd have pitched to Betts rather than load the boases, but the Jays get away with it as Freeman flies to the wall in center.
