But the Cubs add base baserunning to the cause.

Pretty soon the Padres will be in the WC and the Cubs will be on the outside looking in.  Playing sub .500 ball in September isn't going to work.

Padres have lost 7 of 9, thankfully. That spot seems secure for now.

Peterson 28 pitches in the first, walks in a run after walking another guy earlier, 2-0 Brewers mid-1st.  Tough start.

At this point Taylor should be playing every day until he proves he shouldn't be.

Alex Bregman ranks 11th among all position players in fWAR (4.3).

He's fifth in the NL (with PCA ahead of him).

I am inclined think the Bregman signing was a good thing.

3rd inning, just missed some more action.  Force on Happ, really close out.  Taylor's ball, I thought it might go out off the bat.

Cubs have walked each lower-half of the order hitters, 5-6-7-8-9.

Cubs win, Cubs win, Cubs win!  Split with the mighty Brewers, not bad.  6-up-6-down for the bullpen.  Zefferjahn throwing some strikes and getting some AB's that didn't take forever, very helpful.

Weird response to facts.

I'd wager his response would've been more along the lines of I've sucked against them.
