....  Cubs aren't trading Hoerner without that class of overwhelming prospect coming back, that's the level it would take for Hoyer to listen.  But nobody is going to offer that for one year of Hoerner.  Conclusion:  no Hoerner trade is plausible.

Makes no sense to trade Hoerner for a prospect(s) when the WS is the priority. Prospect trade scenarios vis a vis Hoerner= waste of time.

But think that Shaw trade scenarios are different. Shaw has been bumped from a key role.  Probably unlikely to be traded but could see a move with him.

So it's Know-it-alls vs. Naysayers?

This is exactly why MLB baseball is a joke. While I hate that the Cubs don’t spend like a large market team, there is really no incentive to do so. Might as well play to win 90 and hope to get lucky  in October.

As long as the Dodgers are going to outspend everyone by $100 million or more, nobody should expect to be able to put together a comparable roster.

Good for the Dodgers. They have money, they spend it. They're not scared of the toothless luxury tax. More teams could (and should) act like them.
