I wasn't watching, more checking game day periodically.  But didn't Bryce pitch out of 1st-and-3rd one out one inning, then 3rd-no-outs the next?  Then Wicks getting out of bases-loaded no outs to save it.  Crazy. 

Maybe Wilson can be this year's Flexen. Absolutely terrible pitcher with no business being in the majors getting by on fairy dust and blind luck for several weeks before the carriage turns back into a pumpkin.

And here I thought CC was being strategic about starting the 10th with Dean as the Manfred Man…

Padres are right in the wild-card group with the Cubs.  Probably lots of adrenaline for the rival Brewers series, but Padres series almost more wildcard crucial.  Getting swept would be bad.  Winning the series would be good. 

Against the Brewers aces, the hope was to hang in through the starter innings, then beat the relievers.  Cubs didn't score until the 5th, 4th, and 7th in Brewers games. 

That's different with the Padres.  Now, the strategy is to take control early against vulnerable starters. 

Great throw by Amaya just gets Tatis at 2nd.

That was a hanger that Miller threw to Suzuki. Even the great ones can misfire. Great job by Seiya to take advantage of the mistake.

Cubs now tied with Phils for #1 WC spot.

Seiya, I thought that ball was going out.  then I thought LF had caught it.  Wow, what an ending. 

Bregman got a hit in the 9th inning, with runners on base.  Bregman actually getting a hit in a clutch situation, how helpful might that be if that happened once in a while? 

In the action, I was surprised Dansby didn't score on Bregman's hit.  I think he'd have had a much better chance to score there than on the ensuing Busch fly.  Even that, though, was probaby worth the risk.  It was a very strong and pretty accurate throw.
