Trade: Shirtballs send our 2nd rounder to the Divers for Yandy Diaz and their 5th. Tico to confirm.

Shirtballs drop Nick Gonzales, but thank him for being a more than adequate fill-in for a couple months.

I'm not opposed to trading Isaac Paredes before the deadline tomorrow if anyone needs a 3B who is keepable next year.

Strongly oppose any innings cap. Especially if it means cutting the strikeout penalty for hitters.  All it does is make mediocre hitters better while continue devalue pitchers. Why don’t we just change the whole league to be a 5x5 league wouldn’t that be OK? I think that would make sure that Tico gets what he wants in having a league that lines up to what national publications want players to be worth in roto ?

method, any scoring changes I would propose would balance the change in hitter values by increasing points per IP for pitchers, among other small changes.

goal is to improve overall balance while correcting the hitter k issue.

Heard and agreed we need to be very sensitive to hitter vs pitcher values.

Unless you really philosophically love the hitter K penalty, I think you’ll be pleased by the proposed changes.

Re: how innings cap parallels mlb, and waivers

innings cap isn’t a mirror to mlb, obviously, but we’re running a 13 team league, so the pool of available pitchers in our league is much better than mlb.

In that environment, possible for an owner to game the system by streaming starters and earn an artificially inflated number of points.

Our league protects against that by limiting waivers.

Personally, I hate the waiver limit. I think it limits activity, and therefore interest, in the league. There are plenty of transactions I’d pull the trigger on but for the waiver cost. If there were no waiver limit, I’d enjoy myself more. Maybe that’s just me.

More broadly, current waiver rules create another system to manage, and I think Curt and CBJ would both tell us the league would benefit from less bureaucracy/management requirements.

Here’s where innings cap and general P role really shine: General P role eliminates any question about openers, relievers, hybrid guys, etc. Makes the league better for owners and commissioners. Nobody has to worry about start counts or role changes.

Then implement innings cap *and* remove waiver count. Fantrax seems to do a great job of automating claims on new guys to the pool. No headache for commissioners. If we have no waiver count, that’s another process eliminated, friction removed for owners, and the cap protects against gaming the system by streaming SP.

You wanna pick up a guy? Great, pull the trigger. Long live the Smurf Cup.

More automation, less friction, system self-regulates.

Mariners finally send Colt Emerson back to AAA, so the Shirtballs demote him. Pulling back Nick Gonzales, can someone please add him to my roster?

Mariners changed their mind and put Colt Emerson on the major league IL instead of demoting him. So Shirtballs move him from the minors to the IL.
