Cal Raleigh went from 60 homers, 125 RBI, and a .948 OPS to hitting .165 with a .569 OPS and 101 K's in 273 at-bats.

With Major League Baseball heading towards the trade deadline next week, teams are actually weighing more than just the needs for this season. They're also taking an impending work stoppage into account.

It could go on for longer than fans would like.

With baseball's CBA set to expire on Dec. 1, everyone around the game expects there to be a lockout in 2027. At least publicly, the owners and players are extremely far apart on key issues. The main point of contention is looking to be the owners' desire to implement a salary cap in 2027.

And while there's often posturing on both sides as a means of negotiating, some owners reportedly don't expect baseball to be played at all in 2027. That's what ESPN MLB reporter Jeff Passan said in a Monday Q&A on Threads.

Now, baseball fans have been awfully familiar with work stoppages in recent years. There was a lockout in 2022 that was resolved in March and delayed the season by a week. There was also a contentious negotiation over the pandemic-shortened season in 2020.

But a full-season lockout? That would be devastating for baseball. We'll have to see if the two sides can avoid a lost season, but the pessimism is obvious at this point.

I dont get these fringe players thinking they are indestructible...maybe I am just old...

Vitello also provided a bizarre update on Harrison Bader, who has been out since late May with plantar fasciitis in his left foot. Bader reinjured his foot in a scooter accident on Saturday night and was sent for imaging on Tuesday. The team hasn’t announced results of the testing. As Guardado and Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News point out, Bader was previously injured in what was believed to be an alcohol-related scooter accident while in his sophomore season at the University of Florida in 2014. The Gators suspended him for 19 games.

Misiorowski threw 80% strikes in 7 innings today although is on the hook for the loss due to a home run allowed and no support.

I seriously think the Dodger acquisition of Skubal means no baseball in 2027.  Our only hope is if someone dethrone them.
