Shaw spoke at a whatever Kirk’s wife’s rally was and allowed his picture to be used to promote it.  He’s political.

When was the last time a prominent active MLB player did something like this - Schilling 20 years ago, maybe? I mean, if it's so normal why don't a bunch of them do it?

By contrast, the one time Bregman got involved was when he criticized T for attacking Lebron James. Bregman tweeted "LeBron is an amazing role model and has helped so many people. Embarrassing that our Pres. would tweet this… I’ll go back to sticking to sports. Sorry everybody". And that was the end of it. No speaking at events, no using his name and image to promote a party. It's not a matter of political opinions, it's a matter of personal conduct.

You are incorrectly conflating two very different things. What has Shaw himself said that’s offensive toward any group or person that’s in any way in the Curt Schilling ballpark? As I understand it, when Shaw discusses publicly, he mostly talks about his personal faith in g-d.

Here are some examples of Schilling:

 In August 2015, Schilling tweeted a graphic that compared the percentage of Muslim extremists to the percentage of Nazis in Germany in the 1940s. The tweet read: "It's said only 5-10% of Muslims are extremists. In 1940, only 7% of Germans were Nazis. How'd that go?"

In November 2016, he tweeted a picture of a person at a rally wearing a shirt that read "Rope. Tree. Journalist. Some assembly required," calling it "awesome".

In March 2016, he suggested on a Kansas City radio station that Hillary Clinton "should be buried under a jail somewhere"

In January 2021, on the day of the U.S. Capitol attack, Schilling tweeted his support for the rioters, stating that people were "start[ing] a confrontation for s-h-t that matters like rights, democracy and the end of govt corruption"

Someone on Mariners' twitter floated Matt Brash and Cole Young for Shaw. That's an interesting notion.

HotStove is a fun thread during the offseason.  Heh heh, we can complain when Hoyer doesn't act fast enough, and speculate about what is he saving it for!  But now that Hoyer is finished and the offseason work is done, I'll miss the HotStove stuff!  Heh heh, Heyman and Passan will not be posting about which pitcher might sign a minor-league deal with the Cubs!  Our days in the rumor stuff is done.  It's been fun, now we'll just wait for that stuff for trade deadline. 

But yeah, at this point the roster is complete, other than perhaps the Alcantara spot.

RHP Jack Martinez, who was selected in the 8th round of last year's Draft, goes back to the Cardinals in exchange for Arenado, per source.

Cardinals are also paying $31 million of Arenado's remaining $42 million.
