For several years, the Red Sox have been lauded because they consistently pay overslot money for players drafted lower down.  When the Cubs do the same thing, they are criticized.

I have no idea how good any of these guys are going to be.  Of course, neither do you.  But your underlying assumption is that Wilken is not able to identify the right players to draft.  That may be so, but if that IS so, there is little reason to analyze the draft at all, since the assumption is that if the Cubs are doing it, it is wrong.
