Well played...

Protected pick: The Bears retained the conditional 2018 seventh-round draft pick they offered the Chargers in the midseason trade for receiver Dontrelle Inman.
For the Chargers to have gotten the pick, Inman needed 25 receptions for the Bears, according to a person with knowledge of the trade. He finished with 23 in eight games after catching five passes Sunday for 94 yards.
By keeping the pick, the Bears have seven selections in next April’s draft — no third-rounder but two picks in the fourth round.
Inman crept toward triggering the condition Sunday as the Bears threw 24 times in the second half.
-
And Trubisky never moves unless its a boot leg. Nobody is open and he just stares down the receivers and throws it away or makes a pass that will never get caught. Run! Not saying he has to run downfield but move around and break down the defense.
Watch Keenum (and just about any other QB) move when there's nothing open and pressure is getting to them.
Must give Trubisky credit for not throwing any picks, but he kind of looks to mechanical to me.
I don't care about Fox, but the OC has to go.
-
Offensive line did a decent job pass blocking but their run blocking was well...offensive. But with 3 starters out and the 4th not playing his position it was expected going against the Vikings elite run defense.
Again too much pressure on Trubisky and the Trubiskettes to carry the load and they failed. Inman ignored for several weeks is now featured. The TE position is totally ignored. And Cunningham is again snake bit running in that same right corner of the end zone (at least he didn't lose the ball reaching for the pileon this time).
One play that really pi$$ed me off was the pass to the fullback. No one is going to cover him on a pass pattern and he beat his guy. But then comes a TE right behind him bringing over another defender and Burton is stopped for no gain (just like his run the previous quarter).
-
I think Pace gets to pick his own coach, not who the "consultant" suggested. Fox needed to change the atmosphere in the locker room, and get rid of the cancer. Ala Brandon Marshall, and Jay Cutler to a lesser extent. Plus we have been so devoid of talent, it is pathetic. So Fox had the deck stacked against him. It didnt help that he never had a decent OC. I just hope our next HC is either an O guru and can mentor Trubisky, or can recognize we need one, unlike Fox or Lovie....
-
I've seen articles on the net calling Pace Payton's "personal assistant". Doesn't sound very gm-ish to me. Hose out the whole barn right up to
anybody named McCaskey. If only Muggs had made it a few more years.
-
Boogie,
How far will the housecleaning go ?
Think Pace will be there ?
-
Jets lost, so the highest the #Bears could pick is 7th, with wins from SF & Denver. Right now, they are picking 9th
-
On a positive note, the Lions swept the Pack this year. The only thing better than a Bears win is a Pack loss. And I think we are at best picking 7th right now.
-
Cheer for Denver, SF, and Tampa now...
-
What were we thinking? I think we are ALL thinking Dowell Loggains was in way over his head and hopefully his car is running and warmed up when they get back to ORD. I was kind of hoping they would have punched it into the endzone with all those chances, not that I wanted a win. So we will draft between 6 and 9 I think. Top ten, lets hope Pace can do something good.
-
Goal line TD with a 5'6" RB ain't gonna cut it when we have Jordan Howard.
What were we thinking ??
-
WTF with that play calling??
-
Shurmur would be a great hire. He knows the division....plus it would hurt the Vikings
-
Yeah it was kind of like we were playing the Packers. Maybe some day the tables will be turned.....
Come up with a winning team that America loves and we will be there.
-
Yeah it was kind of like we were playing the Packers. Maybe some day the tables will be turned.....
-
So there were two PI penalties on Callahan for running into the receiver with the ball in the air, but the one where the CB runs into Bellamy... not so much
-
I cant wait for Fox to go, and all the stupid, undisciplined penalties along with him. I wasnt too hip on Shumar for HC, but seeing what he has done, with Keenum, it could be worse. And yes our entire OL needs help. Start by launching Grasu, and bring in some new talent.
-
And then it crumbles....
-
Compton, Sowell, Grasu.......
very bad.
-
And the defense followed up with a three and out....nice
-
Slick play to get Callahan running free for the return TD.
-
Vikings are miles and miles ahead of the Bears....
-
Vikings dont need any help today from the refs, but they are getting it. The contact that drew the PI on Inman was almost nonexistent.
-
Trubisky is clearly talented. They need to surround him with top quality coaches. Invest in him. The HC calling (offensive) plays, with a history of developing QBs. The OC and QB coaches to be top talent. The Rams offensive staff has thee ex QBs and they have taken a guy who last year looked like he didn’t belong in the league and turned him into an MVP candidate. A good start would be the guy from Minnie who has done so much with so little at QB.
-
The John Fox era can’t end soon enough for me. That being said, what’s your confidence level that they will hire the right people to replace the mess they have now?
-
Well, off to a great start, NOT. Spot them a TD after a stupid penalty call. If Goldman hadn’t acted guilty, it looked from the camera view like his head was up on that tackle.
-
Bears’ cars are running in the parking lot...
-
In college players play against players their own age. When they get to the pros they are playing against men much more stronger. Its just different.
-
There are a number of NFL players that missed there first two years with injuries then had healthy careers after that.
No reason not to give White a shot in camp.
-
Its not looking good for White for sure, but there is not much cost in bringing him back again for next year.
He did play in 23 games at West Virginia before getting drafted by the Bears and had 144 receptions in those 2 years. Its not like he had durability issues coming into the pros.
Not sure why Bears brought Demps back and not White. Aaron Rodgers came back in about 2 months from his shoulder injury.
-
IMHO White is a bust. Just too brittle for the NFL
-
Offensive line needs to be addressed one way or another. Receiver is another area. I would pin zero hopes on White. If we get something out of him then great..
-
Again, we arent privy to information as to the health of Sitton or Long. And I suggested a good young OT candidate to groom as a swing tackle.
-
Interesting that Leno was just brought up, Big Cat Williams was just on the Score doing an interview and discussing the offensive line.
He just said about Leno, that he is a serviceable left tackle with upside. He has good feet, and good punch, and he is young. He still has room to grow in his position, and he thought Leno was a sound player.
Unless the next Joe Thomas drops in our laps on draft day, we have plenty of other holes to fill on the roster.
-
I think Leno is serviceable but definitely could be upgraded. Massie definitely could be upgraded. Sitton is old and injuries are creeping up. Who knows if he will ever be the same again. Ditto for Long. I dont see any probowlers at any position on our OL. Maybe Whitehair IF he can get it together and not be moved around.
-
When the Bears were eliminated Sitton was the guy that drew the most interest in trade talk. He’s probably got the highest grade of any on the Oline.
Bears will have to weigh his availability, age, cost, performance against his potential replacements.
-
I think they cut sitton. He'll make 8 million and is only available about half the time. I'd be good with an OL (any postion) in the first or second and letting them compete with the incumbents. I dont think any of them are so good that you automatically assume they should have a guaranteed starting job.
-
At what position?
Leno has been solid at LT. Assuming Sitton and Long return to health in 2018 and Whitehair, who was a little inconcsistent this year returns at center, and you got Massie at RT. Eric Kush returns as well as red-shirted Jordan Morgan - both gurard types. Maybe a swing tackle could be added to replace Massie eventually.
But super stud implies drafting one with your top 10 pick.
-
What we need are some super stud OL guys to help keep Trubisky from getting touched.
-
Stelz - Go say 3 Hail Mary's, you mentioned the I word. I was just marveling with a buddy that this is the longest stretch a Bears QB has played without injury since I don't know when. He really knows how to get down when he needs to. So many times watching Cutler getting ragdolled, or falling on an interception return and breaking a finger.
We really good use a good long run of health and performance at the position.
-
I agree that he still takes too many sacks, but he seems to be improving in that area. His overall games is much improved. He’s going to be good if he has some luck with injuries.
-
Trubisky still takes too many sacks. Yeah, they are better than picks, but he still needs to develop more pocket awareness of when the rush is coming and when to bail out. He often drops back to the same spot, eyes downfield, which is good if you're not getting pressure. That wasn't the case Sunday.
It appears to me that the Bears pass plays take a long time to develop - Bears need to add more short passing. Maybe more audibles when the defender is playing 10 yards off the receiver. Bears waited way too long to throw the screen pass Sunday. Browns would play the run on first down, the Bears would run, then the Bears would pass and the Browns would blitz.
Trubisky will take a beating given the shape of our O-line, assuming Sitton and Massie are out, and our receiver quality. Loggains needs to move Trubisky around and mix it up.
-
But Garapolo got to study under Tom Brady and Belichek. Trubisky has gotten to study under Glennon and Dowel Loggains. Just saying.
-
The 9ers are on a tear since Jimmy G took over. I kind of wish we could have swung a deal for him. But Trubisky is younger.
He's also cheap for the next 4 years. 49ers are going to have to pay big money to keep Garopalo around long term starting next season.
-
One thing that scared me about Garrapolo was that he was injured in his 3rd start with New England. I questioned whether he would be fragile, and he has shown his smarts with the 49ers. I wonder if New England is kicking themselves now, but what a quandary to have Brady still performing - but I will say he is declining. He is not at the top level that he used to occupy.
Trubisky is growing, you can see it, gaining confidence. He is starting to use his gifts of his feet, where before he seemed to follow the script of the play. The Russell Wilsons, the Cams, the Rodgers all are able to extend plays with their feet. In time, that will make him extremely dangerous.
I'm fine with Trubisky, and I wish he had a better oline in front of him for the game against Minny. They still have something to play for, which will be a good test for him.
-
The 9ers are on a tear since Jimmy G took over. I kind of wish we could have swung a deal for him. But Trubisky is younger.
-
It looks like 9th right now. Bears benefited from the Bengals upset of the Lions.
Assuming a loss at Minnesota, Bears would need victories by the Jets, Bucs, Broncos or 49ers to win to move up from 9.
-
Draft update- #Bears can pick as high as 6 & as low as 13.
-
Yet these next two weeks could have a substantial impact on next April's draft. And for those who don't believe the Bears have much to offer in terms of appealing to potential up-and-coming head coaches, a top-five pick would help much more in that regard than the 14th overall selection.
If the next Sean McVay, whoever that might be, is deciding between the Bears and another team, a top-five pick might sway him to the Midwest, assuming he believes QB Mitch Trubisky is the real deal.
And when it comes down to it, Trubisky's development into a playoff-caliber franchise quarterback is the top priority. A new coaching staff can accelerate that process, but so could a top-five pick, far more than any supposed confidence the rookie might gain by beating a winless Browns team.
Ridiculous. A top 5 pick vs top 9 pick swaying somebody to coach the Bears?
-
I cant even see keeping Grasu as a backup. Pace needs to cut his losses and let him go.
I agree. Especially for a one trick pony who cant hold his own.
-
The whole OL was bad today. Need to bring in either a C or G depending on where they want to line up Whitehair going forward. I doubt they'd want to pay Sitton 8mil next year to miss or leave half the games they play, so his option wont get picked up. I'd want them to draft a OT in the first couple of rounds to compete vs Massie or Leno.
-
I cant even see keeping Grasu as a backup. Pace needs to cut his losses and let him go.
-
Grasu was on roller skates...
-
And the way Fuller is playing, he is earning a ton of money for next year. If his pass break ups were INTs he would be rolling in even more dough.
-
We got totally screwed on the Fox challenge. That was CLEARLY a first down, not where they respotted it. And how many times did Grasu get pushed backwards today? Pretty much every play. He is awful and needs to go.
-
Man....the Browns are awful. In the realm of stupid penalties they make the Bears look organized and well-coached. Not to mention red zone turnovers...
-
The Bears OLine can’t pass block...
-
Is it just me or did the Akkumara INT on the sideline look like he got both feet in bounds? Of course no challenge by Fox.
-
Yeah I dont think that could happen if he had 33 more seasons. lol Trubisky is looking fairly good today, considering the weather.
-
This idiot commentator believes Fox can lead the Bears to double digit wins. Possibly if he had three more seasons...
-
I look at todays game with hope, as it is a win/win situation. The Bears win, always love a win, the Bears lose, helps the draft pick. For once it is a cant lose emotional ride.
-
I'll be rooting for the bears to win tomorrow. The day I start hoping they lose is the day I stop watching or caring about the team.
Right on OCY !!
BEARSSE !!!

Reality is what it is JJ, suck it up. We gain more by losing than by winning.
That's TWISTED. It's wrong.
Let's think about this Wsh ,
We build a JACKSONVILLE - PHILLY - NEW ORLEANS type team.
That kind of TURNAROUND ... Need we say more ? L.A. RAMS.
Our team is not in that bunch mentioned.
WHY ??
How do we do it to be there ?
-
Reality is what it is JJ, suck it up. We gain more by losing than by winning.
-
When in the motherfuucking HELL did we turn into fans that want our TEAM to lose ??
There's something very perverted about that.
Bassackwards is an understatement when we have sunk that far low ...
to the fan base.
BUT ... we would have to ask ourselves ...
is it about the embarrassment of losing to Clevefuuckingland ...
or a better draft pick ?
We have sunk so low that there is no right answer.
After all these years ... that's not my CHICAGO BEARS ...it's not yours either.
We go out on top and we draft like NEW ENGLAND does almost every year ...
LAST !!
Seems to work for those motherfuuckers. >:(
-
"Unwinning"???
Seriously bumpkin
-
If the bears lose the next two games Fox will be your all-time un-winning coach.
-
I think it's pretty certain pace has made a decision on fox that the next 2 weeks won't change regardless of wins or losses.
-
McDaniels wants control of the 53. That is why he will not be Bears HC.
-
Very well said, thank you
-
The Chicago Bears are one of four NFL teams currently sitting at 4-10. Due to tiebreakers, if the season ended today, Chicago would have the sixth pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
The Bears will finish out the season on the road against the 11-3 Vikings. That should very easily result in a Vikings victory, although there is a chance that Minnesota might rest their starters if they have home-field advantage wrapped up by next week.
Yet with three NFC teams sitting at 10-4, just one game back of Minnesota, odds are likely that home-field advantage in the playoffs will be on the line in Week 17, which should result in a full starting lineup and maximum effort from the Vikings next week.
So let's assume the Bears lose to the Vikings, arguably the best team in the NFC this year. That would give Chicago 11 losses.
If you bump that number to 12 in the loss column, all it would take is one win from either the Texans or 49ers over the next two weeks and the Bears would jump into the top five of next year's draft.
Alternatively, if the Bears beat the Browns this week and a scenario develops in which the Vikings are able to sit their starters in the season finale, Chicago could drop all the way to 14th in next year's draft if they win out.
The Bears have picked in the top 10 the last three years straight and have just 13 total wins to show for it, so some might not see the value of letting GM Ryan Pace pick in the top five.
Yet even if Pace failed the past three years, which is debatable, all he has to do is knock it out of the park this year and land a huge impact defender, the type you can usually only find in the top five of any given draft, and the Bears will take a big step forward. If he can secure the next Von Miller or J.J. Watt or Joey Bosa or Khalil Mack (all top-five overall picks), all won't be lost.
On the flip side, if the Bears win out and pick 14th, then the odds of Pace landing a franchise-changing athlete drop considerably.
This isn't a call for Chicago to tank Sunday's game at Soldier Field. Being Cleveland's only win in a 1-15 season would put a filthy bow on an extremely disappointing three years under head coach John Fox.
At the same time, you have to wonder how many Bears fan even care, as I assume attendance on what is supposed to a be frigid day in Chicago will be south of 10,000 at Soldier Field. In reality, a loss isn't going to ruin anyone's Christmas Eve.
Some believe it would be good for the Bears to end the season on a high note, helping a young team under the guidance of a rookie quarterback carry some momentum into the off-season. Personally, I don't buy that. The Rams ended last season on seven-game losing streak and are currently one of the 10-4 teams in the home-field hunt.
The difference for Los Angeles was a change in coaching staff and the consensus belief in Chicago, which includes myself, is that Fox will be fired at season's end.
So anything that happens over the next two games won't have any impact when a new coaching staff takes over.
Yet these next two weeks could have a substantial impact on next April's draft. And for those who don't believe the Bears have much to offer in terms of appealing to potential up-and-coming head coaches, a top-five pick would help much more in that regard than the 14th overall selection.

And when it comes down to it, Trubisky's development into a playoff-caliber franchise quarterback is the top priority. A new coaching staff can accelerate that process, but so could a top-five pick, far more than any supposed confidence the rookie might gain by beating a winless Browns team.
The Bears should fight hard this weekend to represent their team, their city and their fans, but if they do fall to Cleveland this weekend at home, take solace in the fact that losing to the Browns might be the key to a much brighter future.
-
The only thing about McDaniel is is he good because he is good, or is he good because he has Tom Brady. AND would he even be willing to come work with Trubisky, as he is not yet that proven super star that Brady is.
-
It's astounding that in three years under Pace and Fox, the Bears have only been favored seven (now eight) times. In comparison, the Patriots probably have been favored 50 times in the same period. That the Bears have lost ALL seven games in which they were favored is ridiculous.
I hope the Bears get Josh McDaniel, and that he learned his lessons from his time as HC in Denver. Get that solid, Patriots, NFL offense going, with an established, offensive play caller. Then if he has any success at all, he wont be leaving to be a head coach on another team, like Adam Gase.
The most important position IN SPORTS is the quarterback, the NFL is an offensive league, the rules are geared toward offense, the Bears need to get an offensive minded HC who understands this. If the Bears get another defensive minded guy, who wants to "protect the football," I'm going to puke. Figure out how to score 28 points!
-
Of the 7 times a John Fox team has been favored to win, they have lost ALL 7. WTF is that all about? Oh and we are favored on Sunday. Put me down for losing the next two games, just to make sure Fox is gone next year. Although I wouldnt mind seeing Trubisky do well, and the loss come down to some stupid mistake made by Fox. Just saying.
-
Exactly, Besides, we dont have a good track record beating the Brownies especially when they play each other in the preseason. I think we either lose or its a close game. A loss helps us.
-
I think McPhee is gone, but i wouldn't be surprised if Young is back - he has one year left and is pretty productive when healthy. Edge rusher would be nice...
-
Well we have McPhee, Young and Floyd on IR and we need a stud edge rusher. Winning out is a good thing normally but we have so many needs we cant afford to win out and address these needs. I Seriously doubt McPhee is going to be back and I really question Young too. I doubt you are going to get a top notch edge rusher/OLB below the top 10 in the draft. So I say lose out and be happy with it.
-
I want a win, whenever we can get it. We had the worst record in our division last year and our reward was that we got to play the worst team in the NFC East, the Eagles. While our high draft pick helped us secure Trubiskey, we also drafted Cohen and Jackson in the past draft. Whitehair and Howard the year before. That high choice really matters in the first round and then not so much.
Win out.
-
I want them to lose so Detroit remains the only 0-16 team in history.
-
My question is....Do we really deserve a win? IMHO the answer is NO. Lose out and be done. This dreadful season doesnt deserve another win.
-
It's ironic we lose either way. We win and draft position might drop. We lose and our strength of schedule goes up by one win thus jeopardizing our draft position in ties. :)
-
Browns
-
So who do we root for ?
BEARSSE ?
Browns ?
-
Assuming the Bears don't win out - it looks like the Bears will at worst get the 10th pick in the draft.
A win against Cleveland would put them in a tie with the other 5 win teams like the Jets, Broncos, and Bengals which I figure we'd lose tiebreakers with because of their harder strength of schedule.
The Bears played all the teams in the tough NFC South (maybe 3 playoff teams), plus Philadelphia from the NFC east, and the decent AFC North. The only other team that might have a more difficult schedule could be the Bucs (they played all the teams in the NFC South twice), but they barely lost last night and look to be stuck at 4 wins.
-
I read something like that from Aaron Lemming, for what it is worth.
-
Some one on one of these threads posted something about the worst we could draft is 10th and the best we could draft is 7th. Don't know where the stats came from but it was posted here so I believe it. :)
-
While I really hope we dont we probably will. Actually we are better off if we dont win. We are in the top ten in the 2018 draft and deserve to be there. A win screws us out of the top 10.
-
Can we beat Cleveland ?
-
Alshon had another nice TD catch like that yesterday
-
Briggs article was pretty insightful. I like the part about the Inman slant in the end zone - it's pretty bad when your opponents know what you're going to. Points to a lack of creativity, but still was a bad decision by Trubisky to force it in there.
Often times Trubisky is having to thread a needle to complete a pass. I mean, how many times do we see the ball going to a Bear receiver with 2 or 3 guys on him? And how many times do you see a Bear receiver running across the middle catching the ball and taking more than 2 steps before getting tackled?
There's no one on the team that can be trusted with those 50/50 throws that you see other teams attempt - that's why I liked Alshon so much.
-
Its just a miserable offensive coaching staff. The game plan was beyond stupid. It will all be different soon...
-
Jordan Howard I believe was number one with yards per carry from runs out of shotgun last year and at least top 5 this year He is your number one weapon on offense. Does it not make sense to use your number one weapon out of shotgun with the option of pulling back with a quick pass or a QB run? Injuries will happen to everyone, but not utilizing your players strength is inexcusable.
-
Biggs made a great point today in his 10 thoughts article. Last week, they ran Howard 10 times from the shotgun, after going away from it for most of the season. Those 10 carries netted 97 yards, and since his college days he has ran well from that formation.
Against the Lions, he didn't have a carry from the shotgun. Why? Why go away from it? It is almost like the scheme away from something that is successful. They didn't get Cohen more involved until the media raised the issue.
Watching the Packers yesterday, I watched as they rolled Rodgers out repeatedly. I am guessing he is good at it. To me, it seems like we have not emphasized this enough in the package that Trubiskey runs. I understand he has a lot to learn, including being under center and throwing from the pocket, but let's not take away one of his better skills in rolling right and cutting the field in half. Biggs continues to add, that helped the success of Watson earlier this year - tailoring the offense to the QB skill set.
Injuries to the offensive line and a coaching staff that seems to go away from the skill set of your players, contributes to an offense that under achieves. Heck, let's throw in the lack of quality WR play while we are at it, but I think it is not at the top of that list.
-
The knee jerk media thought the Bears were on the right track after the Bengal win. I knew better.
Those holes the O-line weren't there this week...like they weren't there the previous games prior to Cincinnati. With not running game the offense has no chance.
Pace just needs to hit on another draft like he did in 2017. Just so many holes..
-
Great game. Terrible rule but the correct call.
They have to fix that catching and going to the ground rule.
-
What happened?
-
Wow....the way the Patriots won. That’s rough if you’re a Steelers fan....
-
Um yeah, simpleton, when the video evidence shows the refs BLEW the calls, obviously, and Rodgers is crying to the officials on the field, go pound salt. Especially since they lost.
-
You think the Packers get all the calls because your team can’t beat them.
It’s that simple
-
Funny I thought it was just the Pack against the Bears where the refs gave them all the calls. Nope looks like they get WAY MORE than their fare share of calls. Even blatently obvious incorrect calls. I hate that. But I am glad they Puke lost.
-
That’s why I cringed when I saw Todd McShay’s latest mock, which had the Bears taking Ridley at #8, and the next two picks being Key and Williams (stud edge, stud OT)...
-
I just watched the second half. Once I saw Grasu get in the game, not good. We should STRONGLY consider an OL with our first draft pick. just saying.
Edge or OT, whichever is better value at the pick would be my preference.
-
I love how the announcers always make a point to say that the Bears havn't quit on John Fox and the coaching staff, and that they still are playing "hard." Just not smart, or well, or consistently, or prepared...
-
So our rookie QB and retread WR were not on the same page. Who knows who was wrong, but can you just imagine if we had real/talented WRs who WERE on the same page. Boohya.
-
To me on the third interception, it looks like Inman ran the wrong route, Trubiskey expected an out, and Inman went... in I guess Trubiskey should have expected Inman to go in, his name is all you need to know
-
How many years now is this turnaround going on?? I have little hope for this team, from experience.....
-
I think the young guys are learning. We need more talent and a better coach.
An off season should help Trubisky a ton especially since he got significant playing time. He needs better receivers and a better rapor with his receivers.
Our O-line has been losing players left and right all year.
And what does this tell you what we should draft ?
In anybody's order of preference :
16 game starters to a man , no supahstahs ... joe lunchbox. Grabowski City.
WR
OL
LB
WR
OL
LB
K
We see the same positions where every body cannot play year after year after year ...
it is like the proverbial stuck CD in your car stereo... which is also obsolete.
It had a nice run with many fond memory's ... but it's in the junk pile baby.
BEARS should continue to rebuild ... we need more. We're almost there. ;D
Look at the two teams that moved to my town ... chumps last year ... contenders now.
We can turn it around that fast too. You just gotta believe. :D
-
First? Top 3 maybe, but first? Although I agree the OL def needs some help...
-
I just watched the second half. Once I saw Grasu get in the game, not good. We should STRONGLY consider an OL with our first draft pick. just saying.
-
Believe me, I also agree Fox must go. The guy's terrible. What I'm saying is his replacement won't do anything either. They keep going through coach after coach after QB after DLineman after backup QB after wideout after etc etc etc and it is not turning this mess around. Might as well toss coins at the Titanic....
-

I am not saying we have a super star roster, but if you think Fox is the end all be all for coach, I will respectfully disagree. He needs to go, and the sooner the better.
-
The team is talent deficient and a new coach will not help. HASN'T helped yet. But keep telling yourself it will...even though much history proves you wrong...
-
I totally disagree, a coaching staff change WILL help this team. Logains is WAY over his head, Fox plays not to lose, Fangio doesnt have the players to play the way he wants or doesnt trust who he has. Not saying we have an all star roster right now, but we are not that far away. Coaches need to be replaced, Jan 01.
-
Really poor decision in the end zone. The first and last were just bad passes.
Detroit shut down the Bears running and Trubisky and company just aren't potent enough to carry the team.
Four big plays continued Lion drives. Goldman slugging the Lion after the play, the Fuller hands to the face, the Amukamora hold and the Jackson play on that long pass from Stafford. But overall giving up 20 to the Lions offense at home was decent.
A new coach will not help this team - there is a talent gap with the rest of the league.
-
Yeah Trubisky is learning from old Cutler film. Great game Mike with those interceptions. Vintage Cutler.
-
But it hurts the Packers chances of making the playoffs and improves our draft position.
Plus Trubisky is playing and learning. I am good with it.
-
It sure has the feel of a Packer/bear game...you're losing.
-
Hard for this offense to overcome six flags in a drive
-
These coaches can’t be out of here fast enough....
-
Someone better then these clowns hopefully.
-
This is boring. So who's the new coach?
-
LOL! I almost posted the exact same thing.
-
Seriously I think we are playing the Packers the way the refs are calling this game.
-
Nick Foles time
-
I see Wentz is done for the season.....
-
Eagles, if not the best (with wentz), is one of two, in the league. And the Rams are no slouch either
-
Peckers have to win all 3 games - AND still will not make the playoffs. They will not pass Carolina, Seattle and Atlanta. Carolina will stomp on them.
-
Anyone else watching the Rams/Eagles game? These are two good football teams and an entertaining game.
Hopefully one day soon the Bears will return to that glory.
-
Pack plays Carolina next?
LOL!
That will be a loss. Panthers will kill the Packers and end your very, very slim play off hopes.
-
Every team has to play the refs and then the Packers when they are on the schedule.
Rodgers and before him Favre make for good ratings. That is why they have so many "miracle" wins. It is easy when the refs are always throwing a flag to keep your drive alive and throwing flags to end your opponents.
-
Pack 31 Catalina 17
And so the Playoff run starts.
Something the Bears only dream about....
-
I am just sick of the "miracle" last second wins from the Pack is all. If Rodgers gets back in and has to have his arm amputated because of an injury, that wouldnt hurt my feeling one bit.
-
Relax it took them OT and a lot of luck to win against the Browns. They will be lucky to make the playoffs and if they do Rodgers will likely get hurt again.
They would be better off for Rodgers not to play again until next year.
-
Inman and Wright are number two's at best. I like them both but we need a true #1.
-
The only thing that taints the Bears win is the Fudge Pack winning in OT. Puke.
-
Trubisky looked very good today. And so did Eddie Jackson and Kyle Fuller. If Fuller cold actually catch all the passes he breaks up he would be Peanut Tillman v2.0. I liked that Kendall Wright caught so many passes, but Inman had zero targets, and he is the only "real" WR we have. What is up with that??
-
Great game today!
I loved what I saw from Trubisky. Gives me hope for the future.
-
they're just running up and down the football field. The Bears could end up being the undefeated champions of the afc north. who knew?
-
Trubisky looks great when he has open receivers. This is the first time this year that I've seen so many guys open down field.
-
Fox finally makes a good challenge.
-
who the hell are these guys? Where the hell have they been?
-
When was the last time the Bears got a turnover and turned it into 7 to blow a game wide open?
-
Too bad we did not play this well in about 6 other games we had good chance of winning. Could easily be 9 and 4 or 10 and 3.
Trubisky looks great today.
-
Ha! Packers losing 21-7 to Brownies.
-
Trubisky having a good game...definitely should help his confidence. They are letting him attempt more and he’s doing well. This season has got to be wearing on him. He’ll be able to take a breath and feel good about accomplishing something.
-
The worst thing is the injuries. These last two years have to be the worst we’ve ever seen as Bears fans. Hoping that it’s something that Fox’s staff is doing. The nutrition, conditioning and strength programs need to be completely overhauled.
-
So sick of the stupid penalties.
Trubisky's passes look fine to me.
-
I am liking the way Trubisky is moving the ball, but his passes dont seem as crisp as usual. And that last helmet to helmet hit he took, lets hope his brains are not scrambled....
-
So Cohen got screwed out of 2 TDs by penalties. And Fox and his brain dead challenge. Seriously. And even though Shaheen didnt make the catch in the endzone, at least he is making plays. He needs to be on the field ALL the time. Ditto for Cohen.
-
Whenever they make a play, you automatically wait for the flag. I hope the next staff can cut down on the penalties. So sloppy... it would be refreshing to watch some clean, competent play.
-
Offense looks good.
Damn penalties are killing them though.
-
Trubisky very accurate
-
Shaheen with a nice grab to get them out of their own endzone.
-
Browns up 14-7 over the Packers.
-
Geez catch the ball!!! Someone make a play for once.
-
I want to see Shaheen today
-
Another stupid challenge
-
The sideline marker had the los at the 32 not the 30.
-
Geez who decided to challenge
-
They did play a very brutal game against the Steelers last week.
Browns just ties it up with the packers.
-
That made me laugh out loud. Missing the xp....this kicker kicked for years in Cincy if I’m not mistaken. So Bears...
That being said, it looks like the Bengals have quit
-
Make that 6-0 Bears.
New kicker misses the XP. WTF?
-
Nice start!
7-0 Bears!
-
Pack 7-0!
-
How bad do the bears lose today?
I say they lose by 17.
-
Hope
A lost part of Bear Football.
-
I'd love it if he came back
-
A loss at Cleveland pretty much eliminates the Pack from contention. A win, puts Aaron Rodgers in danger of further injury (do you really think that shoulder is fully healed - Tony Romo thought his was too when he came back).
-
Have you guys considered partnering with Cleveland?
-
Steelers also have had Rothlisberger, Antonio Bryant, and Laveon Bell for the entire season...it helps when you have healthy pro bowlers on your roster.
And I really don't buy that the Steelers have more starters out with injuries than the Bears.
Look at all the games Young has missed....Demps....Trevathian and Kwiatowski missed a few....Amukamora missed a few early...now Floyd...I guess Freeman's departure was PED related...but he was the starting MLB.
Offensively, Meridith and White....Miller....Long has been in and out
DAL,
Look at the injurys and what I have been saying we should draft.
I didn't arrive at that conclusion from guess work.
Your facts back it up. The order of preference in any order:
1.WR
2.WR
3.OL
4.OL
5.LB
6.LB
&.K
16 game starters from all of them ... miracles can occur. ;)
-

not just total injuries, IRed players. I heard its 19 players for the rest of the season. Thats just horrible
-
And good depth, which is a direct result of good scouting and player development...
-
and yet out of those 4 teams, only the Steelers are in the hunt. Damn good coaching.
-
Looks like bears are 4th in injuries behind packers redskins and steelers
-
I would rather lose all the remaining games
Yes and the key word there is "rather". At this point in the season with a 9 game losing streak and high draft position in sight, its difficult to get angry with the losses. However what gets me angry is the lack of conditioning that gets players IRed. I'm sorry, but our number of IRed players for the season has to be the most in the league this year. Is it the drafting, the league rules or just bad breaks. We have to do a better job keeping players healthy.
-
Its goes against my nature to hope the Bears lose a game. But it's easier to accept the losses when you know your draft position improves. Maybe now I root especially hard for the Titans, 49ers, Giants, and Bucs. Maybe the Browns - but only because they play the Pack this weekend. (If we tie with any team they win, cuz the Bears have the toughest schedule in the NFL - ain't even close).
It's almost like I'm approaching the Bears remainder of the season as a fantasy footballer, rooting for the rookies (Trubisky, Cohen, Shaheen and Jackson) to improve as well as other young players (Bullard, Kwiatowski and Robertson-Harris) and of course Jordan Howard because he's the only player with ability to rack up NFL quality stats. Also root for Fuller (because everyone was so against him) and Inman (cause I want him to do good so we can bring him back next year).
I swear if they play Shaheen 9 snaps again... so glad we are mathematically eliminated at this point so the coaches should focus on development over wins. At least if the front office has a say.
-
Well, it looks like the family of former Bears coach Abe Gibron will be celebrating the Holidays this year.

I would rather lose all the remaining games. Even the Cleveland game. Let the Lions remain the only 0-16 team. :)
-
Yep, this is bad.. real bad..
-
Read that Shaheen was on the field for 9 plays. And Markus Wheaton must really really suck. He got on the field for one play. He's not a pro bowler but is he that bad? Just don't understand it.
And the injuries leading up to and including the 49er game is incredible. Amos goes out last week...and his 2 backups Houston-Carson and Deon Bush both get hurt, missing an opportunity for their first career starts.
Then rookie OLB Irving gets hurt after playing one game and they fortunately find Lamar Houston available. Then McPhee gets hurt in the San Fran game. So the 3 top pass rushing OLBs going into the season are out: Floyd, Willie Young and now McPHee and Grappolo looks like Joe Montana back there with all the time in the world since now teams can double Hicks.
I don't know that we can beat Cleveland...at home...with this team.

I would rather see Trubisky play and learn then the Glennon shitshow that was getting us no where.
-
Leno was held. The inside defender was holding his right arm which kept him from getting out to defend the outside rusher. If you have it recorded go back and watch it is obvious.
Where he is at fault was crying about it while there was a loose football.
I feel like Trubisky has all of the skills needed to be a good QB. He is a rookie and he is going to take his lumps. He will be better next year with more protection and better receivers.
-
And was that Jerry Rice out there? The Bear corners were giving 10 yard cushions on their wide outs.
Watch the Bears offense and the defenders are on them like glue. How many wide open receivers did Trubisky pass to?
And Trubisky isn't without fault. We hear the same old sh*t from him week in and week out. He's got to know when to pull the trigger when the deep guy is covered. On one play there are two guys open over the middle and he's just staring off into space then finally backs up and throws it into the ground.
He didn't sh*t the bed today but he's not good enough to carry a team with this kind of talent. 2nd and 8....2nd and 9....if we get a penalty its time to get the punter ready.
-
As the season progresses, I'm getting more and more convinced that OL is the #1 priority. Leno and Massie are below average at best, Sitton and Long are regressing. Whitehair is the only guy I'd feel comfortable saying is going to be a solid starter next year and he's been erratic.
I would have disagreed with you earlier in the season, but we can't run the ball. And Leno single handedly killed two drives with the holding call and letting the 49er DE come untouched on the strip sack. (I saw him complaining but now I hear he said he was held - I dunno I didn't see much effort to block outside).
-
From Adam Hoge, via Twitter...
John Fox on why he didn’t let the #49ers score a TD at the end: “We felt good about the block we had on the potential field goal. Neither one of those are great options at the 5 and 4 yard line."
I’m guessing they had something different planned than what they did on the previous 4 FG’s?
-
I have two teams back in my neck of the woods for the first time in the 21st century.
One of the teams really suucked last year and are now 8-3 and counting.
I thought that was going to happen for our BEARS ... but alas ... 2018 Draft :
In your order of preference :
1. WR
2. WR
3. LB
4. LB
5. OL
6. OL
7. K
All those nasty positions that can NEVER finish a 16 game season !
Build a team like the Energizer Bunny ... it keeps going and going and going and ...
-
The only way the Bears are going to improve over the next three years is if they build from within, starting with HIGH draft choices.
I agree with that, however, we've been snake bit with White and Floyd. And its hard telling what might ruin Trubisky before he even has a decent chance. It seems that the players they draft arent strong enough to play well or we have a bad conditioning/training program. It could also have something to do with players union rules too which I know nothing of. But the bottom line is all our players seem to get injured and the cohesion of both the offense and defense is affected. The end result is we put 2nd, third and 4th string players in starting positions and you cant expect players like that to succeed.
-
I think this says everything about the coaches:
#Bears players continue to rave about Tarik Cohen and how good he is. They know his importance, yet Cohen gets 6 touches and is on the field for 16 plays Sunday.
-
Who expected anything different.
A lot of people did, probably including you.
No. I didn't want Trubisky to play at all this year, regardless of whether we did well or poorly (I expected poorly). The only way the Bears are going to improve over the next three years is if they build from within, starting with HIGH draft choices. And during that time, your franchise quarterback should not be starting, and for that matter, shouldn't be on the team. Build your defense and your offensive line and running game first, and then draft your franchise quarterback, when he can be protected.
The worst thing that can happen to a team is to consistently be between 6 and 10 and 10 and 6. I have been criticized on this board several times for saying that I would much rather that the Bears were 0 and 16 than 8 and 8.
-
Fangio is popular enough around the league it's possible a new coach would want him, but if Pace decides to keep him some coach candidates will turn away.
I found his conservative defese today annoying. Very little blitzing, DBs playing deep trying not to lose.
-
When you fire a coach you're firing all the assistants because a newly hired coach gets to hire his own.
For most of the NFL that's the case. But with the Bears anything can happen. They tried to keep Marinelli when Lovie was fired and make him Trestman's DC. A couple of the beat reporters were saying that Fangio could potentially stay past the Fox regime.
-
Fox should be fired immediately.. And I agree about Fangio.. This team is a total cluster fukk!! Remember Wanny's teams, at least they played til the final game.. This is terrible..
-
Trevethan getting hurt didnt help. He was the one who was really trying at the begining of the game. And the first half everyone seemed to play hard and do well, yet after halftime, they call came out in a coma. Dont know if Fox was playing Yani music in the locker room at half time or what, but he definitely DIDNT motivate anyone to do better. We cant get a new coaching staff soon enough. I would say 15 minutes after the last game Fox should be fired. And I wanted to keep Fangio, but after today, not so much.
-
I am really really happy Gould beat the bears single handed. Of course I am not so happy that we crapped down our leg, stepped on our diick, and shiit the bed. Long was out in the second half, our OL is a mess. All of our pass rushers were hurt, I would say we would be VERY lucky to beat the Browns, let alone anyone else. Seems like everyone has given up, including the coaches. I know THIS fan has given up.
-
When you fire a coach you're firing all the assistants because a newly hired coach gets to hire his own.
-
I hope Fangio and Loggains leave with Fox. Bears have been outschemed in nearly every game this year.
-
Bears D crumbling, just in time...
-
And leno didn't protest nerly loudly enough
-
It looked to me that the DE held Leno on that strip, allowed the LB to run untouched and strip Trubisky.
-
Not a fan of Fangios soft zone.
-
The Fox Bears continue to lose on third down....
-
Stark contrast between how open the Bears receivers are vs the 49ers receivers. Its rough watching Prosinski and Houston struggle to get anywhere near their assignment in coverage.
As the season progresses, I'm getting more and more convinced that OL is the #1 priority. Leno and Massie are below average at best, Sitton and Long are regressing. Whitehair is the only guy I'd feel comfortable saying is going to be a solid starter next year and he's been erratic.
-
Kyle Fuller is playing out of his mind today. Cohen is probably going to give his coaches a heart attack with that reverse. And why oh why is Shaheen not getting any snaps??? And that was the dumbest challenge yet for Fox.
-
Down to Acho and Houston as the only pass rushers. Hard to win that way.
-
Why are they challenging? It’s clearly short...
-
Leno is terrible....didn’t Pace just extend him?
-
The Bears got one of those things....what are they called, I forget.
-
So the 49ers just drive down the field to score on their first drive. Let's see if we can answer.
-
How will this team look next year with injured WR's coming back and new
WR's in the draft ?
Gimme Four ! Two coming back from injured and two new ones.
MT is a sitting duck with no where to toss to.
That can be opened up bigtime next year.
-
Trubisky has no business playing in a game like this. He can develop just as well on the bench as in a game where he and the team are embarrassed. And the next thing that is likely to happen is for him to get a career affecting injury.
Did you learn how to drive a car by watching your mom or dad drive?
Trubisky is gaining valuable experience by playing now. I saw Troy Aikman his rookie year and he was something like 0-11. I posted Matthew Stafford's rookie year stats and they were dreadful.
Nobody knows if Trubisky is the man, but we won't ever find out by him watching Glennon or Sanchez play.
As for the injury comment, I didn't see the game but from the stats it says Trubisky was sacked twice. Last week he was sacked once. Maybe he's getting hit a lot but it doesn't look like he's at any more risk of getting hurt than any other QB in the league.
-
Browns most likely. The Bears have already won their share of wins
-
John Faux took the travelling clown show known as the Chicago Bears on the road and proved just why he shouldn't be coaching this **** show. Hard to believe it was the primary game for a lot of folks.
Most owners would surely show they were pissed after getting pantsed on national TV like that but until sweaty Teddy and the dead hand of the McCaskeys are removed from this team, they appear doomed to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. They may get lucky once in awhile and be relevant but otherwise they are the NJ Generals to everyone (well, almost everyone) Harlaam Globetrotters. (yea, wrong sport but it seems fitting somehow since this team is not an NFL team)....
John Faux football. Somewhere Trestman's breathing a sigh of relief that he is being forgotten as the worst Bears HC in the modern era.....
Ugh. Again looking forward to seeing who they pick as HC (not hopeful it will be the right guy) and the draft. Heading into 2/3 a decade of playoff irrelevance. Who get to the postseason 1st- Browns or Bears.....
-
Who expected anything different.
A lot of people did, probably including you. People expected if we just had a franchise QB and got him playing, everything would go up. But it hasnt happened, which doesnt surprise me. We just dont have enough picks to fix this mess. And we cant judge the talent to stay healthy enough to succeed. And look at the Pack, decimated by injuries. Thats what happens to your dreams when that happens.
-
The Eagles are a very good team, and they are on a hot streak. The Bears are a poor team, and they are on a cold streak. Who expected anything different.
Trubisky has no business playing in a game like this. He can develop just as well on the bench as in a game where he and the team are embarrassed. And the next thing that is likely to happen is for him to get a career affecting injury.
I thought the same thing today. Might want to start thinking about the future, or maybe save the future. The sooner Fox goes the better. I don't want him making any more of an impression on Trubisky than he already has..
-
Game was on local channel and setup was for DirecTV so I missed the entire game.
Ouch.
Lucky you! It was on local here too, and it was brutal!
-

I don't see why so many are surprised considering what the eagles did to the ninerd broncos and cowboys the last few weeks.
The eagles stacked the line with better players than the other teams the bears have faced.
-

Ouch.
-
Something good would be moving the team to L.A. and starting over fresh with new owners and new players, coaches, burn Halas down and relocate it and disinfect Soldiers a few times.....or simply, nuke it from orbit...may be the only hope....

the nfl is getting more and more film on #10. I just don't want him busted up. I personally feel the bears are well past wanny bad, into simply put, fox bad. supplanted wanny bad. wanny bad was better than the current fox bad. I see fangio bailing on this steaming pile of vomit at end of year. i remember being pissed at lovie and the jer because they went 10-6 and didn't make the playoffs. this fox /pace thing simply isn't working. somebody's gotta do something, something good.
-
Well we didnt get shut out, so we got that going for us. And for everyone who said OL isnt a HUGE need in the draft or FA, please rewatch this game. Build the trenches, and get some WR help as well. I would love to know if it was the WRs or Trubisky who was off on some of those late throws. Not that it really matters. And how many times was Shaheen targeted???? I think zero. Nice that Simms is healthy, but for Shaheen to not get ANY targets is criminal.
I said this last year, after we moved up for Turbisky we should have gotten a couple of OL.
-
I just dont understand how on D we let soooo many passes that should be INTs go right thru our hands. Coaching is all I can think. Can Fox tom, let Fangio finish the year, and let Harbaugh decide if he wants him to run his D.
-

I know it is as if they are in the huddle hearing the play called.
-
The Eagles are completely ready for and all over everything the Bears try....
-
Jackson is not Brownie.....Brown would have taken that to the house. Jackson can't even catch it....
-
This is mid-90’s, Wannie bad. Not remotely competitive, in any aspect. They are STILL miles and miles away from the playoffs.
-
I agree that this team has given up. Wish Fox would quit wearing the Bears sweatshirt. Fukking disgraceful!!
I was hoping someone would lay the wood on Alshon. I guess not only do the Bears suck, but there's no toughness either..
-

-
Right up there with some of the worst games this team has played the last decade....not at all impressed with Trubisquit, either....show me something or your just another Cutler/Grossman/mile long line of pathetic QB's this team has had....
-
OL has been awful. Eagles are in the backfield on every play. I think it's time to move on from Long and Sitton (he left with a concussion apparently) . Those two have fallen off a cliff this year. It might just be that they are banged up, but I cant imagine betting on them recovering.
The defense has been bad every game Trevathan or Freeman wasnt making the calls for the defense. Kwiatkowski and Jones arent getting the job done as the playcallers.
-
We cant run, so they stack the box, our WRs dont get open, not a good recipe for QB development....
-
Trubisky having his worst game....
-
I actually hope we dont win any more games this year, lets make SURE Fox is gone next year, and improve our draft pick as much as possible. Every little bit helps.
-
Not only did we step on our diicks in the first half we shiit the bed and down our leg. 272 yards to 30 in the first half, zero first downs, seriously are you kidding me. And it just kills me to see my "old/ex" guy Alshon actually try and do well for another team. Kind of like when Peppers went to GB and actually tried hard. The question now is is it going to be a shut out, and will they even get ONE first down. Not so sure.
-
After the pathetic loss to the Packers I stopped caring about wins since they aren't going to win many anyway. I am just watching to see how Trubisky develops.
There really isn't any other reason to watch any longer this year.
-
Not sure how anyone can continue being a fan of this rotten franchise, really. This is such a pathetic showing. Completely embarrassing themselves and any fans that remain. And this is year after year after year with this team. Now the receiver they should have kept is burying them and bowling in celebration. Stupid azzed team.....terrible.... >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
-
24-0.
I told my neighbor I thought it would be like 30-10 Eagles. Looks like it is going to be a heck of a lot worse then that.
-
I don't think they have given up. They are simply outclassed by the Eagles in every aspect of the game.
From talent in all three phases to the coaching. Between all the injuries (they seem to have a ton every single year) and the lack of talent to begin with when they play good teams they can't hang.
-
This feels like they have given up....another bottom for the franchise
-
Won't matter. They'll just make another terrible choice. Unless they get Cowher or Chuckie, I won't be impressed. Nothing less will ever turn this Titanic f'ing mess of a team around....nothing....
-
This is pretty much what I expected.
Can you imagine what it would like with out two lucky fumble recoveries?
Punter has been terrible. New kicker missed but it was over 50 yards.
Defense has been pretty bad. I knew they would struggle to get pressure with out Floyd. I don't understand why they can't stop the run. No excuse for that.
The offense has been absolutely abysmal.
-
First thing that needs to happen.. GET RID OF FOX
-
Former Bear John Thierry dead at 46....massive heart attack....
-
Mitch Grossman fumbling the snap. Offense setting records on penalties. Kicker no better than the guy he replaced. This is a pathetic mess of a team.....again......still.....
-
This is what it looks like when a shitty team plays a good team..
-
WTF? Why would you try to kick that.. Should've gone for it..
-
I agree, for us to make a game of it would be a "victory" in itself..
-
I am expecting a slaughter today, especially with Trevethan out. But it would be nice if we didnt step on our diicks and look too terrible. And if Trubisky could continue his growth, just like Wentz did last year....
-
EARTH !
Dawn !
2017 !
CHICAGO BEARS pad up ...
stone cold fuucking brilliant in who they are now ...
they've won three games ...
there's a cockiness in why not just kill yourselves while going for broke ?
Philly is one of the anointed juggernauts and ...
CHICAGO is not.
A feeling of what the fuuck and why not ... pervades.
That if you are going to get beat ... then why not go balls out ?
Let Philly know that we showed up here ... and we humbugged their ass.
That they didn't win this by us laying down.
BEARRSSE !!!
-
Hiber,
Wouldn't it be shiits and giggles if we knocked off Philly ?
If the Eagles are looking past the Bears, we COULD catch them by surprise with an upset. COULD I said. ;)
-
You ever notice how the journalists, columnists, and local broadcasters try to frame the discussion? I think most of us and the general Bears public saw the lack of talent and discipline that the previous regimes left in place. I would be interested in knowing the amount of players left from the team that ended the 2014 season, that began the 2017 season. With that amount of churn, you have to allow the plan to develop. It is funny now hearing the talking heads saying you should tie Pace and Fox equally to the record.
Pace is still only 40 and is going to continue to grow. I see more promise, than misses. The front offices and coaches that survive the longest all have one thing. Hmm, what is it, what could it be? Hmm. Oh yeah, a franchise QB. Patriots, Steelers, Packers, Saints. They may have their swoons, but they are never deep.
Fox on the other hand is the same coach we have been conditioned to as Bears. Keep it close, play close to the vest. An when you lack the scoring talent, that is not a good recipe. I want a Sean Payton type of coach. Someone that can call the plays and have control of the sideline and locker room. The offense doesn't change every year because the coordinator isn't the creator. Cutler was ultimately less, but how would he have been if he had the same voice in his year during his prime years? Maybe above average? With Trubiskey, we need that voice and we need to keep that voice around.
-
I agree with hiber, especially with fox. Fox is a real dud.. I think the sooner he is gone the better..
-
Hiber,
Wouldn't it be shiits and giggles if we knocked off Philly ?
-
This team really has little to do with Pace. I personally can see the talent upgrade with the younger players. However the coaching is subpar on many levels. I like Fangio, he is the only one I would keep. The rest would be out the door. I have been saying for years....look at what Mike Tomlin been doing in Pittsburg for years. Its fracking coaching. Every NFL team has talent, get the most out of that talent is coaching. We have not had a good coach in a long while.
-
Floyd gone for the year. Of course. Again, I'm sure its just me, But N.O. is doing really, really well with a 12,000 year old Q.B. AFTER this guy
left to be the Bears G.M. Once again, nobody can stay on the field to play a season or two.
-
They felt they couldn't can him after he made 3 for 3 from over 40 yards out against the Pack.
-
Connor Barth fired, one game too late...
-
The point I was trying to make is that Harbaugh's OC wasn't exactly a fan favorite when he was here before...
-
I didn't hear it but holding out hope for Floyd. Fox said that Floyd doesn't look to have torn his ACL but they are running more tests.
From the sound of that, as someone suggested earlier, it may be an MCL sprain - which would be exceptional news. Fingers crossed.
-
So it may have been Harris 1st week back from the injury?
-
I found this website - Robertson-Harris was supposedly active (I thought I saw him on one play but can't be sure):
Bryce Callahan CB Inactive
Tom Compton OG Inactive
John Jenkins DT Inactive
Taquan Mizzell RB Inactive
Mark Sanchez QB Inactive
Dion Sims TE Inactive
Danny Trevathan ILB Inactive
DeAndre Houston-Carson FS Active
I like Callahan but the kid can't stay healthy.
-
I believe Robertson-Harris pulled a hamstring on kickoff coverage several weeks ago. Could use him
-
A good headline today could be
"John Faux football plumbs new depths of buffoonery" :D
Fully expected a loss and was not dissapointed. Faux football at its finest.
At least the Broncos (in the midst of an implosion at the moment) fired OC McCoy after losing 6 straight. Not saying it will make a difference, but it sure would feel better to show Faux the door than see him bumbling around on the sidelines as the beloved keep heading into Browns territory perception-wise. (And I can see the Bears losing to the Browns giving them their only win).....
Pace needs to wake the fuck up (forgive my French) and understand the stench coming from this team will stick to him. His next HC choice better be good, or the Bears will be stuck in that mid-70s funk of suckage without the fun of at least having Walter to look forward to (alhough Howard aint that bad).....
-
Griz
Totally agree about Floyd and the D-line. Hicks seems like he's always out there. Is Roy Robertson-Harris healthy - need to see more of him when he is.
I thought someone in last night's Cowboy/Eagles mentioned that Eagles bring in a second defensive line. Those guys look like they're shot out of a cannon every play...including the DTs.
-
So you're saying there's a chance...
Yes, but only when he11 freezes over first, if such a chance exists.
-
Abysmal. I know I must be wrong, but it appears to me everyone Pace drafts and makes the roster gets hurt and sits. Something very fundamental is badly flawed with this organization.
-
I'll say this about yesterday's game. My biggest disappointment was the Floyd injury. We aren't going anywhere this season and I hope it is not requiring surgery. If he got lucky and it does not, shut him down. I also see that the mileage we are putting on Hicks is starting to show, he is a warrior. I'd like to see Bullard get more snaps in the rotation with Goldman and Hicks, so they get less wear and tear, and Bullard further develops. One thing you can't question is that Fuller is the better cornerback right now than Cooper. They put Cooper in on one drvie and the Lions proceeded to completely roast him. Did anyone else see the shot when they cut the glove off of Fullers hand? All the blood, wow!
This was the team I was expecting to see against Green Bay. That was a great balanced attack and I think Trubiskey is showing good signs and toughness. Does anyone doubt if you switched teams with him and Stafford, the result would have been the same? All the weapons that Detroit has, amazing. Do you think Stafford would rather have our weapons? The fact that it was that close is crazy! Let's put a few more WR pieces in place, another tackle, and I think this offense could take off with the next coaching staff.
-
Yes. I believe in miracles.
(https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/4PWg0JynpN1mfohu7xW58w--/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjtzbT0xO3c9OTA2O2g9NTA5/http://media.zenfs.com/en/homerun/feed_manager_auto_publish_494/0c3b31a91fd65df110cb1dd33b28b213)
-
So you're saying there's a chance...
-
Small miracle? Like beating 20 trillion to 1 odds small.
-
You guys realize that, if by small miracle, Harbaugh came to Chicago...that he would likely want to bring his OC with him?
-
Nah
-
Barf
-
Yep, this Barth guys time is up. Bring back the Augillar for the rest of the season.
Fox - the coach who plays not to lose. I want a new coach who is/knows a little bit more about Bears/Packers rivalry. Jeff Fisher anyone?
-
The pathetic Bears couldn't do it, but the Ravens just shut out the Pakers at home, LOL! It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.... :D
-
You KNEW this guy was a bad kicker last year! WTF is he doing still missing kicks? Please explain to me why he is still on the team? This guy is awful....you are telling me there isn’t someone better somewhere? It’s not a high standard, being better than this guy.
-
Oh and that "great" Packers team lost to the Ravens in Green bay 23-0.
It is as if Fox teams do just enough to lose even the games they should win or dominate for parts of.
-
At this point, I get rid of Fox and Loggains. Remember, they're tinkering with our future QB..
-
Stelz, we've followed this miserable team how many years? I knew from the start the end, lol. Doesn't faze me in the least....expected....
That being said, why is Barth the kicker? Anyone? Where has this offense been the entire year? Anyone? Why have they not used Cohen more? Anyone? Why is Faux still the coach? Why does anyone even care anymore? They don't, why should we?
-
It’s like there’s a script....you KNEW Prader was going to make his from 60 and Barth would miss at the end.
-
If that's not a reason to sh!t can the kicker Monday morning I don't know what is... It wasn't even close.
Defense sucked today, again..
-
Total choke kick
-
I don't care who they bring in next week, Barth needs to go.
-
Why is this POS kicker still on my team?
-
Barth sucks dick!
-
Trubisky did his job.
-
Looks like they will piss another one away. That will make them 0-4 in the division.
Then lose Floyd and maybe Fuller.
This team is cursed.
-
That should of been on the Lions or no call.
-
And just like that, thanks to crap defense, your two score lead is a four point deficit
-
Fangios gone too conservative this quarter
-
So they gave up that bullsh*t first down on 3rd and 15 and just like that it’s a three point game
-
Where's Fuller
-
This defense plays well and then can’t get off the field in third and long....
-
I am conflicted on being happy or sad.
-
That was a good drive....they mixed things up made up for the mistake.
Chicago. 7
Bears. 17
-
TD BEARS!
Way to answer back.
-
That was a rookie mistake. He hasn’t made that many of them.
-
LOL! Same old Bears.
Let's see if they can recover or they just go to shit now.
-
Why would you challenge that, it was one you might win...
-
Fox is a moron. That hit the ground.
-
Shaheen looking like a player....
-
10-0 Bears.
-
Trubisky made a beautiful pass to Shaheen down the seam on the first FG drive. Bears then force and recover a Stanford fumble at their 45...
-
Nice start.

WML,
Now that youve explained the rules ... let's get it awwn !
Almost.
There has to be a set date to see the outcome.
At the end of the SuperBowl.
How did every pick perform by then.
Everybody has to report in by March 13 , the start of the new NFL year ... no lying.
All of us will vote on which picks did the best in Seven rounds.
It's entirely subjective.
That's the Winner.
-
Well, they can I guess
-
I'm game! Sounds good. Would love to see everyone join in, and those that don't cant say what they woulda done!
-
That is the beauty of the game. You don't need to know more than the first round or two if that is as far as you want to go.
The Bears are on the clock you make your pick. If you only do the first round and you would picked LB Smith and the Bears to TE Jones and LB Smith makes it to the HOF as the best LB to ever live and TE Jones busts out after year one you can have your ITYS forever.
The agree or disagree **** is for the regular draft topic.
-
I don't really know the draft outside of the 1st round, I know Joki really follows the draft and college scene.
Maybe something as simple as Bears make choice - Posters either Agree/disagree - If disagree who would you take in that spot?
-
I am not really a draft person so I can focus on making sure the topic is clean of clutter. If they post an opinion that shouldn't be there I am just deleting it. Not moving it so they need to make sure they are in the correct topic.
-
This little game might bring more to the board during the draft.
-
All of that stuff should be in the draft topic anyway...at least for people who were posting during the draft...which was not very many if I recall correctly...
-
I am going to make the section now with rules in it so we won't forget. We can use it now for discussion of rules and I will delete all the rules discussion and questions on how it works before the draft.
-
I'll bet it is a major choice on this board ;D
Not everyone likes to admit they eat crow though...
-
Crow could be a delicasy for all we know
-
Love the idea! Get rid of revisionist history...
I'd be eating a ton of crow, but it is on my diet so all good
-
Also more then one player per round.
I would have been happy with Latamore - Jamal Lewis - Adorhee Jackson in the first.
Perhaps a set number of players per round could be instituted.
i .e.: You only get to pick 500 players per round. ;D
Or would that be too complicated and just stick to one per round ?
What if everybody picked QB's tho DA BEARS don't need one ?
See what they did and report back at the end of 2018 ?
JJ - The topic would only be used when the Bears are on the clock for everyone to record who they would pick from who is available. No speculations. Just make the pick when the Bears are on the clock. Then archive it and it can be compared a few years later if your pick outperforms who the Bears selected that was available. Then there wouldn't be any "hindsight is 20/20" people saying, "I would have picked Tom Brady in the third round. What the **** were the Bears thinking..."
Any speculations or who they should pick or who you think they will pick get deleted. The only posts remaining in the topic should be what YOUR selection would be when the Bears are on the clock. That means you would have to be posting to the board during the draft. Especially if they happen to trade up.
-
And as we get closer to game day with the Lions, the more I feel the Bears get back on track with a win
-
Sound like a topic needs to be created on draft day. Only for who is your pick not who should be drafted. Straight up my round one pick is...

The wide receiver merry go around is also a cluster.
Cut Deon Thompson, promote Gentry, Wheaton sits, cut Gentry, sign Inman, bench McBride, promote Bellamy...Wheaton sits.
Instead of blaming the receivers for running the wrong patterns - why not coach them up?
And if Wheaton is ready to go you get him out there - unless you think he was faking the appendectomy, broken finger and groin.
We have to have the slowest set of wideouts in the NFL - you would think that the threat of Wheaton and his speed would help the offense.
-
Nobody is advocating giving Cohen half the load. Give him 5 or 6 runs a game and maybe 2 or 3 passes.
What I don't understand is when Trubisky drops back why not let Cohen drift into the flat or over the middle as a safety net. If a linebacker covers him throw him the ball - if he's double covered then maybe someone else is open?
Loggains comments pretty much explain what I've been seeing on the field.
-
The more I read and hear, the more sad I become about our coaches. He11, they never give Cohen the ball on the end around either. He is always a decoy. Could he not also split out and take 15 touches on the outside, aka Josh Bellamy? Double cover him there, should make the defenses easier to read.
When the Bears had the two back set in with Cohen and Howard, it actually had me a little excited. Used to be Payton and Roland Harper in the backfield together, we can't figure out Cohen and Howard. That is really depressing to read.
-
The only thing Loggains needs to do is study up on how to fill out his unemployment application.
-
“I think the biggest thing, to be honest, that can help Tarik is the other guys start stepping up and start playing well around him and become more reliable receivers where maybe some of the ball distribution (improves) and attention goes away (from him) a little bit,” Loggains said.
No don't be honest...just lie to us.
You've got mediocre receivers...at best...and you have a guy on your team that will draw coverage away from those mediocre receivers which should help them become more productive. But instead you bench the guy that draws the coverage thereby making it more difficult for your mediocre receivers to get separation.
"Did you see that ? they doubled Tarik and Wright was wide-open. Ok, Tarik go take a seat on the bench"
I've said this for weeks - Loggains need to study up on how teams used Darrell Sproles cuz Loggains hasn't a clue how to use Cohen. And this stuff about Tarik making it harder on Trubisky to read expected defenses. Every week we hear Trubisky says "they're doing something we haven't seen". So what's the difference with Cohen in the lineup?
-
What would have been fun, and we should have done this already, is to pick the players we'd draft and compare them against what the Bears drafted and watch them and see how they work out. I'll bet a few of us outpick the Bears right off the bat....
Sound like a topic needs to be created on draft day. Only for who is your pick not who should be drafted. Straight up my round one pick is...
-
'Tis the season to cover your ass
-
Nice double talk by Loggains and Fox.
-
The Michael Lombardi interview (http://chicago.cbslocal.com/audio/670-the-score-interviews/#) (scroll down to 11/14) is worth a listen. What I got from it was that 1) McDaniels is probably not coming here. One lesson he took from Denver was that he did not have "his guys" in personnel and in order to do things the "Patriots Way" he would have to clean house, including scouts etc. That will not happen with Pace in charge. And 2) (duh) Teddy absolutely needs to get the f*ck out of anything related to football operations otherwise things will never change.
IMO, money will not be an issue with Harbaugh. Harbaugh currently has total power and control in Michigan and is loving it right now. If Harbaugh wanted the Bears job, I have no doubt that he is THE one guy that the McCaskeys will not hesitate to shovel above market money his way. The issue is how he gets along with Pace and an accountant on an ego trip.

Hoge 10 things:
LAKE FOREST, Ill. — It’s been a rough few days for John Fox and Bears offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains, who have struggled to explain many of the confusing coaching decisions that were made in Sunday’s 23-16 loss to the Green Bay Packers at Soldier Field.
But while the heat is increasing this week, most of the offensive issues have been present all season. With that in mind, this entire edition of “10 Bears Things” is devoted to 10 specific problems with the Bears’ offense:
1. Tarik Cohen’s playing time.
Fox and Loggains keep steering this conversation towards Cohen’s touches, but the real issue here is the amount he’s actually on the field. This is finally getting the attention it deserves this week, but it’s actually been an issue all season. Here are Cohen’s snap counts by game, with the percentage of offensive plays in parentheses:
ATL: 28/67 (42%)
TB: 40/64 (62%)
PIT: 28/65 (43%)
GB: 18/68 (26%)
MIN: 17/61 (28%)
BAL: 26/80 (32%)
CAR: 7/38 (18%)
NO: 18/67 (27%)
GB: 13/60 (22%)
When asked Wednesday about getting Cohen involved more, Fox started his answer by saying, “You’re looking at one game.” But as you can see, Cohen’s 13 snaps on Sunday actually fall in line with what he’s been getting since Week 4. This is about much more than one game.
So why is the Bears’ most explosive playmaker barely seeing the field? It’s the question of the week at Halas Hall and neither Fox or Loggains can adequately answer the question.
“I think if you just looked at the tape you see he is that explosive guy that everybody’s alluded to, including Dowell, but at this stage you put him in as wideout and they’re going to double him,” Fox said. “On the first (second) down last week, you know that was where Kendall Wright was singled up and he got a (second) down reception for a first down when they doubled Tarik over to the other side.”
So isn’t that a reason to have Cohen on the field more? I asked Fox that very question Wednesday and this was his answer:
“You know, you’ve got guys like Inman getting in, and you know there’s only one ball. I think our guys understand it’s a little bit how the game went last week. Last week is kind of, you know, when you isolate on just that one (game) I think he’s had plenty of touches and like I said he is our leading receiver with 29 catches on our team.”
Once again, this isn’t a one-game issue and Fox clearly didn’t have an answer to the actual question. He steered right back to the subject of “touches,” which has nothing to do with the fact that the Bears have exactly one player their roster commanding extra attention from opposing defenses and, more times than not, that player is on the bench.
But since Fox keeps bringing it up…
2. Tarik Cohen leads the team with 29 catches.
Which is worse, that a player who barely plays leads the team in catches or that the player who leads the team in catches barely plays?
Also, it’s Week 10 and we’re talking about 29 catches. That puts Cohen 79th in the NFL.
And it’s usually not good if a running back leads your team in catches, even if that running back lines up at receiver frequently. Matt Forte once led the Bears in catches… with 102. Cohen will be lucky to sniff 50, especially with the playing time he’s getting.
And if Fox is going to bring up Cohen’s catches as proof that he’s involved in the offense, then it’s only fair to point out that 16 of those catches came in the first two games. In the last five games, Cohen had exactly one reception in each game.
3. The real reason for Cohen’s lack of playing time might actually have to do with Mitch Trubisky.
Fox pointed out that Cohen is not part of the Bears’ two-minute package and he’s not the third-down back because they trust Benny Cunningham more in pass protection. That’s fair, although Cunningham did allow a sack Sunday and there’s no reason why Cohen can’t line up at receiver in those packages.
But Loggains provided this very interesting answer when asked about Cohen’s snap counts:
“Tarik draws as many different looks and different coverages as Mitchell does and people try to dictate and hide coverage to Mitchell. Well, every time Tarik is in the game, you don’t know what you’re going to get. New Orleans had their own separate package for him. Green Bay played him a completely different way than they played the rest of the time. Sometimes you go in anticipating one thing and when they do something they’ve never done before, now it’s make sure those two young players get on the same page. So sometimes you have to figure out what they’re doing and how they’re trying to dictate the game and they’re playing different personnel groupings to it.”
This answer is especially alarming. It seems like every week Loggains has talked about opposing defenses playing the Bears a different way than they’ve previously shown on film. Well, they’re obviously doing that for a reason. And now Loggains is saying that opposing defenses are specifically using new packages to stop Cohen, which is making it harder for their rookie quarterback to read the defenses. So instead of making in-game adjustments with Trubisky, they’d rather just take Cohen off the field.
This appears to be an admission that either Trubisky is struggling to read defenses or the offensive coordinator is struggling to make in-game adjustments. Or both.
Which leads us to the next problem…
4. Both Fox and Loggains admitted that opposing defenses are dictating who gets the ball and who’s on the field.
Give Chicago Tribune columnist David Haugh credit, because he followed up with a great question: “Why wouldn’t the offense dictate who the defense is going to play?”
“Well, because we look at the matchups, ‘OK, they have a Dime 32 package.’ Each week we might not feel great about Tarik in protection vs. Clay Matthews. Or there may be a certain blitz they run,” Loggains said. “This game is about matchups for us as well as them and that is the first thing we look at when we decide who is going to be in the game.”
I’m sorry, but that is a startling admission. Obviously offensive coordinators try to slow down key defensive players with certain personnel packages, but the offense is the one with the ball. The offense can control substitutions by going fast or going slow.
Every play starts the same way: The offense puts its personnel on the field, the defense identifies it, makes its own substitutions and then gets into a coverage. But it’s the offense that is in control because they determine when the ball is snapped and they can make adjustments at the line of scrimmage once they see what the defense is in.
The amazing thing is that Loggains continued his answer with this: “(Cohen) did help in the passing game because that was the best production we have had in the passing game and he was a part of that because he opened some other guys up because he was doubled.”
Facepalm. So, again, why wasn’t Cohen on the field more?
5. The sudden Josh Bellamy love on offense.
We know John Fox loves himself some Josh Bellamy, but it was bizarre to see Bellamy play 40 of 60 snaps on offense Sunday.
“We thought Bellamy gave us an element of speed that we needed that week,” Loggains said. “He’s always been a good blocker. Part of that thought process was we needed to stretch the field and he’s probably our fastest wide receiver. He came up big on the long touchdown pass. That was really why we did it.”
So it worked for one big play, but Bellamy still only caught two balls on seven targets. The truth is, Bellamy is fast and he actually does get open, but he doesn’t have great hands and he has a small catch radius for quarterbacks to throw to. That makes it easier to play zone coverage on him and limits the route tree. His touchdown catch came in man coverage when he used a small double-move and just ran right by Packers cornerback Davon House. That he can do. You just hope he comes down with the football, which he did on that play.
But Loggains also admitted that Bellamy didn’t run a great route at the end of the game.
“There was a ball to our sideline to Bellamy that I thought Josh could have run out of it. He kind of slowed up a little bit, and he should have been bursting out at 21 yards on the sideline,” Loggains said. “Those are things that right now we’re battling and we’ve got to get fixed and corrected … (Trubisky) is putting it right in the spot he should. If Bellamy runs out of it with a great urgency—put your head down, run out of it at that angle—then the ball is thrown right there. You guys saw it, Coach (Jon) Gruden talked about it the other day (on Monday Night Football), ‘the honey hole’ or ‘the turkey hole,’ whatever he referred to it as. That’s what we were attacking on that play.”
The coaches film does show that the ball landed in-bounds in a hole between three Packers’ defensive backs. Bellamy just wasn’t there yet. And that’s a great Turkey Hole reference by Loggains.
6. Markus Wheaton is in the dog house.
If we’ve learned anything over the past three seasons, it’s that Fox has a short fuse when it comes to guys with nagging injuries. Wheaton has seemingly had something since the start of training camp when he had an emergency appendectomy. Wheaton was active for only the fourth time Sunday but only played two snaps.
“I think most of it is that he hasn’t been practicing a lot,” Fox said. “You know, it’s a little like (Dontrelle) Inman, you just can’t throw people out there the minute they walk in the building, you know there’s a process to learning new language, you have to be able to communicate that language. And so in (Wheaton’s) case, he kind of knows the language, he just hasn’t been out there very much so now it’s just kind of getting re-acclimated back into football shape, back into game-ready shape.”
OK. Inman played 57 of 60 snaps, by the way, and has been on the team for less than three weeks — one of which was a bye. Wheaton has been on the team since March and was able to practice fully on Thursday and Friday last week, but still barely saw the field.
For what it’s worth, Wheaton believes he’s healthy and was frustrated with only getting two snaps against the Packers.
“It was extremely frustrating, but I am coming off of injury,” Wheaton said. “So I just have to keep pushing, man. Keep getting healthy. Show them that I am healthy and I’m sure that it will change.”
Wheaton was then asked if he feels like he’s healthy enough to play more.
“I think I’m ready to play, absolutely. I think I’m ready play. So we’ll see this week,” he said.
Earlier in the week Fox indicated that Wheaton has to practice at full speed. I asked him if he feels like he’s already practicing at full speed. His response:
“I think I had a great day today, yes.”
Perhaps there is more to it.
“For us, when you have a young quarterback, we need guys that we really know and understand out there and it’s not anything Markus has done or hasn’t done,” Loggains said. “We’ve got to get him healthy, get him practicing and his role and reps should grow as he gets more comfortable in that role and Mitchell gets more comfortable with him.”
7. Tre McBride is still Tre McBride.
With Bellamy suddenly getting 40 snaps on Sunday, it was fair to wonder why McBride only got seven snaps, especially after catching three passes for 92 yards in New Orleans.
“Sometimes statistically when you say he played the best game of his career, that may not match with what the coaches see on tape when balls aren’t going your way or how you’re getting separation vs. man coverage or other things,” Loggains said.
Fair enough. Asked and answered.
8. Too many negative runs.
The Bears lead the NFL in negative runs and part of that is because they’ve been so committed to the run (Loggains correctly pointed out that when Fox’s Panthers had two 1,000 yard rushers in 2009, they also led the league in negative runs), but it’s mostly due to inconsistent play up front.
“It’s part of the process of facing eight-man fronts,” Loggains said. “They’re really aggressive. You’ve got to make them pay with the passing game. It is a really difficult spot to put a quarterback in.”
Hey, it’s just me, but perhaps playing the guy who commands double teams would help both the run and pass game.
9. Kyle Long is really banged up.
He has a significantly injured hand to go along with the already well documented shoulder and ankle problems. No one should be questioning Long’s toughness because he has gutted out all season, but it was finally decided to limit him to emergency duty last week.
“Me and Fox never went to med school,” Long said. “I do know that time does help with things you’re dealing with so that’s the approach I’m taking right now.”
With Long out, Whitehair was forced to move to guard and Hroniss Grasu played center, where he was frequently bullrushed backward, shrinking the pocket on Trubisky.
Which brings us to the final problem…
10. This just isn’t an ideal situation to develop a rookie quarterback.
General manager Ryan Pace knew that going into the season, which is why he was hoping Mike Glennon’s experience would help buy time for Trubisky, but Pace also could have done more to help the wide receiver situation.
Perhaps exhausted with getting peppered with tough questions Wednesday, Loggains hinted at some of the personnel limitations, even admitting that Sunday was the first time in his three years in Chicago that one of his players was double-teamed.
“I think the biggest thing, to be honest, that can help Tarik is the other guys start stepping up and start playing well around him and become more reliable receivers where maybe some of the ball distribution (improves) and attention goes away (from him) a little bit,” Loggains said.
The offensive coordinator has a point, but there’s no more help on the way. Inman is the help. And there are things Loggains can do to better scheme his players open. Being afraid to play Cohen because it leads to tougher defenses for Trubisky to read is, well, playing scared. Trubisky seemed to read the double team on the second play of the game just fine, hitting Kendall Wright for 12 yards. He could have taken advantage of that more had Cohen actually been on the field. And why not line tight end Adam Shaheen up outside, even just once? Is that why you drafted “Baby Gronk”? The Bears did that stuff with Shaheen in OTAs and training camp, but it’s been non-existent in the regular season.
Fox and Loggains may be limited with their personnel, but they are limiting themselves with these game plans. Heck, they even admitted it by saying that opposing defenses are dictating their personnel.
But that says it all, doesn’t it?
-
What would have been fun, and we should have done this already, is to pick the players we'd draft and compare them against what the Bears drafted and watch them and see how they work out. I'll bet a few of us outpick the Bears right off the bat....
-
JJ, you've followed this team as long as I have....do you honestly think they're smart enough to do like NO did and get the right players?? HAVE they done this anytime recently?? Just check their draft history for that answer......
-
What has happened in NEW AWLEENS is worth noting ...
they snag a DB and RB in the draft and voila !
They go go from a pass happy no defense ... to ball control and defense.
Things can change that fast with the right draft picks on any team.
A lesson HALAS HALL can learn without high round draft experiments.
WR's ... gimme two !
OL ... gimme two !
LB ... gimme two !
Place them in whatever order you want in the draft.
But ... DO NOT go after the flavor of the month.
Look at where your TEAM is and why it is with the 2017 draft.
IMPACT players in 2018 and not experiments or we are DOOMED !
OR ...
impact players in 2018 that complement the 2017 draft ?
A smart GM would know that ... right ?
-
Want the best possible coach? Cowher.
-
Yeah which is why I'd like to see Fangio get the HC job.
-
Season isn't over and I don't believe the Bears are going to fire Fox before it is.
But my guess is that if Fox is fired that Fangio's name is at the top of the list. But I do remember years ago that when the Bears hired Ditka he was told that Buddy Ryan was going to be his DC.
-
If possible, I would like to keep Fangio. That being the case, an offensive minded coach would work... Even though I still believe Defense wins championships.
I still can't believe we couldn't beat a Rodgers-less GB team, at home.. WTF?
-
So was Trestman...
-
Patriots havent had a offensive minded head coach....
-
I think our next head coach needs to be an offensive minded one. I think Pace has done a good job, but dealt with completely overhauling a poor roster. Literally, what was he left with except Alshon? Most of the top teams right now have an offensive minded head coach and I think it is more difficult to win the other way around.
-
Dan Mullen for QB coach.
-
We need someone who can develop a young QB, like Harbough did with Krapernick. Just saying.
-
Besides the Patriot system wins championships. We even practiced against them and as a building block it would help us.
-
I would give McDaniels a second chance. Hell Belichick got a second chance and look how that turned out.
-
I would take McDaniel over Gruden. Gruden's been out too long..
-
Chucky! No to McDaniels. He is tied to the success of Brady, just like Faux with Manning.
-
HC list (http://sportsmockery.com/2017/11/the-updated-chicago-bears-2018-head-coaching-candidates-list/)
-
They said the stadium was only half-full - needs to be empty before things will change
-
The coach can be improved as well. And needs to be.
-
I am as mad as everyone else here after yesterday's loss to the hate Packers. And what really sucks is that 2 friggin' booth reviews in the Saints and Packers games - two plays that could have turned this season around.
This team has 2 OT wins and 3 losses where they had the ball at the end with a chance to win or tie.
Its not just the injuries - the Packers had injuries. Starting Qb out. Two halfbacks knocked out. Starting safety out. Starting right tackle. Starting TE out.
Is it the coach? Is it the talent?
The talent can be improved...
-
I want Harbaugh like I want a winning powerball ticket. Unfortunately the odds of both appear to be similar.
Ditto
-
If we are going to launch him, what better time than to give Fangio a 7 game test drive?
-
In years past, I'd have been mad after getting beat by a bad Packers team. But John Faux football era following the Trestman "Error" just leave me feeling numb. Unfortunately, Pace needs to grow a pair and fire that stumblebum now because the stench will stick to him now too. Christ the modern Bears are as bad at hiring coaches as they are at drafting and developing QBs...
Go Bears ! Just go away for now please......
-
As for Cohen, he's being used as a decoy. Howard has stone hands. So Cunningham gets the nod on passing downs because he's a better pass blocker.
Guess someone needs to show Loggains film of how teams used Darnell Sproles.
-
I think the odds of Hairball is like 1 trillion to 1. Dream all you want but not even a snowball in he11 has a better chance. He hasnt won anything at Michigan yet.
-
He's done a pretty decent job with less than studly WRs...
-
That would be boom or bust for sure.
-
How about Josh McDaniels?
Is he ready for another shot?
-
8-2 this year 28-8 all together.
He makes over 7 million a year now and has 4 more yrs on his contract.
It is a long shot but if there is any NFL job he wants it would be the Chicago.
-
How's he doing with Michigan
-
+1 .
-
I want Harbaugh like I want a winning powerball ticket. Unfortunately the odds of both appear to be similar.
-
I don't think anything is up with Cohen. I think the coaches for whatever reason have decided Cunningham is a better option.
I think they are wrong but I believe that is why he isn't being used.
-
I'd like to see Dan Mullen as the new QB coach.
-
I know, what's up with Cohen?
-
From what I see and read the general consensus is this game cost Fox his job. He may not be fired until the end of the season but he is a dead man walking.
So who do we want for the next HC of the Chicago Bears?
-
On the packers first TD how does 22 get away with holding the defensive lineman in the backfield trying to move lateral to the sideline? The RB ran right by him so I know the refs had to see it. Then past the line of scrimmage the WR pits the bears LB in a bear hug and he runs right by him too. If there ever was holding doesn't putting a defensive player in a full on hug count?
Seriously you even need to ask this question???? GB all the way, give me a break.
-
We lost the game on the LOS today....both sides.
Hundley hands off on first down and its 4 to 6 yards. Bears get penetration and the running back still gets 3 yards. So Hundley is facing 3rd and 3 or less and they have plays that get their guys open and Hundley has to hit receivers who are often wide open. I give him credit on the TD pass and the long near the end = both to Davonte Adams, but Hundley didn't beat us today.
Offensively, Bears couldn't block for sh*t for Howard. Lots of negative yards and 1 and 2 yard first down runs. Trubisky's pocket prescence at times s*cks, he just has no feel for pressure. And unlike the Bears the Packer stayed in their lanes and applied pressure. Our offensive line I thought did a decent job pass blocking, but there's often no where to go with the ball and Trubisky hasn't learned to get away from pressure or just throw it away.
And where the He!! is Cohen in the offense? One run - one catch.
-
just got done closing the pool for winter, sorry to see the Bear lose, ff thru the game, no defense, no ol, no coach, expected l. Fox just cashing paychecks. pace well, not so good. wr are painful to watch. I still think Mitch will be good. If he desn't get killed first. I take back all the bad things i said about the the Jer and lovie. I had no idea what bad was. Now I do. The bear are drowning in lake wannyville off the fox pier. Just
more incentive not to watch. Those fans got chumped today into watching a poor product. Happy Veterans day to all surviving vets, and to my dad and step dad who are not here. Dad was in the eto in ww2 and stepdad got all shot up in the south pacific in 1942 killing japs, yes japs.
Thanks them and people like them I've had a wonderful life and I'll never forget who made it happen. Unlike some people.
-
We are not Americas underdog small town hero's.
Packers are.
-
On the packers first TD how does 22 get away with holding the defensive lineman in the backfield trying to move lateral to the sideline? The RB ran right by him so I know the refs had to see it. I'm shocked at some of you surprised this happened. How long have you been following this team?!? Seriously?? I saw this coming a mile away! This team sucks and the coaching is horrific. This was entirely no surprise to me and neither should it have been for you if you've followed this team for any length of time!
-
Soldiers Field when playing G.B. under the Fox regime has officially been renamed :
DAMNATION ALLEY !!
-
Glad for the Veterans Day no NFL watch day. Glad I missed it.
-
The Bears D sucked ass!!
-
Hey beerbellyacher
How about the Packer Defense!!!
Enjoy
-
more bbbbbbbbbwwwAAAHHHHHHHHHHc
-
It’s really kind of nice to feel the door slam shut on anymore John Fox
-
If Rodgers played we would've gotten smoked
-
Harbaugh, Reich, Toub, Fangio, Payton, McDaniels, hot shot OC...
You only got one more shot Pace. Make it count.
Kinda cool on Gruden.
-
Otto the homo who has been gone for what 3 weeks now makes an appearance? Yeah go suck off a ref douche bag.
-
This loss falls squarely on the D
-
My first choice is Harbaugh.
-
Well, pretty close to my predicted 21-13 score.
And
BBBBAAAAAAHHJJJHHHHHH
-
Trubisky showed a lot more today. This was his best game. He played well enough to win.
-
Gruden knows the Xs and Os, I think we could do worse. And can we PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get someone who coaches who can at least get the refs to be impartial????
-
Anyone interested in Gruden if we can't get Harbaugh?
He has been away from coaching for awhile but still is involved enough in the game that I doubt it has passed him by.
-
Fox cant beat the Pack and all 3 years loses after the bye. Um, yeah John, you are out of a job. At least Lovie said beating the Pack was job 1. Who ever we replace Fox with, as long as he makes beating the Pack number one, I will support. Loggains can be an asst ball boy, not OC. How many times did we run on first down? So predictable. I seriously hope we lose the rest of the games we play this year, as I am totally disgusted with this team. I am hoping for a better draft pick, and hopefully the next head coach will know how to use them. Talk about undisciplined especially a game we SHOULD have won, AFTER the bye, no excuse. How many penalties. Just makes me sick.
-
I don’t want to hear or read another word about Fox coaching the rest of this year.
-
Lost all phases of the game.
-
Bleeeech.....puke
-
I am done with Fox.
To lose to a team at home after the bye week when you have superior talent is not acceptable.
This Packers team suckzazz with out Rodgers and the Bears just lost to them.
Terrible coaching.
And a fuckyou to the refs as well!
-
Honestly, I would give Fangio the last seven games...
-
Yes I don’t want to hear or read another word about maybe bringing Fox back for the last year of his deal...
-
Shit tackling and John Fox do the bears in today.
Trubisky played well when they let him. Maybe they'll take the hand cuffs off him next week.
-
Of course they are going to give up that huge completion...
-
I am 100% on board to fire FOX!
-
Feel free to tackle the Packers number three RB any time...
-
Kudos to Ryan Pace for bringing in Inman....
-
The offense does it's job finally and the D falls apart.
Good thing I take blood pressure medicine.
I want Fox fired for this.
To lose to this horrible Packers team after your bye week at home is inexcusable to me!
-
Beautiful throw from Trubisky
-
TD BEARS!
Finally!
-
STOP RUNNING EVERY DOWN!
Fuck Fox!
-
4th qtr and down by two scores. We run on first and second down.
WTF?
-
Packers putting a big, slow, slogging foot on the Bears’ throats...
-
Wrapping guys up that end up on the ground, sometimes spun back around on their backs. Nothing.
-
Every game and has never been called except the one game where they called it like 11 times. Then they stopped again.
-
Packers OL holding on every play...
-
Bears getting owned by a college offense now...
-
Thanks a lot Sowell you idiot!
-
GB 3 penalties for 25 yards
Chi 7 penalties for 73 yards
Not to mention the BS PI call against the Bears.
And the non PI call when the GB player tackled our receiver before the ball got there.
Packer O-line holds every play and is never called.
-
This is the game Fox can look back on when he’s let go the day after the season ends.
-
At least Inman LOOKS like a WR. But where is Wheaton and McBride?????
-
And we had two weeks to get ready for this game...
-
Goig to have to do something about packers stacking the line
-
So now Sitton is hurt? And Long isnt playing. We need an entire new OL. Grasu blows chunks, there isnt one single guy I would keep right now.
-
I am just so sick and tired of bending over and grabbing my ankles while the refs shaft us up the ahole. It just drives me insane. And the Pack never holds or does anything wrong. I really really thought it would even out with Rodgers out, but nope. I would like to see which state, um WI cough cough, all the ref crew lives in.
As far as Fox, he cant go soon enough for me.
-
This is fukking painful!
-
That was a brutal half of football. The Packers suck but the Bears keep making dunderhead mistakes.
The Bears should be winning this game easily.
-
Horrible use of the clock.
-
The discrepancy in the two PI calls is telling. Our guy breathes on the Packer WR and the flag flies. The Packer hangs all over our WR for five yards and the refs “let him play.” It’s a big advantage for Green Bay.
-
So far in the first half the refs have given the Pack FOUR.....calls, and Erin isnt even playing. So much for home field advantage or being fair. The Clay steroid Mathews piles on Trubisky on the last play. Unbeleiveable.
-
Yes. He tries to win with a style of play that requires mistake free football. On game days, it’s always sloppy play and tons of penalties. Never sharper than the other team....
-
I've finally finished laughing at Fox. What a joke.
-
The Packers are in the Bears heads.
-
No way the Bears should lose this game. But it sure looks like they are going to.
They can't stop stepping on their own dicks.
-
They should have known that could possibly be called!!!! Stupid Bears.
-
This is the kind of game that gets a coaching staff gone
-
His foot was out so no TD no wait it wasn't because he lost the ball after the foot touched so let's pretend that wasn't shown in the replay.
So just pick whatever you need to screw the Bears and help the Packers refs.
For FUCKSSAKE!!!!
-
The worst replay challenge in the history of the NFL. Nice one Fox
-
LOL!
You got to be fucking kidding me!
-
That was a TD!
-
Where is the flag?
He tackled him before the ball got there?
-
How can the D play so well for weeks against superior talent then shit the bed when the shit azz Packers come to town?
-
Our guys see those yellow uniforms and just play like crap
-
Of course they are always going to call the Bears DB’s against them
-
WTF? The refs are going all in for the Packers even with Rodgers on the sidelines.
Unfucking real!
-
I can’t believe this f*cking guy is still kicking. Anyway he made it
-
So sick of missed tackles and stupid penalties already!
FUCK!
-
Let’s go Bears! So tired of losing game after game to these guys.
-
Bears need to wear tear away jerseys on defense. That would be entertaining.
-
Only one wierd ref call? the usual Packer holding will be rampant, especially with a depleted Pack Oline.
-
Forgot to add that there will probably be at least one weird ref call that will affect the final score in some way.......
If the Bears want to reset the path the team has been devolving on since the NFC game vs the Packers that Chris Conte had the chance to be hero (missed INT) then the goat (missed tackle and bad coverage) this is it.........
I just don't think Faux has it in him to not screw this one up.....
That said... GO BEARS !
-
True, but eventually Trubisky will have to do a better job of finding receivers when they do get open. I think the Pack will over play the run and blitz frequently so there will be opportunities.
-
Unless Inman plays like a real nfl receiver there's noone to throw to.
-
This is not even a fair fight and it's about time it came our way. :D
It's always been G.B's way.
Not this one.
If we lose this we deserve the high round draft pick.
This is a Quarterback match up of two cherries.
-
I hear ya...but it will come down to the play of young QBs. Which one makes the most plays...or maybe which one makes the least bad plays.
-
This is the typical game where the Bears SHOULD win, but for a variety of reasons they fail. If this game is close the Bears probably lose, based on they just have had bad karma playing this team dating back to the Farve era. And Faux & Company always seem to play for the close game instead of going in for the kill.....
Whether its stupid penalties, bad clock management, or just simple mistakes that add up (e.g. false start on 1st a goal from the 1 yard line or a lining up offsides after stopping the other team on a 3rd down) this team seems to find ways to be infuriatingly inconsistent.
The D seems to be better so far, and the Offense worse than last year, while ST is still a wash- they are not giving up long returns but have a crap kicker.
There's hope for the future and some talent, but another season of John Faux football will be the death of me........
-
The Bears had a bye last week, so there wasn’t an urgent need to make a roster move involving tight end Zach Miller after he dislocated his knee in a Week Eight loss to the Saints.
They are back to work this week, though, and they’ve made the decision to add another tight end to the active roster ahead of their Week 10 matchup with the Packers. The team announced that they have promoted Ben Braunecker from the practice squad and placed Miller on injured reserve.
Braunecker signed with the Bears as an undrafted rookie last year and made two starts while appearing in 13 games. He caught four passes for 41 yards and joins Dion Sims, Adam Shaheen and Daniel Brown on the active roster in Chicago.
Miller had emergency surgery to repair arterial damage after his injury and was released from the hospital in New Orleans this week. He’s expected to have further surgery for ligament injuries as part of his recovery.
-
LOL
-
From PFT
McCarthy, though, hasn’t lost faith. He said the Packers are “going to Chicago to win.” “There’s more than one way to win in this league, and we’re fully capable of it,” McCarthy said.
Good. Fat f@ck can't help himself.
-
No if the Bears win he already has his reservations for the Sears Tower to practice his jumping skills. After all to him Hundley is the greatest Packer QB ever.
-
yeah, but like a bad penny, he always shows back up. He's over on the politcal board crowing about the dem victory in Va. The state voted for that evil harpy, you would think that would have been dem slamdunk. not so much.
-
He's been relegated to make point spread predictions on Bears' games.
My prediction: If the Bears can beat the Pack this weekend I predict Otto will go to a very dark place for a very long time.
-
Where has ol' Otto been?? Troll.
-
All Hundley does is throw screens and some sideline passes. McCarthy will not let him throw downfield. We stop the screens and we win easily.
The Packers D is so good that ....Detoilet punted............ZERO times.
Stop the screens ans we win.
Hundley will throw 3 picks if he is allowed to throw down field.
-
Not THAT concerned about Hundley and the Packer offense, though they still have good talent at HB and WR (is Bennett still out?).
Also, not overly concerned with the Packer's pass rush. The Bears will try to establish Howard but its going to come down to our WRs getting separation and Trubisky (or maybe Loggains) to fire it in there.
-
Plus Rogers in an escape artist.
-
If I recall (and I am trying not to), the Packers scored on their opening drive and then on our opening drive and on the 2nd play, Glennon fumbled on the 5 yard line. 14-0 in under 5 minutes...
-
Last time we faced the Packers they had BOTH their starting tackles out. Bears defense didn't really take advantage of that.
-
Every little bit helps:
Bryan Bulaga has a torn ACL
Posted by Josh Alper on November 7, 2017, 12:04 PM EST
Getty Images
The Packers expected bad news about right tackle Bryan Bulaga after Monday night’s knee injury and that’s just what they got on Tuesday.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that tests have confirmed that Bulaga tore his ACL during Green Bay’s loss to the Lions. Bulaga will miss the rest of the season as a result of the injury.
It’s a major blow to an offense that was already reeling after the loss of quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a broken collarbone a few weeks ago. Getting back on track offensively with Brett Hundley at the helm is going to be a difficult task and the Packers also have some defensive issues to sort out before they can resume thinking about any playoff hopes.
Justin McCray filled in for Bulaga on Monday and the team has designated Jason Spriggs for return from injured reserve.
-
The term : "adding insult to injury"
was LITERALLY applied to the Miller TD.
Best time to kick a man is when he can't get up. >:(
The review has to be moved out of N.Y.C. and to every game played.
Otherwise it's reviewed by some faceless , nameless clown.
Put the reviewer on every field where the game is played.
Say his name for the fans in the stands that are paying the coin ...
for his paycheck. Agree or disagree?
-
Plus he is 33, so getting up there. Too bad, I hope they can save his leg at least.
-
I posted the article in the other thread. I think Miller's career is over.
-
Headline this am "doctors fight to save Millers leg after injury". Jesus. Talk about giving it all up for the team.
-
TY Hilton is available but wants to go to a contender.
-
The question on why Fox didn't challenge the Miller TD is moot. What is he going to throw the flag for? NY overturned the TD. Throwing the flag would just letting them look again after they have already looked and overturned it. It was ruled a TD on the field and overturned on replay. All scoring plays are reviewed.
The fumble with an obvious Bears recovery on the sidelines when the player flipped in the air was a fumble no doubt. I don't know how they missed it on the field. He never regained control of that ball before his head and arm hit the ground.
-
Can't disagree with any of Dallas's post. Gentry is offering nothing at this time. This bye week gives our caches time to scout itself and see about how we get Cohen more involved again in the offense. I wish there was a way to pry Josh Gordon away from the Browns and have him reinstated. A real wide receiver talent or Pryor for that matter from the Redskins. McBride, Inman, Gentry?
-
McBride has potential but Gentry has got to go. Never ever ever gets any separation. I want Deon Thompson back.
And I'd play Daniel Brown ahead of Shaheen. Brown has some speed.
Bears have been unable to incorporate Cohen into the offense.
-
WE WAS ROBBED !!!
No if's and's or but's about Millers TD!
Fuuckin zebras!
-
No, I want to see the Bears win. I am not worried about Fox/Loggains. They are as good as gone.
Sunday's are much more fun when the Bears win.
-
Kendall Wright....2 catches.....on 8 attempted throws....he needs to go.
-
I could give a rats assss about the league appology or hearing Fox say it is a moral victory.
-
On the bright side, at least we'll get an apology from the league on Tuesday...
-
OL is a definite need, be it thru draft or FA...
-
Even Dean Blandino, the former head of the replays said it was a TD. WTF????
-
I think Inman at WR might help, at least he IS a WR. Who knows on the OL. TE, Miller who cant stay healthy is gone, so that isnt good. Once again we are now looking forward to next year, and the draft. Lets keep losing, but keep it close, want a higher draft pick. And I desperately want to get rid of Fox and Loggains. They are doing NOTHING to help/develop Trubisky.
-
Every single comment below the article says it was a TD including Saints and Packer fans. Why is this shit so hard for the refs?
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/10/29/bears-zach-miller-suffers-ugly-injury-on-overturned-touchdown-catch/
-
Our D is for real. Getting robbed by the pinstripes wouldn't have mattered today if we had a creative OC and at least 1 NFL quality wide receiver. Didn't help losing 60% of the O-line during the game. Trubisky has some balls, too bad he doesn't have much working around him.
-
That was a gut wrenching play for Miller on the non TD. The refs totally called this game for the Saints, ala Packers for sure. It makes me sick to my stomach that we were so close actually. Figure 10 pts, between the non TD, the missed FG and now I cant remember the other 3 pts, but I am drinking my sorrows away. The OL is swiss cheese now. Simms at TE is a joke. Shaheen cant get separation, that is why he doesnt get any targets, our WRs are pitiful. The GOOD news is that we wont lose again next week. And it seemed that the D, and Floyd watched a little bit of the pregame piece on them. I dont think Floyd made too many plays today. He is either everywhere or nowhere in my opinion.
-
3-5 was my best case scenario going into the bye. I feel like the team is making progress, just need to take that next step. The bye should help with that in terms of getting MT some reps and getting some guys a little more healthy.
-
According to the announcers the ball went right past McBride s head
-
yeah do not understand not going with Jordan Howard on 3rd down and 1. Should have been two runs in my book.
I would have run at least once. Just an annoying game all around today.
Bears should have won this game. They pretty much outplayed them all game long but the ball just did not bounce there way.
The Miller TD being called back was just a mind fuck!
Plus all of the injuries.
SMH
-
Well the run was getting stuffed.
-
I wish he hadn’t thrown the pic, but Trubiski showed a lot today
-
Loggains ends the game calling 27 passes in a row....
-
yeah do not understand not going with Jordan Howard on 3rd down and 1. Should have been two runs in my book.
-
You have the ball, two time outs ...two minutes left and third down and one and you abandon the run, your strength.
-
Got 'em right where we want 'em
-
They miss the Gin push the same way they miss a blatant obvious TD that Miller caught. This would be a different game had that been ruled correctly....
-
Amazing they're still in this game
-
Bears get the strip!
-
Amos! Bears ball!
-
How the fuck do they miss the push off by Ginn?
-
Been listening to game on radio. From what I can tell we should have won this game but we probably will not. Saw highlights/lowlights of the Miller catch....definitely was a TD.
-
Good drive. Bears fighting to the end
-
Finally the Bears get the turn over.
Unless of course the refs reverse it during the commercial time out.
-
Saints with every break in the game, aside from Long, Miller and Whitehair.
-
Off the upright and goes in.
The Saints must have put some voodoo curse on the Bears or something. This is getting ridiculous.
Nothing going right even when they make plays.
-
Now he challenges? Does he figure they owe him one?
-
Stupid challenge. It was a forward pass.
Bears just can catch break except for Millers leg.
-
Whitehair out too now. And Dowell i think they have our bread and butter left sidesweep dialed in
-
Need a turnover here....
-
Game over. Probably the season as well. Long out. Whitehair out. Miller gone for the year.
No O-line and no pass catchers. Not much you can do on offense.
-
Fantastic play calling. Bears...
-
It feels like they are playing the officials as well as the Saints.
-
How is that not holding?!!
-
Floyd is getting held damn near every play.
-
If Aaron Rodgers throws that ball they don’t make that call
-
WTF... Why hell did Fox not challenge!!!! What a fucking joke!!!
-
What???????
-
There is no way that was conclusive evidence to overturn the call on the field.
Even Blandino says it is a catch.
-
That is bullshit!
He did not lose control!
-
Injury to Miller was gruesome. Hate to see that.
-
That's a broken leg, kiddies....nasty...guess their invisible 2nd round draft pick will have to magically show up, right JJ?
-
Well Miller's out for the year now
-
Surprised he held on to the ball cause that has to be painful.
-
Miller is gone for the year. His knee went the wrong way.
-
TD BEARS!!!
-
I will blame this loss squarely on John Fox...another coach who plays not to lose.
-
Bears can't buy a break.
-
Once again, looks like we made no 2nd half adjustments on offense. Chess vs Checkers, sigh.
-
Its too bad Inmen isnt playing. Even with one day of practice he has to be better than Gentry, by alot. And where is Zach Miller all game???
-
Has John Fox been fired yet? What a shit show of a coach. We could be at least tied here.
-
I agree the kicker has to go.
Bears are getting out coached. But damn we need better receivers.
-
We need a new kicker after the bye. Connor Barf just isnt getting it done.
-
Yes...not a lot has gone right but they are still in the game
-
I am still not sure the fumble recovery wasnt a fumble. We got jobbed. And we keep stepping on our dicks, which doesnt help. Long with a club on his hand, sigh. It seems like Fox is playing checkers and Peyton is playing chess. I guess it was too much to hope for an upset. But lets see what happens in the second half.
-
Terrible kicker. If you are going to win next year there is a definite upgrade needed....
-
Getting gashed on the runs and screens, then killed on a long pass
-
That's going back to the Aints.
-
BISCUIT!!
-
Well, that was quick. Had 'em stopped twice and still gave up the TD due to screw-ups. Defense needs to play mistake-free for us to have a chance today.
-
7-0 Saints.
Two stupid mistakes on the defense.
-
What did we draft Shaheen for ?
A safe check down for MT right ?
Will we see him at the Superdome ?
If we draft him ... the fuucker outta show up.
-
Bears ran a lot of multiple TE formations so I guess our best WR didn't see a lot of action. He's been woefully underutilized as of late.
-
Did Kendall Wright play this week? I don't recall seeing him or hearing about him.
-
The only major injury I recall from the game was Roy Robertson-Harris. Anyone got any info on him?
Sure could use a healthy Wheaton this Sunday too.
-
You would think that if there was a game that the Bears would take the wraps off Trubisky and the offense it's this weekend against the Saints in their dome. This game won't be on slippery Soldier Field so it could be a tough challenge for our defense.
But then again, Fox and Loggains could continue with their conservative approach on offense and try to minimize the amount of possessions for Brees.
-
The throw was a bit short, and I wondered if he put it there to avoid Cohen being run into the crossing safety. From replay that didn't appear to be the case, but still the throw found its mark.
-
Yep, little under thrown..
-
I really like Mitch, but that throw to Tarik was short and had he put it in front of him it would have been a TD.
-
How about Julius Peppers?
2 huge stops on the goal line - then didn't see him again?
-
Gentry may have been called for the plenty, but I think it was McBride who lined up wrong.
Both guys lined up wide right. One of them has to step off the LOS. Usually, not always, the inside guy (slot or flanker) lines up off the LOS and the split end is on the LOS.
But on this play both lined up on the LOS.
-
I think it was Gentry that lined up wrong.
-
Random thoughts on the game...
Interior offensive line got pushed around by the the Panther DTs. Really messed up both the running and passing game.
Defenses are staying in their pass rush lanes and making Trubisky throw out of the pocket - if no gets open he eventually gets sacked. Loggains needs to sprinkle in a few sprint/roll outs. First game he was running all over the place now he's a statue.
It didn't cost us the game but the WR McBride has to know where to line up if he's in the slot. Took away a nice gain after the Trevathian interception. Come on, it's not that hard - my high school kid knows where to line up.
What's that line Rosenbloom uses? "Akeem Hicks your table is ready"
-
The Bears won. Settle down.
Anyone know what happened to Jiggens? He hasn't been on the Bears post or pre game shows lately. Did he get let go or is it his health?
-
LOL, I don't give enough of a shit about you to ban you, bandwagon...
-
Bandwagon...
-
Mitch will throw next Sunday. The Bears will have no choice.
-
The O for sure sputtered today. As mentioned, Panthers D is top 5 (I think that's right). I think Trubisky has done well, so far...
-
Hope this is on NFL network. Missed the game
-
Also Cohen dropped two passes that should have been caught.
-
Remember the Panthers D is outstanding. I am fine, at this point, not turning the ball over.........Jay Cutler. Mitch can throw and WILL one day....but is still learning.....just think about the long pass to Cohen - things to come.
-
I think Trevethan/Jones are a good combo on ILB.
-
I mentioned the blocked FG.
Our DB's played fantastic. Even when Fuller went out for a bit his replacement played well.
Kwiatkowski was dressed on the sidelines. They started Jones anyway and you are correct he had a real nice game.
Keep in mind the Panthers are a top ten defense. They were ranked 6th but probably top 5 now.
Let's see how the offense does against the Saints before we panic.
-
The missed field goal was blocked, did the local comentators not point that out on the replay?
Where did these DB's come from, they played lights out second week in a row.
Christian Jones had his best game as a pro. In the past he would get lost and miss a lot of plays.
Kwiatkowski better not put on his helmet just yet.
Interesting how Fangio had the front four stay in their lanes the second half so they wouldn't bleed to death on Cam Newton runs. They didn't get so much pressure but he blitzed more and it worked out well.
People will say Trubisky didn't play well. However he waited for receivers to get open then took the sack when he had to.
Yeah maybe he could have thrown the ball away more, or the defense would have knocked the ball out of his hand for a turnover, who knows.
In the end no turnovers is a big part of what won the game.
That said, Loggains has to find some passing game out of all this. Think the Packers won't be doing everything to shut down Howard?
I'm still amazed the defense had enough left in the tank to make those last stops.
I'm really not as high as some of you on Ron Rivera.
-
Something else I really liked was the Kyle Fuller tackle on Newton when he upended him, and then got up jawing at him. Probably saying keep targeting me MF. I love it.
-
I am excited by how our D played today. My question is was it the play calling on O or WTF was going on. How many times was Trubisky sacked? Did they tell him not to throw it out of bounds? That missed field goal was because of a 9 yard sack. Stupid. I think Loggains/Fox need to remove head from anus and let the kid play, or at least give him a freakin chance.
-
A week after allowing two return TD’s, special teams were solid save for the missed FG
-
Bears win!
17-3.
The defense gets an A+.
Special teams gets a B due to the blocked field goal. They were good all day other then that.
The offense gets a D-. At least they did not turn the ball over.
-
Holding the Panthers to 3 points. Fantastic D today.
-
This defense is unbelievable today!
Damn Hicks is down.
-
I guess at least they ran some time off. But damn.
Our offense is dreadful.
-
That delay was a good penalty to take. Panthers were coming with a blitz and Bears weren't ready.
-
Two consecutive penalties. Going backwards.
And out off field goal range.
-
Trevaithan INT!!
Bears DB’s getting the benefit of the doubt in this game....we’ve all seen these close pass defenses called pass interference. The real test will be when playing the Packers.
-
D picks it again!
DA BEARS!
-
They are so afraid of a turnover....
-
And another three and out. Pathetic.
-
It is also why their D is so fresh and still stuffing the run.
-
37 minutes TOP for the Panthers already.
Our O needs a long drive here even if they get no points. Just take time off the clock and let the D catch their breath.
-
Our guys on D have to be gassed...
-
Three and out and lost yards again.
Lucky bounce on the punt.
-
And you cant pass because that probably means interceptions. No sense crying about a lack of passing offense if you want wins. We just don't have the receivers for a passing offense. Just be happy with what you have.
-
You won't win many nfl games when the defense know s you will run.
-
D has played a hell of a game but they are gassed. The offense needs to do something.
-
Injury time out just the right time
-
Defense on the field way too long. Bears will pay the price.
-
Another three and out.
-
D finally stops them.
O has to have a long drive to give the D some rest.
-
Nice punt and good coverage.
-
More shitty offense...
-
Eddie Jackson two TDs are you kidding me. I was surprised Cohen didnt get in on the long pass. We need to get something, anything going on O. Still pretty darned exciting so far.
-
Read that Fuller is out with an arm injury and Robertson-Harris left with a hammy. Hope they are okay.
Nice clock management Carolina, Benjamin
-
17-3 Bears at the half. I will take it.
Bears get the ball to start second half they need to put together a long drive because the D is going to be gassed soon. They have been on the field all day.
-
I'll agree with the FG.
TOO many times they get stuffed then lose by 3.
-
Trubisky is short. I think Howard was in earlier though.
Kick the FG or go for it?
-
Nice throw and catch. Now punch it in!
-
You can run the ball...you have an emerging defense. Your QB will have almost a year under his belt. Next year is looking good
-
I know it’s early, but I figured the D would take a step back after getting national accolades this past week. Happy to be wrong....
-
Another Bears TD from the defense!!!!
-
TD BEARS!!!
Who needs an offense?
-
Bears D!!!!
-
TD BEARS!!!
This defense is finally making big plays. Two weeks in a row now.
-
BEARS won
-
Couldn't believe Kyle Long tries to head but a Raven right in front of a referee and no flag thrown.
Said the same thing! Was like WTH is Long thinking?!? Idiot did it RIGHT in front of the ref, and no flag.
-
We're only dealing with 6 games but it appears to me Glennon enjoyed a much cleaner pocket than Trubisky has had so far. Maybe it's the quality of the pass rush of Vikings and Ravens compared to the first 4 teams.
But when Trubisky drops back he's constantly getting pressure.
Also, they really over used that bootleg play yesterday.
-
It kind of seemed like they had Trubisky in ultra conservative mode. Like dont scramble, dont improvise, dont complete any passes, just hand off the ball. Let the kid make his mistakes, but let him make some plays also. Like that pass to Wright in OT.
-
The last throw that Trubiskey made was really a nice quarterback play. Immediate pressure, he steps up, slides right and throws a great ball to Wright. He kept his eyes downfield and no signs of panic.
I also think you have to hand it to him on a couple of errant Whitehair snaps. Think if Glennon had been back there on that one near the goal line. That would have been at least 2 points, likely a td Ravens.
-
Aside from Kendall Wright - the slot guy. All other starting wide receivers were targeted one time (Gentry). McBride never had a pass thrown his way.
Trubisky went from being skittish in the pocket vs Minnesota to statue-like (like Glennon and Cutler) vs the Ravens. It's hard to see the receivers from our view but it appeared that there were guys open on a few of the plays but Trubisky appears at times to hold the ball until he sees separation.
Loggains has got to get more creative with our WR corp - quicker passes (slants/outs) - maybe more of the sidewise type passes that the Packers employ.
-
I noticed also that they kept throwing at Fuller. It may have had more to do with Flacco throwing more to the right period. and don't they typically play your better corner on the left side of the defense, right side to the QB?
Would love to see what Trubiskey looks like with competent wide receivers. I do give credit to the coaches for trying Gentry and McBride, some receivers that Trubiskey has been working with. Didn't work out though. Free Josh Gordon and make a trade to Cleveland.
-
I wonder why there's so much more activity on this board when they lose.
It's pretty amazing they won considering they gave up two special teams TD's.
That's inexcusable.
Couldn't believe Kyle Long tries to head but a Raven right in front of a referee and no flag thrown.
Are there any better wide receivers out their unemployed, please?? Trubisky just couldn't find anybody open.
How many passes were completed to WR's, any?
The run game was interesting, seems like they lost yards half the time but kept at it and won the game with it.
-
Actually, the media kept reporting that Fangio would cut him because Fuller didn't come back from his 2016 knee injury during the season. An injury that the highly regarded Bears medical/training staff stated that Fuller had completely recovered from.
I did find it interesting that the Ravens rarely threw at Amukamora.
You can see the difference in play of the defense when it has solid cover guys in the secondary. No QB has really abused our secondary this year, well, other than Rodgers, but we won't be seeing him again this year.
-
Kyle Fuller playing like a first rounder.
Who wanted to cut him?????
No one on this board, what are you saying?! ;)
Although Brad Biggs had an article every week predicting Fuller's release. Where would we be without him? Fuller, not Biggs...
-

-
Exciting game to watch. Bears finally break a ten game away losing streak. Pretty incredible, although they tried to give this one away they finally pulled it off.
And too dang bad about Erin and the ladies in GB, huh. Not feeling even a tiny bit of sadness for those suckers. They've had such unbelievable, incredible luck at QB for a few decades now that it's about dang time, honestly, they feel what other teams feel like at QB. It's about time...
-
It goes to show you just how difficult it is to even get a single win in the NFL. The Bears fought and scratched and clawed through self-inflicted adversity and managed to beat a terrible Ravens squad.
-
He did screw the pooch jumping offsides on fourth down.
I think Balt. got the tying TD after that.
-
Floyd drew a hold as well. There were two other pretty clear holds against him that didnt get called as well.
-
Floyd made a number of good plays.
He tipped a third down pass, he forced Flacco out of the pocket on a number of plays and was pretty active in the backfield.
-
In spite of stepping on our dicks we won. And where was Floyd today? Totally invisible on a day when the other D players showed up. Dude needs to string several GOOD games together.
-
Bears Win!!!
Geesh!
-
C'mon Barth. Got to make this.
-
HOWARD!
-
Three and out then a shanked punt.
They absolutely gave this game away.
-
Trying real hard to stay in Cleveland's sights for that #1. Good for them!
-
Comedy of errors.
Howard you have to stay in bound you dumb fuck!
-
HAHA and of course they give up the two point conversion.
LOL!
Unreal.
-
LOL!
Only the Bears...
-
There have been several bright spots on defense.
But yes props to Fuller. He had a hell of a game today.
-
Fuller has looked like an pro-bowler today.
-
AMOS!!!
TD BEARS!
-
Looks like they are going to find a way to piss this game away.
Getting real fucking old!
-
I never root for injuries...but I sure as hell don't feel sorry for them.
-
Wow rogers may be out for t qwhe year
-
1 step forward 2 steps back...
-
Simms can not block Suggs.
-
WTF?
Are you fucking kidding me?
A complete melt down!
-
Only the Bears...
-
Yeah but he was still running after the touch
-
Bellamy touched him. Another total BS call by the refs!
-
TD Bears!!
-
Way to go you bunch of scrubs!
-
TD BEARS!!!!
Trubisky to Simms.
-
Hicks and Goldman are eating them up!
-
If Erin Rodgers cant come back for the Pack for any length of time, it wouldnt make me sad one bit. And the nice classy guy was swearing at Barr. Booo hooo Erin. lol
-
That penalty on Jones was total bs. Fuller is playing lights out today. And it is nice to see the trick plays coming out, but how about some good regular plays....still happy to be winning right now.
-
Heck of a defensive stand after the BS penalty.
-
Flacco looks spaced out....
-
Cohen passes to Miller. LOL!
10-0 Bears.
Finally winning the turn over battle.
-
TD BEARS!!!
-
Man, Bears starting two mediocre wide outs in their first NFL start.
What's Trubisky expected to do?
-
Callahan!
-
Kyle Fuller playing like a first rounder.
Who wanted to cut him?????
-
3-0 Bears.
Trubisky missing on a few deep balls but his running and the Ravens penalties is the difference right now.
-
Hicks, Howard is on cusp, Whitehair if they leave him in one spot... there's a few, but we need more talent for sure.
I was the fool last year that said Hicks was just a guy. He has been a force.
-
I'd prob be ok with Gruden. Need someone with some fire in the belly. Bears football isn't about flowers and kittens...at least it shouldn't be...it should be full speed ferocity on display, a meanness, toughness, fearlessness. It's been a long loooooong time since seeing that in Chicago. This team is not anything like it should be or where it should be. Needs some toughness......and TALENT....big time. Who's the pro bowlers so far? Maybe MAYBE Floyd...that's about it..... still this many years into rebuilding and haven't improved talent wise much....
-
Fangio still needs better players. Concerns me that if we fire Fox what happens with the D that we've been migrating to a 3-4... Some have said make Fangio the head coach, I'm against that..
-
No doubt Trubisky's int at the end cost the Bears the game. But, I think the kid shows a lot of promise. Give him a couple of receivers next season and you'll see a big difference. We don't suck as bad as we did a few years ago. Does Mel Tucker ring a bell? Unfortunately this team had gotten old, then had to endure the Trestman/Emery years. How would Greg Olsen be about now with Trubisky. Emery was more of an idiot than Trestman.
-
McMahon was not good his rookie year.
In their rookie years, I remember Elway and Aikman were busts according to their fan bases.
The new expectation is to have immediate success like Wilson, Wentz and Prescott.
-
Back in the early 80s the Bears rookie QB Jim McMahon threw an interception pr two in his first NFL game. He pretty much made the same comment about the speed of the game, especially in regard to NFL DBs.
-
It looks like Trubisky like any rookie needs to get accustomed to the speed of the game.
Linemen are bigger stronger and get to the QB faster; linebackers fill holes and get on the QB quicker; DB's are bigger and faster.
REceivers who were open in college really aren't in the NFL.
I'll bet Trubisky thought Hunter Smith couldn't get to that pass he threw to Zack Miller. Hopefully he sees that next time and throws it away, especially on first down.
-
Yes, agreed Trubisky had 13 starts which might have scared some teams, not all, from drafting him first round. But your suggestion to have Glennon start in 3 or 4 more games while Trubisky watches doesn't make sense. The Bears gave Trubisky 4 games plus the preseason to experience life in the NFL to learn the routines, game planning, preparation, etc.
He'll be making the same mistakes in 2018 that he could be making in 2017 if he doesn't play now.
-
SteveDallasbear
I will be here. Also, good points on the youth of Trubisky, but his limited amount of starts at the collegiate level has to be a concern. Sid Luckman is still the best bear QB ever...and he went both ways.
As long as Mike McCarthy has Aaron Rogers Packer dominance will continue. Won't last forever, but the bear led the series from 1932 until this year. Seems that the Pack has to stay on top for a decade or so.
-
I hear ya! Well, I hope "we're" here..
-
As much as all look to Trubisky to be the savior, he looked way to quick to run and all of just 13 starts at the collegiate level.
Expected with first start against a very good defense. He will settle down as he builds trust with his O-line and familiarity with his receivers.
Limited playbook and predictable plays will not be good as film is gathered on him and this version of the bears.
It's his first NFL start. And we saw plays we never saw with Glennon. They will add more plays as he gains experience.
I would not rule out a return to Glennon is 3-4 weeks to settle/save him.
You learn by playing and making adjustments not by holding a clipboard.
You know the Cardinals beat down the Cubs for years...decades. But the Bears will dominate the Pack, not this year, maybe not next year, but its coming. And I will be here when it happens....will you?
-

You give a rookie a chance. Also the fumble was on Leno. He didn't block his guy at all.
Plus Trubisky made more accurate throws and showed more talent in that one game then Glennon had in any of his starts.
If you play a rookie QB you are going to have mistakes. Let him learn this year the season is already lost.
-
Can you imagine the uproar on this board if it had been Glennon that fumbled near his own end zone and later tossed an interception that ended the Bear chances?
-
We definitely need 2 WRs and an upgrade at TE, unless they let Shaheen do something. And if they dont, we wasted a 2nd round pick.
I could tell Greg Olsen was a player right away in preseason and he was picked not too many picks before Shaheen's spot. Shaheen is playing but he's not being targeted. I'll give him a year to adapt to the NFL from his low level of competition in college, but I haven't been impressed so far.
But WR is a definite need in the offseason. So is OLB. Maybe CB with Fuller and Amukamora being free agents.
-
I only watched part of the first half but this Trubisky kid looks like the real deal. He didn't seem like the game was to big for him with the few starts he had at UNC. He also throws really well on the run. If he had Alshon Jeffrey and Brandon Marshall to throw to, we might have something.
I try not to think about what the Bears record would be with Alshon Jeffery in the lineup. Brandon Marshall is pretty much hitting the end of his career.
Trubisky is the opposite of Cutler in the pocket. Cutler would stand in there until his receiver came open. Trubisky seems to bail out once he feels pressure and always to the right. We'll see how his pocket presence develops as the season goes on.
-
Interesting when NFLN interviewed a Vikings player after thae game he alluded to the team having to overcome the officiating against the Vikings.
All a matter of perspective
-
Fox claims the refs did not have a football on the field. I am not buying it.
-

-
The Wheaton hold killed us.
-
What is he really thinking?
My senile head coach and dwarf posing as an offensive coordinator are dumbasses and my worthless receivers and tight ends (talking to you $ims) can't catch a f*cking cold.
-
I like this kid, a lot:
#Bears WR Kendall Wright said that Mitch Trubisky told everyone after the game that the loss was on him.
-
The biggest gaff of the night was calling the timeout before the clock ran out, followed by sending the punt team out, followed by sending the offense back out followed by a delay of game penalty. Who gets called for a delay of game following a timeout. Can't wait to hear Fox's explanation on this
-
So many mistakes and phantom penalties. That was a good Viking defense we played and I thought Trubiskey showed well for his first start
-
1-4 and longest pass play of the year belongs to the punter.
-
You just kind of knew that while the Bears dominated early on they just couldn't find the end zone and that that would bite them later on. You got to take advantage of that field position...and the Bears kept shooting themselves in the foot.
I kept hoping that the Vikes would keep Bradford in the game. But even though Keenum gave them a lift I thought the defense played their butts off. Defense seems to lose a starter a week.
Trubisky had his ups and downs...unfortunately the downs occurred mostly in the 2nd half.
-
Why cant we put John Fox on IR????
-
The Oline is banged up and so is the linebackers and defensive backs. Pretty soon the whole team will be on IR. Wonderful.
-
The should definitely move Tanner Gentry back up off the PS. Bellamy and Thompson didnt even catch a pass, Wheaton had his only pass denied. Wright was the only guy who caught any balls. And why isnt Loggains throwing to Shaheen, the big guy who can catch? I am ready for Fox to get canned, and lets get all new coaches, we cant do any worse than what we have.
-
It was a great move for Trubisky to tell Miller in the endzone for the TD pass, but his INT to Miller, not so much. Gruden said we are -9 on turnovers. Brutal. And I dont think Jones knows how to call the D plays. Cursed, just cursed. And all of a sudden Cohen cant juke or cut or move? WTH??? Play Trubisky, let him take his lumps, lets keep losing, and lets start the 2018 draft thread. Sigh.
-
I wanted hope for the future. I have it.
I thought Trubisky played really well. Even his interception was a well thrown ball that was not a huge risk. It was a great play and awareness by the defender.
Our receivers though are just terrible.
-
Yuck. injuries, injuries and more injuries.
-
Well at least the Cubbies won!
-
That was like the 5th one tonight alone.
-
Sick and tired of these damn phantom fucking calls going against the Bears week after week, and year after fucking year!! >:( >:( >:(
-
How come our opponent can snap the ball super quick but when the bears do it they are stopped by the refs?
-
floyds tearing it up
-
That conversion though...
-
I loved Trubisky giving the thumb to Miller to go the other way. That is heads up for a rookie.
two point conversion was sweet as well.
-
GO BEARS!!!
-
TIE GAME!!!!
-
ugh.
-
And now Long goes down too
-
long gone.
-
Why is it that the refs stop our offense when we go quick but not the other team?
Now Long is down. For fucks sake!
-
I can see that in game 15. game 5?
-
No, Kwiatkowsky and Trevathan aren't fooled by screens.
-
It is always as if the opponent is playing chess while the Bears play checkers.
-
Same old bad news Bears... the rout is on
-
You just don't have anyone left out there that can play...
-
I wonder if Sportster was off doing something else or if he caught that.
-
Sporty we just need you to play the JBN.
-
LOL! I love it!
-
TD BEARS!!!!
-
Done watching this....have seen too many times how this plays out and it's not pretty and I'm tired of watching losses, got better things to do....
-
of course.
-
These receivers are fucking terrible!
-
Mike Glennon looks comfortable on the sidelines...
-
The Vikings' backup QB comes in and carves the Bears defense up like a Thanksgiving turkey.
-
The injuries year after year are just unreal. The back up to the back up goes out.
-
Timu is lost now...
-
Bears folding like a cheap tent....
-
why BOTH those guys just stand there?
-
ok,ok,ok. ha,ha, baseball score. and of course chicago is losing. now what? Why throw right now? Wright can catch but the others? run, run, run.
-
The Vikings get the ball first. Let's hope our D can hold or better yet get a turn over.
-
All right let's get out there and get some runs!
-
Of course it is.
Disney owns Star Wars and ESPN.
-
So...why is it they're debuting the Star Wars trailer on Monday Night football? Is it because viewership is down and they're trying to boost it? Very strange to be doing this....
-
Our OL needs help, along with WRs and get rid of Simms the TE. Then the O will be good, maybe. Then again we will be still playing against the refs. Please tell me how that hit on Wheaton was not a penalty???? WTF they picked up the damnn flag....
-
Isn't it great they signed Leno to the new contract
-
Well, so far Bears are on track to win a game this season.....don't see them winning this one. Trubisky needs help...
-
Leno sucks ass!
-
FLOYD!!!
-
Otto, No one says he is great.
He looks good for a rookie in his first start especially for the receivers he has. He has a long way to go.
Don't you have a Rodgers shrine you need to go rub?
His crotch probably looks like Lincoln's nose...
-
I think that you guys should temper the Trubitsky is great talk until he has more than 13 starts. Which would be more than he did in college.
-
Bradford has missed games with a bad knee and looks tentative.
Cohen can have a little Hester if he gets his timing down on the speed of kick coverage
-
2-0 bears. all I need is some snow and I'm in my glory.
-
DEFENSE!!!
-
wouldn't be surprised to see the bear get scored on this time
-
the kid is a keeper, but wtf with the wr's? D is playing lightsout so far.
-
Trubisky's accuracy is encouraging.
Zimmer's mind games with these f'n refs is working with the bullsh!t calls
But the Bears are really shooting themselves in the foot with the other penalties.
-
Damn it! The Bears can't seem to break the 40.
-
Have they called anything against the Vikings yet?
That was a terrible call also!
-
Great throw by Trubisky there.
-
VERY impressed with Trubisky so far. Hope he doesn't get hurt or some crazy crap. TD! AND...a flag...
-
Bullshit call!
-
TD Howard!
Holding fuck!
-
Offensive line run blocking sucks...royally sucks....gotta pick it up
-
Fox needs to go. Anybody not impressed with Trubisky and his ball placement and mobility isnt watching the game. So much to have faith in as the team around him gets better....
-
Vikings overplay the run game. Make them pay what have they to lose?
-
Once Trubisky puts it all together the sky is the limit.
He has all the physical skills. Love the mobility and ability to throw accurately on the run.
The defense is playing lights out.
Everyone is stepping up.
-
its probably just me, I know, but the team seems a bit more pumped. Its nice to see the o moving forward.
-
Floyd kept after it!
Now let's get the O going!
-
Vikings are too quick a D to do this stupid back yard crap. Go downfield! Dancing around in the backfield is stupid...gotta go north/south with this D.
-
SAFETY!!!!!
-
Both times Fox took to long to decide.
-
It wasn't Trubisky's mistake. It was a Fox mistake.
-
Should Fox scream at the rookie for a mistake in his second posession?
-
This Faux led team is a mess. He's gotta go folks....what a joke. Delay of game after a needless TO??? Stupid...
-
Apparently the head coach of the Chicago Bears thinks that a delay of game after a timeout is hilarious. Golden parachute.

-
Loggains looks to be putting the handcuffs on Trubisky already. If so he's wasting momentum
-
No excuse for that. You wasted a time out at the very least.
-
Fox is an idiot!
Make up your damn mind!
-
Simms drop then the holding by Whitehair kill that drive.
Good start. Trubisky looks real good so far.
Hopefully the D came to play.
-
Nice start.
Until Simms drops it.
-
ohGodohGodohGodohGodohGod, Cmon Kid! lite em up!
-
all I ask right now is that he doesn't trip and bust a knee coming out the tunnel
-
let 'em prattle. Oddly silent about harvey tho, aren't they?
-
Alright let's start the Trubisky era!
Let's hope he can stay healthy and grow into a franchise QB for the Bears for many years to come.
For tonight just don't get killed and give us some hope for the future.
-
I flip on Monday night countdown thinking they will be talking about the game. Nope!
Guys I just want to hear you talk about football not politics. SMDH!
-
I think he had a sack (or two) during preseason. Not a whole lot of options at OLB right now.
-
Irving is up.
-
Random thoughts on the game:
It's only one game - whether Trubisky does well or stinks up the joint.
Look for the Vikings to crowd the line and try to take away the run and force Trubisky to go to his receivers who will be challenged by a very good Viking secondary. Big matchup is Leno against RDE Griffin. And I expect a lot of blitzes. Maybe we'll see more production out of the TE spot?
With my favorite pass rusher Willie Young out - we need to see 94 have a big game. Did the Bears bring up Isaiah Irving from the PS? Acho isn't much of a rusher, maybe they go more 4-3 with Hicks play some DE.
It will be interesting to see if Trubisky breaks off a long run - he's faster than you think.
-
Gin Blossoms are a reference to the ruptured facial and nose blood vessels due to heavy booze consumption. Looks that way to me on tv.
-
Romo did a pretty good job. His knowledge at QB brought some insightful analysis. Didn't care for Romo on the Boys but I wish he was our QB right now!
-
He turned the football over FOUR times. FOUR. THAT"S a starting quarterback in the NFL? If your NOT going to start the kid, put in Sanchez. Didn't 21 pts come from turnovers? It all starts and stops
at that position. That was the worst game I've ever seen the Bears play. Even worse than the Stenstrom disaster in Minny where he got sat on. Fox should simply quit. I think the Bears at least have
the most gin blossomed head coach in the nfl, and that's saying something. And the lb is going to sit . you watch. damn near tore his head off. in this day and age where you can see the nose hairs of
the players on tv, that was just stupid.
Most gin blossomed head coach? I don't know the expression, what does that mean?
-
One interesting thing Romo brought up last night was that the offense mirrored what Atlanta was doing last year. He said Glennon was not suited well for it and felt Trubisky would do much better because of his mobility. It did seem the offense moved so much better in the preseason. It might just be possible that Trubisky could come in and save the season. Honestly until he plays we just do not know. They have to play him in my opinion.
-
But during films they have good examples for the youngster of what NOT to do...
-
You guys are all wrong.
Yeah, our WRs are talent-wise 3s, but on the 2 picks Glennon flat out made bad throws - there was no miscommunication or bad route.
Second of all, our O-line is pretty good at pass blocking. Glennon the immovable statue has ONLY been sacked 8 times in 4 games and at least a few of those weren't the fault of the O-line.
Third, if we are getting shellacked, we saw that last night Loggains can protect the QB and stick with the run.
Fourth, a mobile QB will extend plays (remember Romo predicting that with Rodgers on that 3rd and goal) and give the Bear WRs more opportunity to get open.
Fifth, a mobile QB will open up the play book. How many roll outs have you seen with Glennon...or boot legs? Not very many - he can't run.
Sixth, a more accurate QB with a stronger arm will throw WRs open when they don't appear open. Glennon either takes the sack, dumps off or throws a pick.
Seventh, Packers and Packer fans want to see Glennon when they visit Soldier Field - if Trubisky plays they will have to adjust their defenses.
-
You guys are missing the point of NOT playing Mitch. The Bear WR's are horrible. If Trubitsky plays and the Bears are playing from behind this will force him throw and to either eat the ball, scramble to create plays and in process take a lot of hits. That carries a higher level of injury and set back on his development.
That being said, if Trubitsky doesn't start the next game, it won't happen until season is lost and only 3-4 games remain on schedule.
-
The biggest problem in all this is firstly, Glennon sucks. He's a backup at best. Secondly, you bring the kid in-fine. But who's he throwing to? This team is so bereft of wideout talent, probably the worst group in years, that the poor kid is going to have a tough time of it when his receivers stop their routes, run the wrong routes, can't get separation, etc etc. This team is still in a real talent hole and drafting fricking prospects at high positions is seriously asinine and needs to stop. This team needs talent that can start day one, not some guy sitting the bench for years.
-
That was the worst game I've ever seen the Bears play.
Not the worst, but in top 10 against the Pack.

"I can't believe I got $18 million guaranteed...BWAHAHA"
-
“Fortunately we have a mini-bye here, 10, 11 days to evaluate and do things necessary for us to improve,” Foxy said. That’s across the board.”
No, you suck 'across the board'. And if you believe they'll do the things necessary to improve, I've got some land to sell you east of Miami, cheap.....
-
It was funny that Erin Rogers said Trubisky should sit and learn. Um, yeah, you would say that, cause as long as Glennon is starting we are losing.....
Boogie, I was thinking the exact same thing!
And I'm sure Rodgers would be out of the league now if HAD to start a game during his rookie season. It would have destroyed his confidence.
I haven't read anything about the game but I'm sure Fox is going to deflect the blame off Glennon to the line missing blocks or the receivers running bad routes again.
-
I tuned in for a few minutes, I never realized how slow Glennon's release is. He'll never make it. Sanchez is likely better or start the rookie.
-
So I am glad I went to sleep when I did. I will just fast forward thru the carnage. And if we would have drafted any D player at 3, Glennon would be all we have to cling to. I would rather see Sanchez than Glennon, but am looking forward to see what Trubisky can do. It was funny that Erin Rogers said Trubisky should sit and learn. Um, yeah, you would say that, cause as long as Glennon is starting we are losing.....
-

-
Can't blame this game solely on Glennon, but yeah he sucked...again.
D-line didn't exactly dominate their patchwork O-line. And our O-line pass blocked OK but too many holding penalties.
Again, it comes down to the difference in talent at QB. And our inability of our DBs to anticipate those same old Packer plays that we've seen for years.
-
Same here - SLEEP is so much more valuable than what the national broadcasts are worth
-
Ahhh, refused to watch the game and got a good nights rest.. LOL!! BTW, fukk the NFL, and while they're at it.. FIRE FOX!!
-
know it didn't matter - but holy shit the refs were god awful. Sitton's holding call & the failure to call pass interference were dumbfounding.
-
Duck,
Goddammit if we just put rookie safety Jackson on his ass all the time ...
that can't work ??
Nelson ain't no spring chicken that any rookie can't stop.
-
I sometimes wonder if the Packers don't use voodoo dolls and black magic on the Bears or something. I am only sort of kidding.
-
Is there some fuukin law in the NFL that we can't cover Jordy Nelson,
when he's wide fuuckin open ?
I mean c'mon already !
How come he keeps doing this to us ?
HALAS HALL hasn't figured this shiit out by now ???
WT motherfuuckin F ???
-
Beerbellyacher
95-94-4 Pack!!!!
Take that beerbellyacher!
-
How embarrassing is it that Romo is making excuses for how bad Green Bay looked and that they will be a much better team in a month?
Fucking pathetic ass Bears! Fox and Glennon can go anywhere else but back to Chicago imo.
-
That was a heartless coaching job by Fox and staff.
I've never seen a team quit so early.
-
Glennon's not gong anywhere. Trubisky can't even get in the fame when we're not trying.
-
I know right?
Howard being in with that shoulder is fucking stupid!
-
I don't want to see Glennon start another game in a Bears uniform again.
But I bet he starts Monday.
-
If we're giving up, why is Howard still in?
-
3rd and 7, and our QB throws to the guy who ran a 5 yard route and fell down.
-
all i can say is he better be good. damn good.
-
A better question is why am I still watching this abysmal game after midnight on a work night. Hopefully next game Mr. Biscuit gets the start and we see what we've got. Bear Down fellas!
-
what a horrific debacle against a not so good team.
-
Wow, putting your backup QB in the game in garbage time??? Who does that shite???
-
You can't run their game plan when the QB turns the ball over three times in the first quarter.
The Bears need a new game plan or a new QB. Probably both.
-
coulda done that all night. thought that was what they were going to do. silly me.
-
and of course, that wasn't pi on gb. Glennon throws the ball in the genral directon of canada.
-
Not that it matters but how is that defender not pushing off on that last play
-
You're the idiot for following this team, seriously
-
why kill the guy during an out of reach game?
-
You are an idiot.
-
Get the No.1 pick so they can trade it away for 'projects'. Look, this team is done, they're DONE! They aren't turning around! Since 95' we've come together to watch the same crap play out season after season, except for a couple miracle years, it's been the same crap, from Wanny to now Fox and they have not changed! Abandon all Hope should be our motto because there IS none!
-
Leave Howard out! Fox you suck!
-
Why are they running the ball? I get it no chance of winning but your passing game sucks. Work on it!
You can still run the ball just don't go into a shell. Your team needs to learn how to pass the damn ball.
-
down 4 scores on national tv, 4th quarter, and NOW they run the ball? NOW?
-
So Harbuagh as coach and we get the number one pick next year that we can trade for a boat load of picks?
-
Yeah I just thought it was worth mentioning. I am already tired of *itching about Glennon.
-
who the f uck is he throwing to?
-
I don't wan to settle as the Forrest Gregg Packers.
-
hiber I noticed that. But just hurting people is not the objective. Winning is.
-
Glennon sucks so hard. We get one or two decent series each game and 3 or 4 turn overs from him.
-
Bears on the Cubs game plan. Suck for a century then turn it around...they're on year 32 since their last championship with zero hope in sight for it happening for at least another 5 years. Oh looks, another int....
-
We definitely have knocked a lot of Packers out of this game. They probably lose their next 3 games.
-
Damn right there's a flag!
-
I hope whoever took that vicious hit is ok.
-
Rodgers clearly holding Floyd...no call...
-
You fucking kidding me with that spot?
-
The refs always favor the Packers.
-
The spot was rediculously in favor of the Packers...
-
I don't care like I used to. I had to quit caring it was killing me.
-
challage that !!! those f ucking assholes!!!!
-
WTF? That is a ridiculous spot!
-
Peke, how many decades of this does it take for you to be done with this?? The Bears aren't any different than they have been since 95'. Still looking like clowns against the Pack.
-
The rules for what DB's are allowed to do are clearly different for each team
-
By not taking that penalty, it shows contempt against the Bears. Basically saying they don't care if they get a FG, they still won't win. And they missed it anyway. Pathetic..
-
The refs helping the GB like they need help. This game makes me sick to my stomache.
-
Of course that PI gets called on the Bears...
-
what absolute bull sh it
-
I am ready to fire Fox now. I wanted to keep him for next year so Trubisky could stay in the same system but I am done.
-
And of course Barth misses!
This Packer team sucks besides Rodgers and the Bears continue to step on their own dicks over and over and over.
So frustrating!
-
missed fg. again, of course.
-
no flag. of course.
-
That should of been a flag. The DB was all over him!
-
There's no change from Cutler, except with Cutler you at least had a big arm. Both are turnover machines, so why keep him in??? Really stupid...
-
21-7 Packers at the half.
This game was right there for the taking. As usual the Bears pissed the chance away.
We need more then one good drive a game from our QB who turns the ball over 2 to 3 times a game every game...
-
"If you take out the three or four bone-headed plays that give the game away to the other team, Glennon is pretty good."
-
that game right now should be no worse than tied. period.
-
Confusion? Bears?? Nooo, really?? Lol...
-
Fuck!
Here comes Glennon again. The human turnover machine with no upside.
-
bullshit call to save Erin.
-
IMO Pace aint' doin so hot. His bads outstrip his goods. What the hell did he see in this guy?
-
I did see Trubisky huddled with a coach on the sidelines. So let's hope he is in next.
Glennon is a fucking trash baby at this point.
-
14 of those 21 is on Glennon. Surely he sits second half.
-
Why are we cursed with horrible QB's?
Year after year after year?
-
nice 8 yard pass. gb scores again
-
Hope your enjoying your Chicago Bears. What a joke of a franchise.
-
Why are we running the ball? If you are going to leave Glennon in there let him dig out of his own hole.
-
here comes dickhead again. this guy is quinn bad. at a cutler price.
-
Yes the Bears are laughable
-
Why the fuck is he still in the game?!?!?!?!?!?!
FUCK GLENNON!!!!!
-
Now...Mike Glennon has lost you this game. Don't ever tell me anything about how good he is.
-
ok that was just fucking stupid. set his giraffe ass down! that'll cost 6 more points
-
21-0 put Tribusky in and tell Glennon to take the train home.
-
How did pace think this schmuck could play?
-
Ok I've seen enough of Glennon...
-
Trubisky can not do worse.
-
I am done!
Glennon you fucking suck donkey dicks from hell!
-
Catch the f*cking ball!!
-
Now the morons are imploding again. Dropped pass, false start. Going backwards.
-
Terrible holding call on Sitton to kill the drive...
-
14 pts in 53 seconds for GB? I was going to watch the first half, but will tape the rest, this is putrid. Glennon blows chunks. Trubisky vs the Vikes next monday. The only thing to look forward to right now.
-
Can Glennon stay in the middle of the field as a lightening rod?
Perfect job for him... Just requires being tall and to stand still like a statue! ;D
-
Can Glennon stay in the middle of the field as a lightening rod?
-
Wow.. a weather delay while Romo is announcing... this might be a long long night.
-
Every time Glennon touches the ball I think to myself, one more play closer to seeing Trubisky.
-
I hope Glennon doesn't tighten up with this delay.
-
Oh great a storm delay. Let's just stretch out the agony.
-
So you have to have your team ready to not fall behind two TDs in six minutes.
-
Certainly not with Glennon anyway.
-
You can't spot Rodgers 14 points and win in Green Bay. Doesn't happen.
-
It didn't hit but yeah they sure wanted it to.
Close. Like it matters.
-
There is a huge effort to get the Packers the ball here...
-
The moment is too big for Glennon
-
This is shit you should have down by high school.
-
Is this a professional football team or a comedy act?
-
Whitehair definitely not up to playing center lately.
-
Ahhh for f*uck sake...
-
LOL! fire everyone.
-
WTF?
Are you kidding me?
-
Here's another John Fox/Ryan Pace team showing up completely not ready to compete.
-
Right!
Glennon is gone after this game. Then we can actually see what we have for the future.
-
Looking forward to the MNF with Trubisky
-
I expected them to lose I did not expect them to get blown out.
-
You guys really have this all wrong. This is good. higher the draft pick the better, can be traded for a real Oline and Dline!
-
Slowest release I have ever seen.
-
Fuckin Glennon
-
LOL!!!!
Glennon is such a fucktard!
-
So much for the theory that having backups of backups on packer oline is a bears advantage this week.
-
But we got Glennon... yeaaa
-
That was sure easy...
-
They fucking suck!
Same old terrible Bears.
I thought the D was supposed to be good. WTF?
-
Try as they might the NFL only found 4 gay Packer fans linking arms (one was probably Otto). All the rest of the fans had hands on heart or were saluting.
GO BEARS!!!
-
Both Packers Tackles are third string guys right now. Expect quick throws and runs from the Packers early.
-
Glennon looks nervous. That isn't good.
Although if he doesn't realize he has to perform well tonight or he is done he is an idiot.
-
I think we have a slim shot, but at least it is something. Then again we are playing against Rogers AND the refs, that is a pretty steep order. We shall see.
-
What Bearhit said. Isn't that why they play the games? Otherwise have the line determine the winner, and divvy up the wins and losses.
-
The D will have to be all over Rodgers and Glennon will have to play better then he has so far as a Bear.
But yeah they got a shot. Not a big one but it is there.
-
any given Thursday...
GO BEARSSSSE
-
Any game in the NFL is winnable by either side any given Sunday. Packers are definitely favored (by 10 last time I looked).
Every week the Bears have to deal with a talent deficiency at QB and WR with their opponent. They are usually in pretty good shape in their matchup with at the other 19 positions.
Bears have to exploit the Packers starting tackles being doubtful tonight (are you listening Leonard Floyd?)
-
I wouldn't say that
-
It's not winnable.
-
Agreed. All this David Carr bullish!t is irrelevant. Either Trubisky can play or he can't.
And if healthy the OL is decent and the running game is solid.
Give Tre McBride and Gentry some snaps. Aromashadu and Meredith came out of nowhere and showed a little something. I know Bellamy and Thompson are important in ST. But it would be nice to have other options.
And start the kid against the Queens.
It is really damn aggravating that this is a winnable game at Lambeau, yet all we can hope for is ST/Def TDs and 200 yards rushing
-
The Bears still staunchly believe in being patient with rookie Mitch Trubisky. They don’t want to rush his development. No player is more important to the franchise in the long term. Stunting his mental growth and hurting his confidence are real concerns to consider.
I live in the Dallas area and watch a lot of Cowboys games. Troy Aikman was thrust into the starting role during his rookie season in 1989. The team was bad and went something like 0-11 during those starts, but you could tell he had talent. His mental growth was not stunted nor his confidence.
I don't believe that a QB if he has talent will get ruined by starting too early. Not saying Trubisky had to start day 1, but eventually you reach a plateau of learning from meetings and standing on the sideline watching. Eventually, you got to play.
-
The Bears have made a late addition to their injury report for Thursday night’s game against the Packers.
Defensive lineman Akiem Hicks has been designated as questionable to play due to a foot injury. Hicks was not listed with an injury on any of the team’s practice reports this week.
There’s no word about when or how Hicks sustained the injury, but the more significant question for the Bears might be how they’ll handle life without Hicks. He’s a key part of their defense and the Bears would like to exploit a Packers line that’s likely to be missing both tackles when Thursday night’s game gets underway.
The Bears have already ruled out safety Quintin Demps and linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski is set to miss a second game with a pec injury after being listed as doubtful.
-
Very interesting read:
https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/whether-mike-glennon-knows-it-or-not-thursday-could-be-his-last-stand/
-
I think so too, but it isn't an either/or proposition. I hope they at least try to reduce the number of runs to the left, even if it costs them games.
-
I think he was joking..
-
Howard had a lot of success running left. I can't imagine them abandoning that.
First, Howard runs extremely well to the left. It is an important part of his game.
Second, how long would it be until the defenses saw that he never ran to the left, and stacked the defenses to the right?
-
Most of Howard's better runs are to the left. Not sure if that is the blocking or if he just runs better that way... for whatever reason.
-
Amos is more of a strong safety and has 2 years starting experience. I think the way the Bears play their safeties that they really don't have a lot of opportunities to make plays on the ball. It's kind of hard to see given the angles from TV. Same is true with WR play.
-
sorry to hear that about Demps. I did see Amos in there.
-
Just kidding. I can't see how you can adjust your game in the NFL to avoid contact on any part of of an injured body part.
-
Demps has a broken arm.....
-
They just need to always run Howard to the right to not expose the bad shoulder to contact. And run Cohen to the left where Long can block with his good shoulder.
Howard had a lot of success running left. I can't imagine them abandoning that.
The announcers even made mention of the fact that Howard was twisting his body around just before contact to minimize the hits on his bad shoulder.
-
Nah, his starter is riding a one game winning streak.
Exactly. Not the time for a change, especially against the Pack. Keep Trubisky a surprise.
-
They just need to always run Howard to the right to not expose the bad shoulder to contact. And run Cohen to the left where Long can block with his good shoulder.
-
I wonder if Howard will be good to go Thursday.
Being hurt on a short week is a bad combination.
-
I thought I read somewhere they were switching Long because of his shoulder injury, which he never got fixed.
-
He definitely had a cast on his right hand on the sideline.
-
Not sure what the reason was for the Long/Sitton swap. I thought the LG was your puller and the RG was your mauler. Not sure Long qualifies as a puller with the bad ankle but I'm sure the coaches will patch together what works best. Offensive line has player pretty well this season even with the substitutions.
Did Grasu really break his hand?
-
This game will be interesting with GB. No Cutler, so they cant count on the normal turnovers, although they may be licking their chops for Glennon. My guess is the refs will help the Pack as usual, and depending on how well/bad Glennon plays Trubisky may or may not get the next start.
-
Whether Sitton comes back or not, Long should stay at right guard going forward.
-
Good to see this amount of activity on the board! If the Bears can play with a little relevance again, we might have something!
-
I'll repeat what I said at the time about Glennon. I believe Pace truly believed that Glennon was a good care taker for a team looking to bridge from Cutler. With the Browns choosing at the top of the draft, he had no guarantee to get Trubiskey, and the day before the draft the rumor out there was that Trubiskey would go number 1 overall. When the Browns selected Garrett, the Bears had their opening and new their was buzz about their pick at 3, they could only imagine there was buzz about number 2...the 49ers said as much. When they traded and selected Trubiskey, the 49ers did not get interest in their now owned 3rd pick and made their selection.
If Trubiskey had gone number 1 to Cleveland, it would have been interesting in hindsight to see what the Bears did at 3... we'll never know.
-
The only defense for Glennon could be that the WRs were never open and/or Loggains gameplan restricted throws to TEs and HBs only. 3 WRs targets - 1 completion. Zero passes to Kendall Wriight...really?
Would Fox shock the world and surprise the Packers with Trubisky starting? Nah, his starter is riding a one game winning streak.
-
I think Floyd spent a lot of time covering today. Well at least that is the only time I saw him.
Against the Packers our DB's have to contest every throw and our Dline has to get a ton of pressure on Rodgers. His O-line is almost as in bad shape as ours so he needs to be hit early and often.
-
First of all, kudos to Davebear for bringing up 2 very good points. Our 3 corners and Calahan played a helluva game. Last year a passes thrown downfield found wide receivers with huge cushions - now we're seeing our corners running with them and making plays on the ball. (Now if we could only get our safeties to do the same but I think Fangio has them playing center field quite a bit. And even though the Bears got 3 sacks there really wasn't a whole lot of pressure on Rothlisberger.
Second point, McManus made a great play with the block but all the attention went to Cooper and his Leon Lett impersonation.
And where the he!! is Leonard Floyd. One tackle today. Glad to see McPhee getting better.
-
Let Glennon start so that MT can pace (pun) how the game is headed if he is needed.
-
WRS on this team suck - Tanner Gentry should be on the active roster.
-
Yes I really hope Pace's plan was to sign Glennon just as smoke screen for Trubisky, so no one would trade up to get him. Because if not I believe the Glennon signing was one of the worst decisions made. We could have kept Cutler, say what you want he is better than Glennon period. One thing that is great about Glennon is he only gets big money guaranteed for 1 year, so if he doesn't pan out we can move on quickly.
Personally I do not see what Glennon gives you as a backup over a Sanchez. I was hopefully that Glennon would pan out so we might trade him for draft picks. However anyone that can judge football talent has to see he is lacking. He is not an NFL QB. He will be lucky to have a career after this as a backup. He was almost picked off over 4 times today. I was listening to Pittsburg radio broadcast and they mentioned they could not remember seeing so many check down passes ever.
-
The problem with Glennon is that he is showing zero progress. I think week one was the best we will ever see from him.
We have a very good running game, terrible receivers and a the O-line is a work in progress with all the moving parts and injuries. A mobile guy helps with that.
When a QB starts scrambling receivers come open. How many times have we seen Rodgers kill us doing that?
It is just not in Glennon's make up. Plus he has a slow release which exacerbates the problem. He also is not aware enough to just throw it away.
I suspect Glennon starts Thursday and I hope from then on Trubisky is the starter. I would love for them to give him a series or two each game at least.
-
We saw what winless Bengals did against Packers.
Who only won in OT. So did we.
Rookie Mixon gashed them for 62 yards rushing.
Let Glennon start with Howard / Cohen rushing. (Howard Cohen ... GET IT ?)
(Champ who's the best boxer of all time? I am Howard I am !)
Who's winning at halftime ? If they are ...
start MT in the second.
No matter what ...
we'll see what happens again at Soldiers. ;D
BEARRSSEE !!!
-
I agree.
Trubisky would cost us some games but Glennon is as well and he has zero upside. Start Trubisky.
-
Next up, Thursday night game in G.B. Man I hope my cable gets fixed in time (still out from Hurricane).
I think if we start Trubisky we could be in mix for playoffs. With Glennon starting no better than 4-12.
-
I've seen this play out time after time when these showboats don't play the game seriously. Marcus Cooper should be fined by the team for sheer stupidity. These guys make more money in a year than I probably made in my lifetime and they don't have their heart into the game. This is why pro sports will eventually go down. To many egos and not enough selflessness. I can't stand the way our society has become.
-
Jesus H. Christ Howard can play. Like Daverbear said, welcome to the 70's. Gotta get me a porn stache, where's my beta of deep throat.....
I recant on Glennon. He needs to pick up the clipboard again. Bears run through the f uck- o - tron on Tariq's play no doubt. On the up side, I once again, found myself screaming at the tv. been a long time I cared that much. Time to get hammered, 46 signing off.
-
Hopefully he learns from it and never, ever makes a stupid mistake like that ever again.
-
Still think he's a goddamn dumbass, but...

Nice job rook

Good win
-
Great win! They kept making mistakes but they kept coming back from them. I love running it down their throats for a TD in overtime.
-
Glennon is not changing the play at the line of scrimmage very often either.
-
Lost with all else that went on will be the play McMannis made blocking the field goal.
Nice play. Saved the game.
-
You know, it's not even the int. Glennon threw that bothers me, the announcers said that may have been Miller's fault for moving to the sidelines when he was possibly supposed to stay where he was. What bothers me more is the two other near interceptions where Glennon threw into a crowd and was inaccurate. Glennon is still young as an NFL QB, he's only played 18 or 19 games, but if he can't see the field any better than that let Trubisky make the mistakes.
Sheesh, if they got that TD against the Falcons.............................2-1
-
Trubisky has to be an upgrade.
He has a quicker release and he can run.
I agree davebear. A rookie can hand off and throw to the RB's which is all Glennon does. Plus Glennon keeps turning the ball over even while playing it safe.
-
Wow, just wow.
This was a game out of the 1970's or even older.
A team with no downfield passing game whatsoever ( 1 completion to a wide receiver) beats a playoff team.
The corners played so well. Cooper (dumbshit) Amakamura and Fuller all had passes defended. Did we have any last year?
The question down the road will be; if you're taking your QB out of the game by checking down and mostly running the ball, can't the rookie do the same?
-
I have to think that when they watch that film he is going to get a ton of heat from his team mates for that.
-
Fortunately they kept the flag in their pocket that last play with Thompson holding a handful of jersey.
-
If Bears had any secondary depth, if I were Fox, Cooper sits next game and loses a paycheck. I know it won't happen but that's what should happen. Totally inexcusable play.
-
Glennon needs to be benched but I am guessing with a short week we are stuck with him next week. Maybe after that game.
-
Bears penalties 10 for 73 yards.
Steelers penalties 6 for 40.
Plus a few questionable calls that kept Steeler drives alive.
-
That pick by Glennon was just terrible. Miller wasnt open, yet he threw the ball to him anyways.
-
I thought we were playing Green Bay, with the refs blowing the Jordan fumble and the Cohen out of bounds. Cohen is going to score his share of TDs, but I am glad Howard got his. Playing hurt and all.
And Leonard Floyd stole his paycheck from the Bears today. He did NOTHING, at all.
-
HOWARD!!!!!!!!
-
It's Jordan Howard's world, baby!
-
HOWARD! Bears WIN!
-
BEARS WIN!!!
-
Total Bullshiat! You cant do a worst job then these refs have done today.
-
The Bears better win this game.
-
Unreal!
-
You can see a line of green between his foot and the white.
-
If the refs screw them again the fix is in.
-
HE DID NOT STEP OUT OF BOUNDS!
THAT IS A TD!!!
-
Here's where you need a guy at QB who can win the game for you...
-
At least the D came to play.
-
The 7 points that special teams left on the field would look pretty good up on the scoreboard right now...
-
Glennon just godawful. 1 completion the whole game?
-
He's not good.
-
Fucking Glennon.
-
Between the missed field goal and Cooper stopping at the 1 the Bears should be leading by 7 right now.
-
Heh, wasn't even 3...
-
Check down QB...3rd and 6, watch this be a 3 yard pass...
-
Of course there's holding on the punt return...
-
Lol.That last play was a false start, too. They just let it go. Bears being Bears...bad
-
Just what we needed a 3 and out and a short punt.
About to go 0-3. Dumb azzes!
-
Other then the stupid and unforgivable FG block return, Cooper has played well today. It would be great to have those 4 points back right now.
-
Glennon you fucktard!
-
Here you go, Mike Glennon....take your team on a clock eating drive for a touchdown and win the game...
-
Bears - 17, Pitt - 7, Zebras - 7
-
That was a fu$&@ing fumble
-
If it's a hold on Cooper in the end zone, then why does the ref wait to after the play to throw the flag.
-
The Bears got f*cked right there...
-
That is bullshit! The replay showed his knee down before the ball came out with out a doubt.
-
His knee was down.
-
I just have this feeling Big Ben is going to light up the second half. I am happy the Bears are winning, and if they hang on I will be thrilled. But the pessimist in me is expecting a big let down.
-
Leno was who was offsides according to the announcers.
-
Cooper is a showboat dolt. Not sure who did the false start that made us go for the FG, but I wasnt sure they would have scored a td.....at least we are being competitive. Lets see what happens in the second half....
-
I haven't been this pissed about a play since the packer fumble that the Bears defense stared at and never picked up. Un f*cking real.
-
And leave it to the Bears to be offsides.
-
They just can't stop stepping on their dicks...
-
17-7 Bears. I will take it.
I also think that should have been a safety but three is better then two.
-
Jesus
-
How is that not a safety?
-
What a moron
