Doesn't. Maton had 2 outs, nobody on, but then pitches around Benintendi and walks him easily. Gives up another hit to guy hitting .157, and gives up HR to #9 hitter.
Mighta been better to just go with Milner, and save 9.49-Maton for use-when-losing situations.
Oh well, Cubs had their chances early, and had their chance with Hoerner, but blew them.
2 outs has been tough. Runners on, they can't hit with 2 outs. Pitching, 2 outs hard time getting 3rd out.
Of the 2-out runs allowed, Rea walked one of the guys who scored; Rea hit another runner who scored; Maton of course walked the first runner who scored in the 8th.
Kind of a bummer when these finesse veteran pitchers are putting guys on base who end up scoring. Taillon kinda set up his first HR yesterday with a walk as well.
