Or another example.  WR Cordarelle Patterson. About the same size as Alshon Jeffery, but faster.  Do we put him in the starting lineup at Jeffery's expense (essentially giving up on Alshon after only 1 year)...  or does Patterson wind up being a guy that's only on the field 15-20 snaps a game?


Most of our draft focus has been at the guard position in round 1.  But teams generally find quality guards through the mid rounds.

Late last year our line was pass and run blocking OK but our offense was still struggling in the passing game.  Teams were taking out Marshall or if Marshall was catching passes there was nobody else who was contributing. 

Now we fully expect Jeffery to come back strong and improve on his rookie year but that still only leaves us with 3 quality receivers.  How many quality receivers have the Packers had the last couple seasons...Cobb, James Jones, Nelson, Jennings and Driver.

Now maybe WR in round 1 is a luxury pick for the Bears but I would not be disappointed if we picked up the big fast WR from Tennessee.  Any WR pick in round carries a huge bust factor but if you want to pick a single position that can improve your pass offense outside of QB - WR is the pick.
